It's nothing compared to the suffering of those in Hell.Worse things have been done, and done for years to people. I'm thankful Christ only had to endure what he did for the time it lasted rather than twice as long etc.

So why was the crucifixion necessary?I am sorry, Journeyman. I am a human. I do believe Jesus did suffer more than others who have been tortured. I do believe the Lord was suffering his Father's judgement in our place. Yes, sinners did torture and execute the Messiah in an earthly manner. Yeshua (Jesus) was perfectly capable of coming down off that cross at any time if he had so chosen to do so and put a stop to what they were doing to him. However, he chose to stay in order to take the judgement for the sins of the all humanity so salvation would be a possibility.
They certainly couldn't claim it was an accident. So why was the crucifixion necessary?
Nothing is an accident. Why? 'Because God'.They certainly couldn't claim it was an accident.
Who DOES 'need' to endure suffering? Only God knows, after all He created suffering.Enduring suffering when you don't need to...not something that I would want to do.
Just saying...Jesus doesn't need us... merely a want.
So why was the crucifixion necessary?
About a year. For how long have you been a Christian, VickyK?
About a year.
Jesus was purposed from before the foundation of the world, to shed His blood for the remission of sin.Nothing is an accident. Why? 'Because God'.
Meaning, was it the ultimate suffering that no other human would ever possibly compare to have experienced?

Jesus stayed on that cross, displaying the love and patience God has toward sinners who despise him.I am sorry, Journeyman. I am a human. I do believe Jesus did suffer more than others who have been tortured. I do believe the Lord was suffering his Father's judgement in our place. Who HAS to suffer? And why did he ask God (himself?) why he'd been forsaken? My question was was Jesus' suffering disprortionate to that of others? Did he suffer any more than any other criminal sent to the cross? Please remember not only was Jesus suffering great to where he was beaten to the point of death and looked like an animal he suffered for you and me. Jesus did not have to HE willfully endured it.
have you read the story of the crucifixion ?Who HAS to suffer? And why did he ask God (himself?) why he'd been forsaken? My question was was Jesus' suffering disprortionate to that of others? Did he suffer any more than any other criminal sent to the cross?
He died for the sins of the world . willingly. For his enemies . For the ones mocking him ,spitting in his face , ripping his beard out , driving the nails into his hands and feet .Why was God punishing himself?
Well surely humans will endure eternal suffering, surely by definition that suffering would be worse than what God endured?
Disproportionate in the sense he did not deserve the punishment.Who HAS to suffer? And why did he ask God (himself?) why he'd been forsaken? My question was was Jesus' suffering disprortionate to that of others? Did he suffer any more than any other criminal sent to the cross?
I don't think it was a competition. It's nothing compared to the suffering of those in Hell.
That wasn't the goal .Meaning, was it the ultimate suffering that no other human would ever possibly compare to have experienced?
Jesus was quoting Psalm 22, and fulfilling prophecy.Who HAS to suffer? And why did he ask God (himself?) why he'd been forsaken?
