Oh, speaking of cheese cakes: a cheese cake would also make a nice Valentine cake.
Who doesn't like cheese cake? And it is quite simple to make, though can be a bit pricey.
The one I have made again and again for special occasions (used to be a Christmas fave)
was a white chocolate cheesecake. The recipe called for a kilogram of cream cheese
(four 250 gram packages brought to room temp.), a half pound of butter (also room temp
or melted), four eggs, and 12-16 ounces of white chocolate, also melted. The recipe also
included sugar, but very little - or even none - is required with all the white chocolate.
After blending all the ingredients thoroughly, it is baked in a spring-form pan for 30
minutes only at 350* F, and will look loose when removed from the oven. This cake
requires a full 24 hour refrigerated cooling before removing from the pan. The cream
cheese mix is added to a cookie crumble base that you bake for 10 minutes while
mixing the other ingredients. Often a graham cracker base is called for, but I would
instead crush shortbread cookies and chocolate wafers to make a chocolate base for
the chocolate cheese cakeThe cake is quite heavy and the base is very solid once
the crumbled cookies are mixed with a bit of butter and extra sugar and baked.
I would top this cake with the sour cream and chocolate mixture over top of fresh raspberries

Well, the OP of this thread, Old Hermit, said hello earlier today; he makes a habit of popping by occasionally to grace us with his elusive presence. Mailman Dan and wee Elephant post regularly, and Jerry and Darlene also, though Jerry much more often than Darlene; they have recently moved from Florida to Tennessee... plus a relative newcomer also by the name of John who has been sharing his culinary delights with us

Safe to say that Magenta is forever yours? It’s impossible to hear it and not automatically think of ya?
Which must be cool...I thought only Bezos or Zuckerberg had the type of money to buy a color flat out.
That’s stuff only the wealthy own and pass down to their heirs.
Colors. Space. The letter B. The wheel. Sign Language. Pockets of Air (in some countries)
I think they may even own the word ”Hello” (technically we are to pay them .0089 of a cent every time we use it, luckily they let us slide (see law GHMJP-65144)

A time where things were simple, bbq’s and block parties. Lemonade stands lined our streets, and not being ran by a local sister company of Amazon or Google.
Old Glory was flown with pride and our Televisons only had 139 channels.
Our children could walk the streets confident and with their heads held high (and not because their faces were stuck looking down at their phones “TikToking” it)

when my kiddos were itty bits we'd go into a store and pull out a shopping cart, then I'd have to lift them up into it.
I at first was careful to watch for anyone who might be around us so as not to swing into them. But as they got a little bigger and heavier the focus became to just get them up and into the cart, people really shouldn't be walking THAT close to anyone (especially a young family) to begin with.
I lost count within the first week of how many people walked into my kids swinging feet because they were to focussed on the device in their hands. Most of them just looked dazed and confused when they got hit, but a couple tried to get nasty about it. But between my mom glare and comments from others around who saw it, those nasties ended real quick.
THEN a few years later, we were out for a walk, and stopped at a red light with the pedestrian crossing light
A young guy (16-18ish) is walking up behind us so engaged with the device in his hand that he WALKS into the street WITHOUT stopping to even check and see if any traffic was coming. My daughter was 3 or 4 at the time, and said "Boy he's a big dummy" well He must've heard that because he stopped, looked up and around, then stepped back onto the curb with a red face. I'd like to say people like that need to realize this is simple common sense stuff, but then again common sense isn't so common anymore.
