Hello everyone, Thank you for your time reading my question!
I was out on a date with a woman that said that there were sun signs (like gemini, scorpio, libra, ect) written in the Hebrew that talked about characteristics of people and importance for compatibility? Is this true? My family in the past 5 years have said anything with sun signs is devilish that talks about a person's characteristics. I have never believed in or used horiscopes (in my opinion, these are not from God). I used to believe that there were certain characteristics that sun signs had on a person's personality but have now moved away from that. Anyone know any truth on this? Thanks and God bless!

Paul made reference to many weird Greek things, but he never advocated the worship of them.

Acts

17:23 For as I passed by, and beheld your devotions, I found an altar with this inscription, TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Whom therefore ye ignorantly worship, him declare I unto you.
17:24 God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands;
17:25 Neither is worshipped with men's hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things;

17:29 Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man's device.
17:30 And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:

personally I had no idea that hebrews had sun signs but it doesn't surprise me the sun moon stars and the hevaenly bodies in general were often used by them for many things.
I don't dive to deep into these kind of things but for fun I tried looking up my horoscope which was actually scary accurate I wondered if there was anything to this number thing you know calculating your name and date of birth for your personality which was again scary accurate my sister begged and begged me to let her use her tarrot cards on me which for a long time I refused but for her birthday I let her again scary accurate
while I normally tend to stay away from these things I can say they can be really accurate whether they are from God or not I cannot say they are but then asgain how could the enemy know us that well especially with our horoscopes which were set into place as star constellations by God to begin with

Anyways while it may be an interesting subject I would reccomend staying away from it

Don't think so, but the Bible does speak to forecasting weather...

Matthew
16:1 The Pharisees also with the Sadducees came, and tempting desired him that he would shew them a sign from heaven.
16:2 He answered and said unto them, When it is evening, ye say, [It will be] fair weather: for the sky is red.
16:3 And in the morning, [It will be] foul weather to day: for the sky is red and lowring. O [ye] hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not [discern] the signs of the times?

That is because the Devil is scary real.

By the way. Their is nothing wrong with Astronomy and memorizing constellations for navigational purposes. That is how maritime travel was accomplished in Jesus day. That is why Jesus put them there in the first place...

Genesis 1:14 And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:

I use biblical astrology you know the book of revelation is literally written in the constellations from the virgin mary bithing the savior to the end where God literally wrote his entire story in the heavens

No, I did not know this. I knew about Draco and Virgo, but I never connected them to the Bible. Perhaps one could?...

Revelation
12:1 And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars:
12:2 And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered.
12:3 And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads.
12:4 And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born.

Yeah you need special software that shows all the constellations I can't remember the name of it but you can even see where planets and stars have travelled all the way to the birth of Christ

Actually, yes I know a lot about this. I got interested in astrology a few years back. There was a bookstore that had all sorts of info on astrology. I quickly became a savant and started doing charts, my own included. I even almost started a business and had a couple clients. I could have started a booming business as I could do all sorts of charts.
Then I started to realize that the charts were prophesizing peoples lives. Was it right that the planets are the dictators of our lives? That was the epiphany that led me to do a study of the origin of astrology.
What I found out was the powers in astrology are 'under the curse' making people behave carnally (w/o God) toward themselves and toward others. When we accept Jesus we are born of the Spirit and not our knee-jerk reactions to others. If two people initially think they don't like each other the sun signs will agree that they are incompatible. Under the Anointing, we love each other, the 2nd greatest commandment Jesus gave us.
This of course is my experience and I hope at least it gives you some new understanding on this, that took me years to figure out:)

Yes, sometimes they come free when you get a new telescope. I remember the first time I saw, with my own telescope, the Rings of Saturn and the Great Spot of Jupiter with all its little moons. It was only then that I began to realize the great scale and wonder of it all. On most any clear night in the north, you can see the Great Dragon wrapped around the North Star. Just get a standard astronomy book with star charts and then look up.

