Of late I have noticed how many people are posting their views on various topics and are either relying on their personal views on the topic and ignoring what the scripture teaches or they are basing their comments on their denominations view of the subject matter. Not once do they seem to question what the denomination teaches giving the impression their denomination is right and everyone else is wrong or worst still giving the impression the denomination is right and the scripture is wrong.
Even worse still they might throw up a verse to prove that they are right and ignore all the other verses on the subject. As a result they have misinterpreted the verse they use in ignoring all the other verses on the subject. And when you challenge their interpretation of something they give the impression that they are right because that one verse proves it. In other words they are not prepared to study the scriptures. All they want to do is give credence to a bee in their bonnet they have.
I may be wrong but I get the impressioin that these people think they have the ability to teach and expound the scriptures whereas anyone with a modicum of understanding of scripture could shoot them down in flames. The fact that they don't shows how much grace is exercised by a lot of people here.
A lot of the time I read a post and raise my eyebrows in disgust and move on to the next one as the person who wrote it is in cloud cuckoo land so saying anything is a waste of time.
A wise saying is to listen twice as much as you speak (two ears, one mouth). I have spent a lifetime of listening to teachers from all walks of life and have been able to sift the good from the bad and as a result learn. As an example I followed the teaching of the prosperity gospel preachers who want you to to be rich because the richer you are the richer they are. I looked at both sides of the equasion and discovered that what these preachers call rich is not what God calls rich. When I discovered that, I ditched it quick smart. I am now following God's meaning of rich and could not be happier because it works.
So before you put pen to paper or finger to keyboard, please make sure you know what you are talking about. Don't make it an exercise in hot air because you have got some impression that everyone is dying to hear your take on things and because it gives you a good feeling to say what you say. No one is going to object to an enquiring mind but one that gives the impression they are something they are not is tiresome.
