Only God and maybe that person knows if that person believed from the heart. It says you must believe in your HEART.

A person can join a church, publically profess Christ, have the right creed, pray the “right” words, etc without ever believing from the heart.
Amen, no one expected judas was a nonbeliever up until the time he was exposed by jesus

I did not think so either
I can understand what the poster was trying to say. But for me it came across as burdensome and accusatory.
You will/must and don't use it as a license to sin.

I addressed that in my response concerning what Paul said in Romans.

My point was totally missed.

Peter and Jesus restoration I mentioned.

No but if your love for Christ is true you will go out and do those works and make them part of your life. This is not an excuse to be lazy or not change your life. Do not mistake it for a license to sin.
I agree with you, bro.
John 14:15If ye love me, keep my commandments.
21He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him. 22Judas saith unto him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world? 23Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. 24He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me.

Jesus was our example that we should follow in His steps. Since Jesus wasn't a lazy example, we shouldn't be a lazy servant, right?

If you MOTIVE for doing them is to get SAVED, or to do your Part for Salvation, or Improve your chances to get to Heaven, IT IS JUST WOOD, HAY, and STUBBLE AT BEST. OR at the LEAST, it is NOTHING BUT FILTHY RAGS. If your MOTIVE is not AGAPE LOVE, it is worthless to GOD.

It does not get any plainer..........Our righteous works have ZERO to do with Salvation!

English Standard Version
he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit,

Berean Study Bible
He saved us, not by the righteous deeds we had done, but according to His mercy, through the washing of new birth and renewal by the Holy Spirit.

Berean Literal Bible
He saved us, not by works in righteousness that we did, but according to His mercy, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit,

New American Standard Bible
He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit,

King James Bible
Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

Every gift has a requirement. You give Christmas presents to your family because you chose to give them to family- therefore “family” is a requirement. The president of the U.S. didn't get one because he’s not your family. You give a gift to your friend on their birthday. Your family didn’t get presents on your friend’s birthday because you created a requirement by choosing who and when. God also chooses who and when. God has made a requirement to receive the gift of salvation. “That requirement is “obedient onto death”.

It is impossible for our obedience to earn salvation, therefore God can use it as a requirement on whom He chooses to give that gift to. Gifts can have requirements. For example, If a company chooses to give a Christmas bonus of $100 to their employees, a customer cannot complain that they didn’t get a $100. The employees did not earn that $100, and the customer did not earn the $100, so what’s the difference? The difference is the company can choose to give it to whomever they want, and they chose to give it to their employees- therefore being an employee is a requirement for the gift.

Later this same company chooses to give $100 to their first 10 customers of the new year. An employee cannot complain that they didn’t get $100. The customer did not earn the gift, and the employee did not earn the gift, so what’s the difference? The difference is the company can choose to give it to whomever they want, and they chose to give it to their first ten customers after New Years- therefore being not only a customer, but one of the first ten customers to make a purchase after the new year, is a requirement. God chooses to give salvation to those who obey Him- obedience is a requirement for the gift. It was impossible for the customer to earn the $100 just by walking into the store and making a purchase, it was impossible for the worker to earn an extra $100 outside of their working hours, and it is impossible for us to earn salvation. But it is possible for God to put a requirement on His gift of salvation, and He has, and it is “Obedient until death.”

Yes I agree it that Jesus was and is our example.

If we look at the word love based on verse 21 we find its the word called Agape(Agapao)

Basically this is unconditional love, the love Jesus has for us to die on the cross to be reconciled to the Father.

Interesting concerning the restoration of Peter.
The first two times when Jesus asks "Do you love me? He uses the word Agape.
Peter responds with "You know that I love you" He uses the word Phileo affectionate type of love.

When Jesus asked him the third time he uses the word Phileo. Then Peter gets upset.

And he still responds with I Phileo you.

On each three times we find that every time Jesus said to Peter after we responded

Feed my lambs. Tend my sheep. Feed my sheep.

Now the post you responded to I had an issue with which I raised.

The post being
No but if your love for Christ is true you will go out and do those works and make them part of your life. This is not an excuse to be lazy or not change your life. Do not mistake it for a license to sin.
Now the issues I raised concerned

Love for Christ is true then you will go out and do those works.
The last two sentences make not sense. Which I also addressed.
If your love for Christ is true then you will not want to be lazy or not change your life.
Neither will want to mistake as a license to sin.
I addressed this with what Paul said in Romans 5. He said the same thing.
I feel that that if a believer thinks that then they need to be corrected.
If they reject it then there is an issue.

The point overall for me is.
Do not place a burden on a person who is a lamb. "you will do" and if you don't then it can come across as being lazy and an excuse to sin.

That is not feeding the lamb.

Jesus fed the lambs who grew into sheep. He tended them.

So for me with Peter, he fed him he grew to a sheep then Jesus said the third time feed my sheep.

Basically moveing from Phileo to Apape. Which we know Peter did.

Peter had to learn a lot and move from the Phileo to Agape when Jesus ascended to heaven.

Lambs in Jesus will need feeding to grow as sheep.
To say to lamb if your love for Jesus is true then you will go out and do those works for me is wrong.

Just as Peter with the right feeding and tending they will move from Phileo to Agape.
As @VCO states if the works are not Agape they are worthless.

To frighten someone which I thought the post your responded could do could damage the lamb and their walk with God.

You examples are flawed in the fact god does not just offer his gift to his family or a particular group of people, he offered it to everyone,

for god so loved the world. Not just a select group, that whoever believes.

believe is not a requirement because it is not an action, it is a state which causes an action

the tax collector got on his knee to cry out for mercy, God gave it to him, he did not earn salvation by any requirement, he called out and God acted

Your theory is COMPLETELY WRONG. A TRUE GIFT HAS NO REQUIREMENT.

Romans 11:6 (NASB)
6 But if it is by grace, it is no longer on the basis of works, otherwise grace is no longer grace.

Romans 4:3-5 (HCSB)
3 For what does the Scripture say? Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him for righteousness.
4 Now to the one who works, pay is not considered as a gift, but as something owed.
5 But to the one who does not work, but believes on Him who declares the ungodly to be righteous, his faith is credited for righteousness.

Romans 3:28 (GWT)
28 We conclude that a person has God's approval by faith, not by his own efforts.

WHY ? ? ?

2 Timothy 1:9 (HCSB)
9 He has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to
His own purpose and grace
, which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began. 🡸 End of subject.

If a gift has a requirement it is not a gift.

a gift is freely given

anything given which had a requirement, is a reward, a payment, a salary, they are earned by the receiver for fulfilling the requirement, the receiver can boast, because he worked for it,

the Bible says we are saved by grace through faith, not of works (requirements) lest anyone should boast.

you can’t earn salvation by being part of a family (christian) , a nation (Israel) or a people (Jew)
