33 ad. But in Gods estimation, who is Eternal, and not confined to time, He was slain from the foundation of the world Rev 13:8. So He viewed Christ already slain in Jn 8 24.

OT Prohecy had Him already slain for sins Isa 53:

All we like sheep have gone astray;
we have turned every one to his own way;
and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.
7 He was oppressed, and he was afflicted,
yet he opened not his mouth:
he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter,
and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb,
so he openeth not his mouth.
8 He was taken from prison and from judgment:
and who shall declare his generation?
for he was cut off out of the land of the living:
for the transgression of my people was he stricken.
Jesus was ONLY ACTUALLY!! crucified 2000 years ago not before . Anything other than believing this is nonsense .

i think you should deal with 1 John 2:2 before you keep going around making this statement.
The "world" in 1 John 2:2, is the world of believers, also the same world in John 1:29, 3:16, 3:17, 6:33, 12:47, 1 Cor 4:9, 2 Cor 5:19, according to Thayer's Concordance.

John 3:16
16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Christ died for the sins of the world, past, present, and future. So all who are of the world had either 1 of 3 ways to seek salvation. They had the Old Testament and sacrificial way in the preparation of the Messiah to come. Faith in the future of Jesus. We have the New Testament which is faith in Jesus who came and will return. Then for those without the written law or knowing of Christ, they have the moral law as described in Romans 2.

The blood of Christ covered all the sins of the world. It is by grace that God die this and through faith or whoever will believe. The gift is for all but God knows who will accept it. The invitation for all, but God knows who will be at the wedding banquet.
God by his foreknowledge saw that no one would seek him, no, not one. Ps 53:2

Now them Christ died for cant have sin imputed to them,
which verse says this?
John 8:24 says people die in their sins because of unbelief, not because no propitiation is made for them.

be sons of your Father in heaven;
for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good,
and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.

(Matthew 5:45)
this is the commandment. what does it reveal about the Father? are your assertions according to the character of God as testified by the scripture, or contrary to them?

Yes it does . No one will be in hell paying for sins . Jesus paid for all sins .
Matt 25:43, I was a stranger, and ye took m e not in, naked, and ye clothed me not, sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not. Are these things a sin? They must be, because in verse 45, he says, And these shall go away into everlasting punishment. Are they not in hell paying for their sins?

as He has loved us, so love.
therefore should we hold back salvation from the lost? or hold it out to them?

Those Christ died for are saved
oh, do you believe in universalism?

because 1 John 2:2, 1 Corinthians 5:14-15 & Hebrews 2:9 are facts:
  • Christ is the propitiation for the whole world, not only us.
  • Christ died for all people.
  • Christ tasted death for every man.
this is the Truth.

get wisdom:
"
all oranges are fruit" does not imply "all fruits are oranges"

He is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
(1 John 2:2)
clearly "our" -- the group being written to, which John is a member of -- is different than "the whole world" because the Spirit expressly says 'not ours only but also' -- there is no honest way of getting around that.

so who is the group this letter is addressed to? a specific church?

These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God
(1 John 5:13)
it is written to all who believe. so you can directly substitute that in chapter 2 -- He is the propitiation for the sins of those who believe on His name: and not the sins of those who believe on the name of the Son of God only, but also for the sins of the whole world.

in reply to other instances of the word 'kosmos' in 1 John 2:2 it isn't just 'kosmos' -- which most certainly is not exclusively used for "believers" it is in fact most often used in contrast to "the church", perhaps most forcefully when in John 17 Jesus says that believers are not of the world -- here in this verse it is "ὅλου τοῦ κόσμου" all the world

The wrath of God is on the Christ rejectors ....who do those things . Thats how they are chaaracterised by those deeds.
Whom the Lord loveth, he chasteneth, God does not chasten the wicked that are not his elect, Psalms 73:5, They are not in trouble as other men; neither are they "PLAGUED"= divinely punished, like other men. David was envious until he saw their end, verse 17.

Are they not in hell paying for their sins?
i believe the apostle describes this as receiving the wages of sin, not paying for sin.

eternal punishment is their paycheck, not their utility bill.

I'll never understand why ardent Calvinists persist in attempting to govern over the Grace of God. Isn't his record in Geneva enough to raise an eyebrow?

John 3:18

How can this be if all sins have been atoned?

Romans 8:1-2 Describes the people that the atonement is applied to.

All you have to do is reconcile these scriptures together and you see what "the whole world" really means 1 John 2:2. It doesn't mean that everyone is in Christ. The "sins of the whole world" must mean sins of believers in Christ, past, present and future.
There is no getting away from what that bible says . Jesus died for the sins of the whole world . The error is to believe this saves everyone .

God by his foreknowledge saw that no one would seek him, no, not one. Ps 53:2
As to why God first seeks out the hearts of man. It is left to man how they will respond. It was first Adam and Eve who ran and hid in the garden but God pursued. God asked, "Where are you?"
It wasn't like God didn't know. He pursued and wanted a response.

Psalm 119:2
2 Blessed are those who keep his testimonies,
who seek him with their whole heart,

A relationship. God pursues us while we reap the benefits of seeking Him.

John 6:44
44 No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him. And I will raise him up on the last day.

God pursues us but also many rebel from God's power and divine nature. Making therefore ALL to be without excuse.

Romans 1:20
20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.

John 3:16
16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Whoever is an invitation to all who will put their faith in Christ. Obviously not all will but God is patiently waiting until the full number He has foreknown on who would respond.

This plan was predestined by God. This route of salvation. God also knows who the willing vessels are like Noah, Moses, or a modern Christian. Easily knowing who He can achieve His will throughout history.

There is no getting away from what that bible says . Jesus died for the sins of the whole world . The error is to believe this saves everyone .
Another error is to believe that God wasn't willing to save all of mankind. God was and is willing but God honors the will of man to freely love Him or freely deny Him. So to clarify. God wishes for all to be saved.

1 Timothy 2:3-4
New International Version

3 This is good, and pleases God our Savior, 4 who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.

Why want when you are God? Why does God want His creation to respond?

He is GOD. God could literally just speak the word obey and all of mankind would instantly be saved.

God wants because God knows not everyone will choose Him. Leaving the evidence of choice and free will.

God will not impute the sin of unbelief to those Christ died for, since it along with all their sins, has been already imputed to Christ, so He will have mercy on their unbelief Rom 11:32

32 For God hath concluded them all in unbelief, that he might have mercy upon all.

If God was to condemn one Christ died for for their unbelief, then He denied them mercy !

But nevertheless this verse attests to the mercy God promises under the New Covenant which Christ is Mediator Heb 8:12

Heb 8:12

12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.20

Preaching of the Cross is said to be foolishness to many so not surprised you say such.
