God tells us in His Word that the wicked have the capability of turning from their evil ways:

Ezekiel 33:11 Say unto them, As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die ...
Man rejects God naturally. Man by nature is at enmity against God Rom 8

7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
And yet God tells the wicked to turn from his way and live ... even though (according to you) that is an impossibility.

You need to go back to Romans 1 and learn the lesson God lays out there. Rom 1:18-20 tells us what occurs in those who do not believe. It's not that they can't turn from their wicked ways as instructed in Ez 33:11. It's that they reject the truth of God's Word when it is shared with them. On the other hand, the believer does not reject the truth when someone shares God's Word with them.

Romans 1:

18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;

19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.

20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

Rom 1:18-20 tells us that God makes plain His eternal power and Godhead ... however, this truth is suppressed. The word "hold" in vs 18 is the Greek word katechō and it means to suppress; hold back; restrain. When the Word of God is spoken, the hearer restrains the truth from reaching his/her heart.

It is clear from vs 19 that God reveals His eternal power and Godhead and it is clear from vs 18 that it is the person who rejects the truth.

The ones who do not come to repentance reject that which God "grants" to them.

Man naturally can't repent, that is why the Saviour must give it. Acts 5:31

31 Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.

Repentance is a gift and it is limited to whom it is given to.
Then you need to back up your beliefs with a verse that says repentence is an ' exclusive gift ' and withheld from some. Nothing of the sort is there . Its made up .

brightfame52, look at the next verses and keep in mind the verses in Romans 1 which speak about those who suppress the truth in unrighteousness:

Acts 5:

29 Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.

30 The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged on a tree.

31 Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give [Greek didomi] repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.

32 And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given [Greek didomi] to them that obey him.

33 When they heard that, they were cut to the heart, and took counsel to slay them.

Acts 5:31 and 32 speak of those who do not suppress the truth in unrighteousness. They are granted repentance and forgiveness of sins and receive the gift of Holy Spirit.

In vs 33, those who took counsel to slay them suppressed the truth in unrighteousness.

Also recall 2 Corinthians 7:10 in reading the record in Acts 5:

2 Corinthians 7:10 For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.

The men of the council in Acts 5 were cut to the heart ... i.e. they experienced the sorrow of the world ... but fell short of godly sorrow. If they had experienced godly sorrow, the result would have been repentance.

Nothing has changed friend, Repentance is the Gift of God, so in essence, obedience is the Gift of God since repentance is an act of evangelical obedience.

You have . And as yet we don't have the verses that actually say what you belief . This is how the bible works. It says things. If you just went with what it says and let go of your beliefs it will read clear.

Put together your "obedience is the Gift of God since repentance is an act of evangelical obedience" with what you read in Romans 1:18-32 and what you've got is everyone has this "Gift of God" ... however, those who suppress the truth in unrighteousness reject the"Gift of God".

You sound confused. Repentance is a Gift of God, something God does in a individual, a new creation ! The New Creation doesnt suppress truth, it hungers and thirst for truth and righteousness.

Repentance accompanies redemption by the blood of Christ. Isa 51:11

11 Therefore the redeemed of the Lord shall return, and come with singing unto Zion; and everlasting joy shall be upon their head: they shall obtain gladness and joy; and sorrow and mourning shall flee away.

Now even though this may have a historical fulfillment with children of israel, it also has an analogous fulfillment for Spiritual Israel, the Church/Body of Christ whom He redeemed by His Precius Blood 1 Pet 1:18-19

18 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;

19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:

Now notice the promise of the redeemed in Vs 11 they shall return. The word return here is shuwb and means:

to return, turn back

to turn back (to God), repent

And the same is said of the redeemed in 1 Pet 2:25

25 For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.

The word returned epistrephō:
  1. to turn to 16
    1. to the worship of the true God
  2. to cause to return, to bring back
Also the verb returned is in the passive voice which means:

Represents the subject as being the recipient of the action. e.g., in the sentence, "we were comforted" the subject "we" receives the action

So they were being returned by the redemption in Christ Jesus, which is their repentance towards God.

So all whom Christ died for and redeemed by His Blood, shall be given repentance and returned back to God.

All the glory for salvation belongs to God, He has done all that was necessary for the salvation of a man, including the granting of the gift of repentance . Repentance is given furnished in and through Christ because it was necessary for mans Salvation experience. There's a verse that says with Christ, God freely gives us all things Rom 8:32

32 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?

So with Christ He gives repentance Acts 5:31;11:18

The word grant or give in these verses is the word didōmi and means:
to supply, furnish, necessary things 19

So is repentance necessary for the Salvatiion experience ? Absolutely, its necessary for repentance to be towards God Acts 20:21

Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.

Acts 17:30
And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:

But no worries since through Christ God furnishes, supplies this needed repentance repentance, and it will be applied by Christ.

Christ is a full Saviour !

Are Faith and Repentance evangelical truths that must be preached ? The answer is absolutely yes, Jesus said Lk 24:47

And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

So its no doubt that sound Gospel preaching includes repentance. However where men go wrong is when they make repentance and or faith conditions for Justification before God ! They say that men and women for whom Christ died are not justified, made righteous before God without them ! They are in essence saying that everything Christ did for them in His Person and Work fell short in making them righteous/justified before God. 1b

Romans 10 . Let's see if we believe what the bible says here .
10For with the HEART man BELEIVETH unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

No heart or mouth is dead here .

Do we believe what the bible says here ?
Rom 5.2
2By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

What Calvinists imagine .

2By whom also we have access by grace into this faith wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

Let's see if we believe what scripture says or what Calvinism teaches .
Eph1
13¶In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
How Calvinism distorts the text to say :

13¶In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, Ye believed .

4 And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?

5 And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks.
