If satan can take out the man, he knows from experience the aftermath of an absent father, a disconnected husband, or the effects of a poor leader. Satan thought he could strike the great Shepherd and for a few days His flock fled and lived-in fear expecting arrest or even death. But with the rod of the great Shepherd, He defeated both sin and death and with His staff he leads those who hear His voice, into redemption. Satan may try to tempt or distract us in the flesh, but we did not take the image of a failure, we took the image of Christ, the great Shepherd. We lead our flock in His image!

I'm confused. Your Biblical text says that God will strike the Shepherd, but you say that it is Satan who does the striking. Is it God or the Devil who "strikes" Christ?

It is God who speaks, and it is God who smites His Shepherd at the cross. And He brought down His sword of wrath against Christ. But because the Shepherd was smitten, His sheep were scattered. However, after Christ's resurrection, He brought them all back and gathered them together to teach them for forty days before His ascension.

It is amazing how prophecy after prophecy was fulfilled by Christ. Yet all the Jews did not become His sheep at that time.

God is sovereign as in even within evil God uses it within His will. It was Satan who took over Judas. It was the nonbelievers or children of Satan who arrested Jesus, tortured, and killed. But prophetically this was the will of God.

Who strikes Jesus?

Jesus strikes Jesus. Jesus is God. God allowed Satan and the unbelievers to complete the prophecy. So yes Satan and the unbelievers like Judas can and are to this day still hold the sin of that day. But it wasn't without victory. God allowed it to happen.

I was just reading that prophesy, or what I believed is referred to as that prophesy and it is brutal. I mean, seriously brutal.

Zechariah 13:7 Awake, O sword, against my shepherd, and against the man that is my fellow, saith the LORD of hosts: smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered: and I will turn mine hand upon the little ones.

It is a good question as people often claim the Bible has contradictions. But as shown there is either more context or a deeper understanding. The Bible is fluent in truth.

But . . . one of the weirdest oppositions of "truth" that I have found so far, is the discrepancy of the story of Judas and how the "Field of Blood" was bought and paid for, and by whom. The two different accounts are not the same . . . at . . . all. I couldn't believe it when I discovered it.

This has already been explained by me and multiple people. Read back through the posts. As for Judas and his money, that is not a contradiction either but explained right in the context a few verses down in Matthew 27:3-7 then Acts 1:15-19 gives it more detail.
