Was the crucifixion that Jesus endured the worst possible suffering a human could experience?

It's nothing compared to the suffering of those in Hell.

So why was the crucifixion necessary?
 
Enduring suffering when you don't need to...not something that I would want to do.

Just saying...Jesus doesn't need us... merely a want.

Who DOES 'need' to endure suffering? Only God knows, after all He created suffering.

Please remember not only was Jesus suffering great to where he was beaten to the point of death and looked like an animal he suffered for you and me. Jesus did not have to HE willfully endured it.

Jesus stayed on that cross, displaying the love and patience God has toward sinners who despise him.
You're wrong Goldensparrow. You're misreading the scripture, as I once did.

Who HAS to suffer? And why did he ask God (himself?) why he'd been forsaken? My question was was Jesus' suffering disprortionate to that of others? Did he suffer any more than any other criminal sent to the cross?
 
I don't know of it's the worst, however it is exceedingly horrific. To be beaten with a whip is horrific enough, but to add to that nailed up and hung up in the hot sun, to die a slow agonizing death.
The Romans later burned Christians at the stake. This sounds very horrific as well.

He died for the sins of the world . willingly. For his enemies . For the ones mocking him ,spitting in his face , ripping his beard out , driving the nails into his hands and feet .

Disproportionate in the sense he did not deserve the punishment.