One must be careful to never get Astronomy confused with Astrology. One is of God, the other is of the Devil.

This sums it up.

It is a sign of the end times that it is so popular to believe in the stars as our guide rather than the Lord as our guide that every newspaper speaks to these people.

The police will tell you that when there is a full moon, there is trouble. The trouble is always with those who are no led by the Lord.

The book of Colossians speaks of false prophets in their congregation who worship according to the seasons, as in solstice celebrations. People use these scriptures to justify not honoring feasts because they are assigned a certain date, but then they assign a certain date to Easter and Christmas and say that is OK.

ISA. 47:13.
you are wearied in the multitude of your 'counsels'.
Let now the astrologers, the stargazers, the monthly prognosticators, stand up, and save you
from these things that shall come upon you.

Hello everyone, Thank you for your time reading my question!

I used to believe that there were certain characteristics that sun signs had on a person's personality but have now moved away from that. Anyone know any truth on this? Thanks and God bless!

I've observed 3 main tricks these people use every time when trying to convince others.

First is called cold reading - it is something that astrologers and various fortune tellers do: making quick conclusion about your personality based on the way you dress, mannerisms... sometimes it gets completely insipid, they see a fashionably dressed person and tell them "beauty is important to you" or "you like attention" or a casual looking person and tell them "you're sporty and relaxed".

Another is to make your characteristics sound like personal characteristics, but it's cleverly picked so it applies to most everyone, or literally everyone. An example: "because you're this sign you can't stand when people lie to you". I mean, who exactly is tolerant about people lying to them? Or, "you like doing things at your own pace". Does anyone being rushed, or being bogged down?

And finally, when they are wrong, they will say, like they said to me whenever they tried to convince me about sun signs and I told them they were wrong, they would say, "oh, most of people in your sign is such and such way, but there's like 10% of every sign that acts just the opposite". How convenient, they always get to be correct. If 10% of every sign acts completely different, what's the point? Then every sign can be everything.

Once the stars pointed out the birth of Jesus their purpose was fulfilled.

They can't predict a life that is free.
They can only predict life accurately before Christ. Life bound by sin is predictable.

Scripture doesn't tell us that the future cannot be predicted, scripture tells us not to use fortune tellers.

Why do you think what I wrote opposes those?

I wouldn't think Scripture would tell us that the future cannot be predicted. I know that fortune teller use is forbidden.

It is as if people think that the only posts possible are to quarrel with others. I added to your post, not to oppose and quarrel but to add. Now, I am disagreeing with a post of yours. I disagree with the idea that posts are only to oppose.

Is there any way to substantiate this claim of yours? I doubt it. I believe your claim to be false.

I've heard that before also...no I have not confirmed it. It makes sense on some level due to more light. As well as what might be a psychological "push" in doing something on the full moon. Something akin to people doing things "because it's christmas".

Some people it is neither here nor there and others it is an event. Just depends on the person I suppose.

I also heard from my sister that more babies are born on a full moon than at any other time. Again, not confirmed but I'm sure a simple search would cause enough "either or" to not consider it completely false.

I want to share a bit on it but since this isn't a full moon thread I shan't. Definitely pretty and draws me outside unlike any other night. Only night I can read without a light lol. Since it was last night I want to go on and on but I digress.

With regard to the OP. I have an adjective that I use for anything that seems "horoscopey" like personality tests, career tests, enneagram, etc. So perhaps that will give you an idea of how I view horoscopes themselves.

Granted, there are "some" indicators based in psychology with some of these, they all seem to do essentially the same thing which is what @SoulWeaver illustrated quite well.

I do believe the enemy is quite proficient at "spiritual psychology" but only to a person's detriment so there's legitimately no point to any of this for a believer. Can't stress it enough.

We have Saul's example with contacting Samuel. The Lord has been very clear that it's forbidden. He has impressed this strongly on me. There is no righteous way to use the enemy's tools. Most of it is straight "horoscope" though regardless.

The Lord has his own insight to give...
