Prayer can be many things. It can be simply repeating a memory verse, it can be a conversation with the Lord, or simply quietly listening for His voice. Another way of prayer is to be guided by a prayer given to us by the lord. The Lord’s Prayer is an example.

Here is way to use visualization with the Lord’s Prayer:

Our Father who art is heaven, hallowed be thy name: Psalms gives us pictures of the Father. He is spirit, creator, all powerful. Visualize what scripture tells of Him.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven: Visualize an earth with no sin in it!

Give us this day our daily bread: See the Lord as supervising what goes in our minds and our bodies.

Forgive us our debts: What power! Jesus is giving us righteousness that lets us live forever!

As we forgive our debtors: We let go of all our grudges against others.

Lead us not into temptation: We ask the Lord to help us want to be sinless.

Deliver us from evil: The Lord protects you from any evil that surrounds you.

For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, Amen.

You get the idea, but your visualization will be guided by the Holy Spirit and it will be just for you. Also, reading many of the Psalms in this way opens up a wonderful spiritual world for you.
I fully concur with your visualization concept. I make it a point to start each day with the Lord's prayer.

Why you use the term visualization for prayer? Prayer is talking with our heavenly father, right? For what need visualization?
If you talk to a family member you are also visualize what you talk to them?
Actually, you do, especially if they are there when you are talking to them.

What a nightmare life would be if we couldn't visualize anything.

You have not read scripture, I take it telling of what the Lord thinks of others calling people "you fool", and you go so against the Lord you say "blockhead".

I have heard of a man who will not allow candles in his house because people who worship the devil use candles. You will not allow your mind to picture anything the Lord tells you because of occult people using pictures. Do you discipline yourself so you never picture a lemon if someone tells you of one? And YOU call ME a blockhead!!!!!
I find it very like throwing cold water on prayer to say that your way is so superior to any other way, when I shared a person thought of prayer. I did not throw cold water on your way, why do you think you can say my way is nothing, all must follow you? Prayer is personal. I am sorry I shared with you, wish you hadn't read my post. One person shared that he often prayed while driving. I hope you don't decide to throw cold water on that prayer of his.
Ok. Engage in eastern mysticism. It's not any of my business.
When you espouse it as a good thing in a public forum so as to mislead others it has to be addressed.

It wasn't prayer to God. Unless you want to start setting up an idol to the Imaginative god.
It would be such a blessing if you would stop this bringing up the occult and then actually trying to bring it together with our thoughts of the Lord. It has no place on a Christian site.

So to you thinking of the Lord is Eastern mysticism, of all the-----I wonder what Christ would say to you?

Are you truly able to discipline your mind so well that you close out any thought that is not abstract? Are you able to only pray with a rote prayer? Do you really want to preach such?

If you were a Christian so you practiced what the Lord tells you to practice, you would encourage, help, and uphold what is of the Lord. Your posts are full of the occult and mysticism, this is a Christian site you are out of line.

The louder you shout, the more right you are?

I guess you would have condemned Paul too when he rebuked the galatians for being foolish, having been bewitched erring into judaizing (Gal.3:1). I was not calling you a fool however, but put the alarm flag up for your personal escapes that are apparent your posts. If it takes a bell to make someone to wake up, I'll use it.

As for "visualizing", this does do perfectly fine for christians:

1Cor.2:

[16] For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.
No need to add anything.

And your posts against prayer in anything but the abstract is using a bell? You preach being able to think without forming any picture of what you are thinking about? I wish there was some way to get you off a Christian site that is working for the Lord.

You have been answered already., and not only by me. No posts against prayers here and you are not going to control what other people post here.

Now it,s name calling? Christian forum? I'll PRAY for you!
Paul said that Cretans were lazy. Will you pray for him too?

10 For there are many who are insubordinate, empty talkers and deceivers, especially those of the circumcision party.[h] 11 They must be silenced, since they are upsetting whole families by teaching for shameful gain what they ought not to teach. 12 One of the Cretans,[i] a prophet of their own, said, “Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, lazy gluttons.”[j] 13 This testimony is true. Therefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith, 14 not devoting themselves to Jewish myths and the commands of people who turn away from the truth. 15 To the pure, all things are pure, but to the defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure; but both their minds and their consciences are defiled. 16 They profess to know God, but they deny him by their works. They are detestable, disobedient, unfit for any good work.

4 Hear the word of the Lord, ye children of Israel: for the Lord hath a controversy with the inhabitants of the land, because there is no truth, nor mercy, nor knowledge of God in the land.
2 By swearing, and lying, and killing, and stealing, and committing adultery, they break out, and blood toucheth blood.
3 Therefore shall the land mourn, and every one that dwelleth therein shall languish, with the beasts of the field, and with the fowls of heaven; yea, the fishes of the sea also shall be taken away.
4 Yet let no man strive, nor reprove another: for thy people are as they that strive with the priest.
5 Therefore shalt thou fall in the day, and the prophet also shall fall with thee in the night, and I will destroy thy mother.
6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.
7 As they were increased, so they sinned against me: therefore will I change their glory into shame.
8 They eat up the sin of my people, and they set their heart on their iniquity.
9 And there shall be, like people, like priest: and I will punish them for their ways, and reward them their doings.
10 For they shall eat, and not have enough: they shall commit whoredom, and shall not increase: because they have left off to take heed to the Lord.
11 Whoredom and wine and new wine take away the heart.
12 My people ask counsel at their stocks, and their staff declareth unto them: for the spirit of whoredoms hath caused them to err, and they have gone a whoring from under their God.
13 They sacrifice upon the tops of the mountains, and burn incense upon the hills, under oaks and poplars and elms, because the shadow thereof is good: therefore your daughters shall commit whoredom, and your spouses shall commit adultery.
14 I will not punish your daughters when they commit whoredom, nor your spouses when they commit adultery: for themselves are separated with whores, and they sacrifice with harlots: therefore the people that doth not understand shall fall.

God said Israel was a whore practicing whoredom with false idols. Will you pray for God?

No, of course not. What are you, like forty years old? Grow up.

And the same Paul called the galatians foolish and bewitched. Guess even Paul won't do for these pious people.

Yup, spiritual immature babes, preoccupied with the feeeeeelings of me, myself and I. They flock at these boards. Spiritual clowns and undisciplined savages.

I disagree with you. You are saying that prayer should be personal, and that there should not be any rules about when or how to pray, yet you object to closing eyes in prayer and it seems you object to my idea of praying with the entire heart and soul in the prayer, as picturing what God is telling us would amount to.
You are welcome to disagree. However I must warn you that I am not really interested in opinions.
