Eph 1: 3-7 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ. According as he hath chosen us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him, in love. Having predestinated us unto the adoption of sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according too the good pleasure of His will.To the praise of the glory of His grace, through which He hath made us accepted in the Beloved; In whom we have redemption through His Blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace.
Again baptism in the name of the Father because He has chosen us, baptism in the name of the Son because our sins are removed and we are without blame, and baptism in the name of the Holy Spirit because we are filled with the same love shared by the Father and Son which is the bond of perfection. Being Baptized in the name of the Father means that you were chosen in Christ ( because when you receive the Holy Spirit of God, you become part of Jesus' body and you are in Christ) before the foundation of the world ( which means that the Father transcends time and can manipulate events according to the good pleasure of His will) . Because we are part of Jesus' body and Jesus is the Father's son, the Father adopts us as His children and we will inherit the same spiritual blessings that is given to Jesus.
Ephesians 1: 8-10 In which he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence, Having made known unto us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure which He hath purposed in Himself; That in the dispensation of the fullness of times he might gather together in One all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth, even (that is) in Him.
Those that are chosen are in Christ and receive the wisdom, prudence , and knowledge and understanding of the mystery of His will. In the dispensation of the fullness of times ( at the end when justice will be administered) , God will separate the wheat ( those that are in Christ) from the tares (the unsaved).
Ephesians 1: 11 In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of Him who worketh all things after the counsel of His own will.
Again baptism in the name of the Father because He has chosen us, baptism in the name of the Son because our sins are removed and we are without blame, and baptism in the name of the Holy Spirit because we are filled with the same love shared by the Father and Son which is the bond of perfection.
Colossians 3: 12-14 Put on, therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, tender mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, long suffering; Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any; even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. And above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfectness.
Ephesians 1: 13-14 In whom ye also trusted, after ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also after ye believed, ye were sealed with that Holy Spirit of promise, Who is the earnest (security) of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of His glory.
Romans 9: 15-16 For He saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have commpassion on whom I will have compassion. So, then, it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that showeth mercy.
The Father chooses.
John 17: 5-7 And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was. I have manifested thy name unto the men whom thou gavest me out of the world; thine they were, and thou gavest them to me, and they have kept thy word. Now they have known that all things, whatever thou hast given me, are of thee.
John 6: 37 All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.
John 17: 11 And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are.
John 17: 20 Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also who shall believe on me through their word; That they all may be one, as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us; that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them, that they may be one, even as we are one.
John 17: 2 As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.
The above verse expresses the Baptism in the name of the Father and of the Son.
1 John 1: 9-10 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us ou sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.
If we are granted the repentance that leads to salvation, He is faithful in providing the gospel of Jesus Christ through the Bible or through other Christians. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar because in the Bible, He clearly says that all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. See Romans 3: 23.
2 Peter 3: 9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness, but is long-suffering toward us, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
In this verse Peter is talking about those that are Chosen by God in the past, present, and future. Humanity continues to exist as long as there are still chosen people that need to hear the gospel and be granted the repentance that leads to salvation.
John 6: 39 And this is the Father's will who hath sent me, that of all that he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.
John 6: 44 No man can come to me, except the Father, who hath sent me, draw him; and I will raise him up at the last day.
It is the Father that starts the road to salvation. In the above verse, the word "draw" comes from the same Greek word used in Acts 16: 19 And when her masters saw that the hope of their gains was gone, they caught Paul and Silas, and drew (dragged) them into the market place unto the rulers. Obviously, the word does not mean to entice. When the Father grants a person repentance, that repentance is so deep that it touches the heart and soul of the person who then turns to God for forgiveness. That is how the Father draws a person.
Acts 13: 48 And when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of the Lord; and as many as were ordained to eternal life believed.
Those that were ordained to eternal life and believed were those that were chosen before the world was.
Romans 9: 11-13 ( For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of Him that calleth), It was said unto her, The elder shall serve the younger. As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated.
Jacob was chosen even before he was born. So are we.
2 Thessalonians 2: 13-14 But we are bound to give thanks always to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth, Unto which he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Romans 2: 4 Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forebearance and long-suffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?
2 Cor 7: 10 For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of; but the sorrow of the world worketh death.
2 Timothy 2: 24-25 And the servant of the Lord must not strive, but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, In meekness instructing those that oppose him if God, perhaps, will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth,
Matthew 11: 20 Then began He to upbraid the cities in which most of his mighty works were done, because they repented not;
Ezekiel 36: 25-28 Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean; from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you. A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you; and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep mine ordinances, and do them.
Here God is talking to the nation of Israel, but what He is going to do to Israel looks pretty similar to what He does to those He chooses.
