Doesn’t Gods word define what the law “ Of love “actually means though ? and so which word do we follow Old Testament or new ?

Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment:

But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment:

Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:

But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

It hath been said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement:

But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.

Again, ye have heard that it hath been said by them of old time, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths:

But I say unto you, Swear not at all;
neither by heaven; for it is God's throne...

Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:

But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.

Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.

But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven:

for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.”

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5:21-22, 27-28, 31-34, 38-39, 43-45‬ ‭KJV‬‬

There is a law of the flesh pertaining to sin and death and a law of the spirit that will lead a person into righteousness if we believe and follow what faith forms in our minds .

we follow the understanding Jesus gives us in his words because we’ve all failed already to keep the law of
Moses

“For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.”
‭‭James‬ ‭2:10‬ ‭KJV‬‬

And it’s conclusion of the law is

“Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die.”
‭‭Ezekiel‬ ‭18:4‬ ‭KJV‬‬

The gospel is salvation in that if we accept and believe what Christ taught it has the power to change the issues that motivate us to commit sins. If we deal with lustful Intentions and fantasy and thought we will never even have a temptation to commit adultery .

if we don’t allow hate in our heart like Jesus said , we won’t have any motivation to commit violence . Moses law says” don’t do it lest you surely be put to death “

the gospel says I know you’ve all done it at some point but hear me and Believe . Then he teaches believers an understanding about God the true understanding

“And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.”
‭‭1 John‬ ‭5:20‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Only Jesus the gospel Can give us that understanding of God

“And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.”
‭‭John‬ ‭17:3‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭11:27‬ ‭KJV‬‬
“For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak. And I know that his commandment is life everlasting:

whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.”
‭‭John‬ ‭12:49-

All I’m saying brother is christs word is the one we’re supposed to make our faith and belief we should see everything the way Christ taught us to see it all , we follow the spirit To crucify the flesh

God's law is love. If it was not for his perfect love of offering his Son, Christ Yeshua, we would all fall short in sin. God's law remains, it is love. We sin when we fall short, that is why we need his grace. To nullify his law is to say we sin no more. We sin everyday, and need his grace everyday under his new covenant, as we are repenting of our sins, and receive forgiveness when we break his law of love.

Ok, first and for most thank you for giving a short answer to my question!
If God made the 7th day Sabbath as a shadow of Christ’s rest, why then do you think they would need that in the Garden of Eden “before sin”?Did Adam and Eve hove their own works of righteousness? If that doesn’t make sense I will try to ask another way.
I believe they actually were in a state of resting. In and with God. I mean before they sinned. The state of resting is opposite to striving, laboring and trouble. Genesis doesn't give a lot of specifics, but it suggests that they were in a harmonious union with God and that there was no labor or toil. Everything was good, initially. Toil and struggle would be characterized as bad. They received abundant sustenance without having to struggle for it. Adam and Eve abandoned rest and peace when they started striving in desire to boost themselves up and become like God. This was man's own works. What happens to them first upon sinning? Laboring starts. Man's physical struggle for survival and the woman's childbirth labors was fruit (reflection in the physical world) of the striving which they introduced in spirit. God just recompensed them.

Genesis 2 (ESV)

15 The Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to work it and keep it.
Yet man only starts laboring and struggling after sinning.
The key words I am pointing at is, "his own works".
"one who has entered into His rest has ceased from his own works, as God did from his"
God accomplishes all things by being still, and gets where He needs to be without moving. This is also true for those who are His...
It might prove hard to get on the same page with this because a lot of people hold belief this whole story was about a literal garden and a literal talking snake.

Agreed. Working for God, in a life prepared by him, in his law of love, is a pleasure.

2 Thessalonians 3 (NLT)

9 We certainly had the right to ask you to feed us, but we wanted to give you an example to follow. 10 Even while we were with you, we gave you this command: “Those unwilling to work will not get to eat.” 11 Yet we hear that some of you are living idle lives, refusing to work and meddling in other people’s business. 12 We command such people and urge them in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ to settle down and work to earn their own living. 13 As for the rest of you, dear brothers and sisters, never get tired of doing good.

Deuteronomy 5 (NLT)

12 “Observe the Sabbath day by keeping it holy, as the LORD your God has commanded you. 13 You have six days each week for your ordinary work, 14 but the seventh day is a Sabbath day of rest dedicated to the LORD your God. On that day no one in your household may do any work. This includes you, your sons and daughters, your male and female servants, your oxen and donkeys and other livestock, and any foreigners living among you. All your male and female servants must rest as you do. 15 Remember that you were once slaves in Egypt, but the LORD your God brought you out with his strong hand and powerful arm. That is why the LORD your God has commanded you to rest on the Sabbath day.

