Here's a yes, no, or unsure poll on a question about the following verse:

Romans 10:9:
9That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Please feel free to discuss why you made the decision you did.

But more importantly, I believe that I have received the Circumcision of Christ. This is what the entire Bible is about . . . the manner in which Christ sets His Chosen ones free.

Because it's the truth. However, quoted verse relates to the second salvation, the salvation of the soul. It does not relate to the experience of being born again.

Yes. It is entirely biblical. It's not taught so much these days, which is a great shame. The whole "once saved, always saved" v "Christians can lose their salvation" debate would be over if people understood the principle of two salvations.

The problem with Christian jargon is that the meaning can become restrictive or turned into a code. "Salvation" has become pretty much going to heaven when you die. It is vastly more than that. If people substituted the word "deliverance", which is just as correct, the meaning may become clearer.

The first salvation is when the individual is born again. It is instant and entirely God's work. The salvation (deliverance) of the soul is God's work but requires our cooperation. So an individual may be born again but show little or no sign of it because they have not allowed God to work in their lives.

To be effective in God's kingdom we must be set free from the old habits and memories of our pre-Christian life. We bring our old attitudes, thought patterns, selfish desires, misconceptions etc with us. Some are changed very quickly, others take a lifetime. The spirit is where we gain spiritual knowledge. The soul is where that knowledge is expressed. A dysfunctional soul hinders our walk. God delights in setting us free, but it is only with the cooperation of our will.

It's a massive subject, so what I've said is not even an introduction. If Christians ever let this truth get hold of them, their lives will be much different.

Please be more specific. If you mean the reference to "salvation of the soul", it's 1 Peter 1:9 and James 1:21. If you want a comprehensive explanation, read Watchman Nee, "The Salvation of the Soul".

Once you understand that Israel will only receive their salvation at the 2nd coming of Jesus, you will be able to understand 1 Peter 1:9 literally but not apply it to us in the Body of Christ.

I could not disagree more. Why did Peter address his letter to Christians, if it does not apply? There is no logic in your position.

There is no logic in your doctrine that Peter was addressing the Body of Christ

1 Peter 1:1
Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the strangers scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,

Gentiles do not belong to any particular nation that belongs to God, so it does not make sense to describe them as "strangers scattered"

Peter wrote to those who are born again. In Christ there is neither Jew not Gentile. Your stand is not biblical.

In the Body of Christ, there is neither Jew nor Gentile, I agree with you.

But Peter is a minister to the circumcision, as stated in Galatians 2:9.

9 And when James, Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that was given unto me, they gave to me and Barnabas the right hands of fellowship; that we should go unto the heathen, and they unto the circumcision.

There is no gospel to Jews alone. There is no separate gospel to Gentiles. Paul made a point of preaching to Jews everywhere that he went, if he could. Peter went to the Gentile Roman centurion. Your reasoning is incorrect.

Acts 10 happened before Acts 15.

I gave you the scripture but of course, how you want to interpret them is up to you. Cheers.

Interpretation is not up to the individual. It is necessary to receive illumination from the Holy Spirit. This may be direct to an individual or through people that Christ has appointed to teach His people. It's called revelation. People can cobble scriptures together to make them mean all kinds of things. That is not revelation. It's mental gymnastics that produces incorrect understanding of God's word. If God's word is used correctly, in context and in the light of other scriptures, then what is false should be exposed. There is one gospel to one people, the race of Adam. Jesus told us to teach and preach this gospel to the ends of the earth. That includes places that have never heard of Jews. What Peter wrote is just as applicable to natives in a South American jungle as it is to a messianic Jew in Jerusalem.

This is called "agree to disagree". (Romans 14:5)

You cannot convince someone that they are incorrect, they have to come to that realization on their own.

True. However, you raised the issue. So I responded. If you don't agree, that's your business. However, you miss out on one of the most important aspects of the Christian life. That also is something I can do nothing about.

Yep, let everyone be fully convinced in their own minds, as Paul advised (Romans 14:5)
