I disagree, the Roman Catholic Church has it's very foundation in Constantine
I think all church doctrine has roots in Constantine. He made the change from Saturday worship to Sunday worship law in order to not do anything Jews did. He made it a law to not celebrate Passover but substitute Easter, changing the date. He made deciding about church doctrine something a group of men did instead of going to scripture. The church that Christ started was called "The Way" and it completely died out after only about 500 years after Christ. It was very different from our church today.

When exactly did the Catholic Church start to associate itself with the primacy of the Bishop of Rome? According to you.
There wasn’t an exact time this began to happen. It developed over centuries but if I were to point to a time when the papacy was clearly asserting it’s primacy I would have to point to the crowning of Charlemagne by pope Leo III in 800. Not to say the See of Rome wasn’t asserting primacy before then but not to the extent that it was following Charlemagne’s crowning. Especially after in the Photian dispute culminating in the great schism of 1054.

Your claim of the church dying out is false

Yes Constantine is the very foundation of much that we see today in many churches

Yes Constantine initiated Easter and Sunday observance, both of pagan origin

Matthew 16:17-19KJV

17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.
18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

He built St. Peter Basilica in 319AD, he gave the Lateran Palace to the Church that the Popes presently live in, and the Land "Vatican City" sits on was donated by Constantine

We Will Disagree
The donation of Constantine is a medieval forgery. Your giving too much credit to the modern RCC. Yes, Constantine built many churches including the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. But he did not donate all the land the see of Rome claimed for centuries ( at least until the Lateran treaty with Mussolini in 1929). That was part of the forgery.

Sunday worship was a settled fact long before Constantine.

From the Didache, a first century church manual. Cf Rev 1:10.
But every Lord’s day do ye gather yourselves together, and break bread, and give thanksgiving after having confessed your transgressions, that your sacrifice may be pure. 2 But let no one that is at variance with his fellow come together with you, until they be reconciled, that your sacrifice may not be profaned. 3 For this is that which was spoken by the Lord: In every place and time offer to me a pure sacrifice; for I am a great King, saith the Lord, and my name is wonderful among the nations.

Didache xiv.

Easter comes from the German word Eoster meaning spring. The real name for Easter is Pasca. Celebration of the resurrection. Most of the vitrol against Easter Comes from a hack named Alexander Hislop whose research is laughably bad. No serious high school student would take His Slop serious. And neither should any one else.

Should readers observe your posting as serious? :)

To observe the resurrection of Jesus Christ is found no place in scripture, as you fight to defend it

Easter follows the Vernal Equinox, Full Moon, and First Sunday following these, and is why the date changes yearly

This day is of pagan origin, found in the fertility rites, with bunnies and eggs being symbols of fertility

The quartodecimans were a sect in Asia Minor that may have survived until the fifth century. Much of the dispute seems to be uncertain even in Constantine’s time. They may have had a point about the celebration of Easter but the majority of church had already decided when it was to celebrated before Constantine.
yet to say that the early church of “the way” had died out is in my view is false. That would have meant the gates of hell prevailed against the church thus making Jesus a liar. I prefer the view that doesn’t make my Lord a liar. I’m sure you do as well.

Do you attend a local church? Yes or no.

The Jews observed a lunar calendar which is why 14 Nissan changes yearly. It’s not pagan. Know your scripture.

I really want to know if you attend a local church. Most of the posters I’ve observed posting nonsense usually are not under the care of a pastor.

Big Smiles! :giggle:

Your (Distraction) of myself attending a local church has absolutely nothing to do with the fact, instruction for Easter observance in the resurrection is found no place in the scripture, no place

So you don’t attend a local body of believers. Right? The church less believer isn’t found in scripture either but that doesn’t seem to bother you.

I would plead with you to be a part of a local congregation. You need this. Or you become just another one of the many posters here who as I say roll and smoke their own theology.

The celebration of Easter is in accord with Scripture. If you choose not observe THE event in the history of the cosmos that’s on you. Yet recall the command to the Jews to observe the Passover. How much more perfect is the sacrifice of Christ over the Passover cf the entire book of Hebrews.

Your claim is "False" :)

Instruction to observe the pagan day of Easter, in the resurrection of Jesus Christ is found no place in the scripture.

Jesus Christ gave a clear directive to the Church

(This Do In Remembrance Of Me)

1 Corinthians 11:23-26KJV
23 For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, that the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread:
24 And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.
25 After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, this cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.
26 For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come.

If a casual observer came along and read this thread, he would think that the Church just didn’t exist between the time the last Apostle died to the time of Constantine. Which is absolutely not the case.

There are a significant amount of writings from early Christians between that time period and they were very clear about their beliefs.

Nobody has denied the church existed before constantine

1800 bishops were invited to the 1st nicean council called by Constantine, only 318 showed up, let's you see the early churches stance on Constantine

The persecution of the Church for hundreds of years probably played a role in that. And travel wasn’t exactly an easy process in that time either. In any case, the council got the creed right so praise God.

It always "just kills me" when people talk as if 'The Church' started with Constantine - as if it didn't exist on-its-own since Christ.

Constantine wanted a State Church. So, he started one. He purposely went about it in a way to make it appeal to pagans, Christians, and Jews.

Many of those from the true churches "fell for it" and became a part of Constantine's Church.

The rest held fast to the Bible doctrine they had been taught.

They became 'targets' for centuries by the Pagan Church.
