Did the Church institute Dec 25th to replace Pagan Festivals with a Christian Theme?

It would be funny if, those who bring up this garbage each time about two to three weeks before Christmas each year.

Yet many of these same types of self-professing Christians who will support gay marriage and abortion and transgender.

They bring up this false narrative of Egyptian gods yet No Christian church has taught to worship a false god born on the 25th of December. In my 50 years, I have never heard one Pastor teach we are worshiping this false god by default. The reason why is because in the CHURCH historically this date of December 25th has been solely about the advent season. In other words, we focus on Jesus!

These hypocrites have sought to change the historical narrative by introducing a demonic god and associate it with the Birth of Christ that historically the Chruch NEVER even brought up, why? Because the Church doesn't worship this false god of Egypt or any other pagan god by default.

Most who promote this are atheists. Many of them have family issues and they themselves never taught this in their own homes and learned that Christmas was about the birth of Jesus as the church teaches.

Those who are divorced, have family issues, or just plain angry with their life seek on Youtube these wannabe theologians to interject a false god into the church narrative of Jesus's birth.

NONE of which I might add use the Bible to bring that point out they had to seek outside of the word of God to discredit the word of God which tell us Jesus was born in a stable and the worship was given to HIm recorded in the Gospels.

They are deceptive. Do they look for good no, do they look for what is praiseworthy? no, do they stay in the word of God? no.

You continue to celebrate Christmas and correct any foolish person who wrongfully suggests we the Church worship a false god or pagan god.

Those hypocrites will eat Christmas dinner, buy gifts or will receive gifts, or service in the name of Christmas yet say such stupid things.

I was listening to this seminary professor talk about this very subject. It was quite interesting to hear what he had to say. So this was the jist of it all. Basically from early church writings (letters and such) the earliest was written about 380 ad. They began celebrating Christmas for basically 2 reasons; one they were trying to relate to the fathers of the faith who were waiting for the birth of the Messiah, in as much as we are also waiting on the return of Jesus. They saw the birth of Jesus as the proof of his promise to return, And 2 all the pagans were celebrating the winter solstice, so it gave Christians an alternative, rather than watch the pagans celebrate they were busy with their own celebrating.

This is how I and many understand your complaint:

They wanted to replace the Saturnalia feast for a Christian theme day?
And so they did, and they were successful.
They stamped out Saturnalia and all its evil pagan practices and replaced it with a day about Jesus birth. Yeah. Great job.
Now we don't have wide spread Saturnalia feasts because they stamped it out with Christmas.
That Sounds like a great plan. It worked right?

Observing Christmas as a family get together and buying toys for you kids does not mean you are having anything to do with ancient pagan holidays because they got stamped out by Christmas is what you are actually saying.

And then you act like that is a bad thing. Which is just a weird kind of complaint. We don't get why you're not liking that? Did you want to keep Saturnalia is that what you are saying?

I can't believe it but I'm in agreement with the scribe on this one. If there was once a pagan holiday at Christmas time, and now that pagan holiday is no longer observed, but instead we have a day where we celebrate Jesus, then how exactly is that a bad thing?

God has always used the pagans for His good. God used the pagan Egypt so the Jews could multiply, God taught us about being free from the slavery of sin as we learn of their freedom from slavery. Even Hitler was used to urge the Jews to return to Jerusalem showing us that bible prophecy is correct.

I still pray that people of the world will return to celebrating the Lord through obedience, rather than using man's guidance. God's ways are always the best ways for our good.

You are free to post whatever you like within the rules of good taste and commonsense. I have seen many and heard many teaching on this subject. Many are good many are not :)

If we refrain from excessive behaviour & idol worship it's not bad.
We know The Lord wasn't actually born on that day. But he did create the universe & come to us as a man so let's praise him.

Personally, I can take it or leave it but I like the time off work & the Christmas songs touch my heart-
"Joy to the world The Lord has come!"

any of you who wanna celebrate christmas, thats your choice, i won't argue with any of you about that.
however i have done my own research and have decided not to celebrate christmas.
looks like i'll have to agree to disagree with those of you who want to celebrate it.
but i won't force my beliefs about this on any of you.

The Lord tells us that accepting Christ is a matter of life and death, but it is not life or death to follow such as the best way to celebrate God.

Following the Lord's direction in this is a matter of following man or God, and following man is never the best idea. If we followed God's ways, you can be sure it would give the most pleasure. But there is nothing wrong with making the best of wrong decisions made centuries ago.

well one way or another, even the original santa (short for saint nicholas) was a christian who gave to poor orphaned children i.e displayed charity. And he did his alms in secret.

nobody I know now celebrates mithra or saturnalia, so I guess it was effective!

No argument...however, I personally don’t like the idea of Christmas, after I did my own research...

That is the issue if the historical information is a bias against what has been historically in the context of the Christian church solely about the birth of Jesus, and you interject another context that has nothing to do with the reason why the " Church " honors the birth of OUR Lord that IS biblically seen in scripture as a normative is completely ridiculous.


What possible research removed the Gospel accounts of the Birth of our Lord? This is an attack on the foundational truth of Jesus who was not born by the will of man, but God.


Nothing in the word of God Old or New supports any pagan belief that had to be woven into the Biblical account. People that's called deceit. it is not the historical narrative that had to be sought out.

is the word " Trinity" anywhere in the bible? Christ-mass is a term that is theological which speaks on the Birth of Jesus and the doctrine of what is known as the Incarnation. Jesus would have to say to himself Merry Christmas it is the church who worship HIM

I never celebrate it. But my reasons are different. I don't want to do any of the things that people do. I don't like decorating, it is just a lot of unnecessary work.
I don't want to clean it all up afterwards either.
I don't want to spend money on gifts.
I don't want to eat traditional Christmas foods, I don't like any of it.
I don't like Christmas music.
I just don't get involved in any of it.
I have no problem with other people doing it, and I don't think they are doing anything evil.
I don't want to go to peoples houses and eat just so they will think I am not rude. There are so many expectations that people try to put on you this time of year. Unnecessary tasks and burdens.
I am always glad when it is over.