Ok, Thank you. I think I understand.

The way I see it,

God made all things in 6 days and rested from creating on the 7th day. So everything that was made the earth the animals trees and so forth, he then stops to rest. When God put Adam and Eve on the earth on the 6th day he created them to keep the Garden to name the animals and so. But when the 7th day came they rested.

Meaning Adam and Eve did not focus on the Garden and keeping it but were able to focus on God and what he made (with Him). I Think we could agree on that part but correct me if that is not so, don't want to put words in your mouth.

I see this as the work they were doing every week then rest on the sabbath each week. (Note I know we don't have that much history of them but just surmising from what we are told about them in Gen.

Now don't get me wrong I do believe Jesus can give us rest (from our own failing works of Right doing) from the word used in Heb. The only thing is, I believe we are talking about two different kinds of rest
  1. The Rest you are referring to in the book of Heb
  2. The rest from everyday life in the Garden in Gen

  1. The Rest I believe spoke of in the book of Heb is the rest from trying to earn Heaven with out grace. ( Temple Law and ceremonial law.)
  2. The rest in Geniuses (7th day rest) Not that they were tired and need to rest from working in the Garden (before sin), but rest from where their Focus was. They were able to stop working in the Garden and spend time with God. After all they had a Job to do on the other days. And use this whole day, even though he would meet with them in the cool of the day, they were about to use the whole day to worship him with out distraction of every day life.
I think this were much misunderstanding comes from when we trying to hash out the Sabbath rest, in comparison with each others view. At lest this is were I think we are misunderstanding each other as a church. Notice I make no differences in who we are as a whole church even between the different denominations and or believes systems= doctrines.

God say 6 days shout thy labor and do all thy works= meaning where your focus is on earthly things, and the 7th day keep it holy= meaning bring your focus fully on God that day without distractions from the world and keeping it Holly by Remembering what God did to bring us in to the world and knowing he is the only one God in three persons that can Create and being thankful for what he Created. I could go on but don't want to get to far and misunderstand each other again.

But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God's throne...

Please stop taking up the whole page. I know you might have a lot to say but its a very big distraction when I am not looking for your post but others. plus just looks like a bunch of jumbled bible verses just choice a different format maybe. We all have lots to say but need to give space for others too so we all can hear what is going on. And reading this on a phone is even worse. with all due respect please.

Where did you get this? You speak heresy.

6Since therefore it remains for some to enter it, and those who formerly received the good news failed to enter because of disobedience, 7again he appoints a certain day, “Today,” saying through David so long afterward, in the words already quoted,
“Today, if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts.” Heb 4

8For if Joshua had given them rest, God would not have spoken of another day later on. 9So then, there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God, 10for whoever has entered God’s rest has also rested from his works as God did from His. Heb 4

11Let us therefore strive to enter that rest, so that no one may fall by the same sort of disobedience. Heb 4

The false teaching you posted is in conflict with the Word of God. Repent.
You just supported his explanation with these verses. Don't you see that?

Jesus was in the temple. The temple is made of stone. Jesus was writing (with the finger of God) on stone. No sand.
((Just like the 10 Commandments were written in stone by the finger of God.))
What do you mean? Like etched the stone with his finger?
ESV... Jesus bent down and wrote with his finger on the ground.

So don't you think if he etched an engraving in the stone that people would have made a point of mentioning what it was he wrote after all the effort to write four Gospel accounts before the temple was destroyed? What he wrote would have been recorded as being meaningful.

It is doubtful that the area they gathered to hear him was squeaky clean with thousands of dusty foot traffic. Maybe inside the inner chambers but not the public area in the court of the gentiles.

brother that’s a nice thing you wrote there but you keep saying I’m removing gods law . That’s not what I’m saying or have said I’m telling you we have to follow Jesus word in the New Testament , not Moses law in the Old Testament .

you haven’t one time addressed any scripture saying all this stuff that I’ve shared with you you just continually explain things around those scriptures as if you aren’t reading them .

we have a law , it’s what Jesus said not what Moses said it’s contrary

We aren’t going to answer to
Moses and a stone tablet we are going to answer to Jesus according to his living word .

“For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.”
‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭5:10‬ ‭

It’s been several times I’ve asked you now can you acknowledge that what Moses taught is contrary to what Jesus taught ?

I’ve shown you that in scripture very clearly if you can acknowledge that , or if you show me scripture that changes what Jesus said then we might get somewhere toward reconciling our thoughts but of you just keep saying I shouldn’t remove Gods law , and I’m only fighting God and things I’m not sure why we should waste time discussing

can you acknowledge that Jesus taught different things from Moses ?

