I don't think they have any bearing whatsoever to the Gospel. And even if they find signs of life, so what? It still doesn't have any bearing on the gospel.
In light of the responsibility God has placed upon us by means of the gospel, Martian discoveries have no bearing at all.
On the other hand, there are many that will argue any stupid thing they can think of that will subvert the power of Christ's salvation unto mankind. Discoveries on Mars, which include an ancient civilization, do not in any way detract from the reality of God or the wonder of His gift of immortal life to those who accept His death upon the cross.
This is my purpose in sharing these Martian matters. They are of interest intellectually and possibly morally. They are of no impact at all with regard to the responsibility God places upon mankind to surrender to His will.
The discovery of intelligent life, which existed at one time on Mars, does nothing at all to detract from the Bible story.
The Bible is consistent with its own theme, which is the fall and redemption of man.
It has nothing at all to do with dinosaurs, tectonic plate movement, prehistoric plant life, glacial movements across the earth, or the astronomical assortment of heavenly bodies. It is first and foremost about God's desire to redeem mankind from SIN.
Again, the Bible suggests the same fate awaits Earth as befell Mars - nuclear destruction. Does it not?
Therefore we are encouraged one and all to make peace with God while that opportunity persists.
I believe this to be the most important conclusion we can assume from our discoveries on the Red Planet.
that's me, hollering from the choir loft...
