Where this post went awry is when the OP used a term commonly used by mystics and the New Age and tried applying it to Christian practice without warning the readers from the outset the difference between the two uses. If you don't know the difference, there isn't much more I can say.

I truly don't think using the term visualization is wrong, any more than using the term think, memorize or meditate is wrong. And it seems to me that any time any of those words (memorize, think, or meditate) are used to relate to using them for evil it is an evil thing to do.

Revivalism means the 1800s? Wasn't it William Booth of "Salvation Army" that said something like "why do the devil have all the good music?".

And since then, churches have been doing a horrific job of mimicking the worst music offered by the world.