You: "It’s been several times I’ve asked you now can you acknowledge that what Moses taught is contrary to what Jesus taught ? "

As merciful as God is, so righteous He is as well, and do not change his law. The law of Moses and the law of Christ Yeshua are not contrary, they both brought the message of God's law of love. Under the old covenant of God's righteousness, Moses brought God's message of: love God, and your neighbour as yourself. Under the new covenant of God's merciful righteousness, Christ Yeshua brought God's message of: love God, and your neighbour as yourself. God's word is not contradictory. There's a new covenant of forgiveness of sins, based on God's same unchangeable law. Under God's new covenant, of merciful righteousness, there is forgiveness for our repentance of our transgressions of God's same old law of love.

Moses:

Leviticus 19 (ESV)

18 ... you shall love your neighbor as yourself: ...

Deuteronomy 6 (ESV)

5 You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.

Christ Yeshua:

Luke 10 (ESV)

25 And behold, a lawyer stood up to put him to the test, saying, "Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?" 26 He said to him, "What is written in the Law? How do you read it?" 27 And he answered, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself." 28 And he said to him, "You have answered correctly; do this, and you will live."

Matthew 23 (ESV)

2 "The scribes and the Pharisees sit on Moses' seat, 3 so do and observe whatever they tell you...

New covenant, same law under Christ Yeshua:

Hebrews 8 (ESV)

8 For he finds fault with them when he says: "Behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will establish a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah, 9 not like the covenant that I made with their fathers on the day when I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt. For they did not continue in my covenant, and so I showed no concern for them, declares the Lord. 10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the Lord: I will put my laws into their minds, and write them on their hearts, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. 11 And they shall not teach, each one his neighbor and each one his brother, saying, 'Know the Lord,' for they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest. 12 For I will be merciful toward their iniquities, and I will remember their sins no more." 13 In speaking of a new covenant, he makes the first one obsolete. And what is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to vanish away.

And what is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to vanish away.
ahhh so why did moses teach of you are unhappy divorce your wife and you are free to re marry , but Jesus said you mah only divorce for reason of fornication if you do you are committing adultery ?

are you telling me those two things aren’t contrary ? Moses says get divorced if your not happy with your wife and then you can remarry

here it is written in the law of Moses

“When a man hath taken a wife, and married her, and it come to pass that she find no favour in his eyes, because he hath found some uncleanness in her: then let him write her a bill of divorcement, and give it in her hand, and send her out of his house.

And when she is departed out of his house, she may go and be another man's wife.”
‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭24:1-2‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Moses taught that

Jesus says this Of moses Law

“It hath been said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement:

But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5:31-32‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Are those two things different ? Or no ?

if you are wondering why they are different Jesus explained when the Pharisees couldn’t accept it because they were blinded by Moses law.

“They say unto him, Why did Moses then command to give a writing of divorcement, and to put her away?

He saith unto them, Moses because of the hardness of your hearts suffered you to put away your wives:

but from the beginning it was not so. And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭19:7-

we’re meant to believe Jesus even when we see that his word is totally different than Moses or what we think there’s no conflict Jesus is the one to hear and believe

we don’t follow moses word in the law Like this

Eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, Burning for burning, wound for wound, stripe for stripe.”
‭‭Exodus‬ ‭21:24-25‬ ‭KJV‬‬

we follow Jesus word in the new covenant that is contrary to that

“Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:

But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5:38-39‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Jesus doctrine is an understanding of the true God and his will for his children , Moses is to look at God from a sinful standpoint so we can’t come close to see him as he is ,

Christ calls us to come close to him and learn of his goodness and justice his mercy and his truth that will save a believer to believe and follow after what Jesus said about God and his will that’s my humble belief but as I’ve said a lot in my posts I’m not anyone’s authority in any way I just have what I believe the scripture teaches and believing is salvation in my view

Christ Yeshua brought fullness to the meaning of love, of God's law of love. He walked perfectly in God's law of love, and he preached it perfectly. God's law is love, love for God, and neighbour as self.

This was grace in the OT that you speak of

The Holy Bible: King James Version. (2009). (Electronic Edition of the 1900 Authorized Version., Dt 24:1). Bellingham, WA: Logos Research Systems, Inc.

Also Paul speaks about this too:
But if the unbelieving depart, let him depart. A brother or a sister is not under bondage in such cases: but God hath called us to peace.

Peace and Grace are more important Moses Teaches the same as what we know today. Paul Teaches from the OT so your point is moot.
