That cicada killer looks just like the thing that I saw several years ago on a wall at a mall. I thought it was some kind of killer bee. It was big. About an inch long. And it had white stripes on it's tail just like in the picture. It didn't seem to care that lots of people were walking by near it. It was definitely alive too because it was moving.
I call bull about the paper wasps. They will sting for no reason.
They really don't have any concept of personal space though. And for some reason, during some years, they will visit my bedroom all the time. It seems to vary by the year - some years I will kill three in one day, last year I didn't see any.

Not sure but I think he is currently destroying "Little Italy" in down town Japan....
