Let the wicked forsake their ways and the unrighteous their thoughts.
Let them turn to the lord and He will have mercy on them, and to our
God, He will freely pardon.

For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways
declares the Lord as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my
ways higher than your ways and my place higher than your place.

God is putting man in his place. God is Saying i tell you what todo,
you dont rell me what to do. So often people would like to say
something more harsh but God says just a minute, i take charge.
often i have heard this person is going to hell. But that is mans idea
of punishment because there is bo scripture saying God puys anyone
to hell. It is the opposite as is said above, He gives mercy

Hi and welcome to the Forum.

You are right. Isaiah 55 does not address "hell". In fact, the word "hell" is a man-made concept and never appears in the Bible. Translators use "hell" generically for three different Greek words. They are "Gehenna", "Hades" and "Tartaroo". Isaiah 55 is a call to Israel to repent. They did not, and God was forced to apply the curses of the Covenant of Law (Leviticus 26 and Deuteronomy 28). But the prophet reveals a gracious and merciful God. Strictly, according to the Law, which makes up the terms of the Covenant, Israel had no chance of recovery. Their sins were that grievous.

But God has chosen them and made another Covenant with them - that made with Abraham. This is based, not on Law, but on circumcision. So if the Israelites were circumcised, God seems to have a dilemma. The one Covenant PROMISES Israel the Land, and the other requires to be kicked out of the Land for breaking the Law. How will God keep both? And even more, how will God uphold His Name if Israel don't get their Land? So, God, in Isaiah, and most of the other prophets, warns Israel, threatens Israel and then, because Israel would fail, God predicts their recovery.

Surely God's thoughts are not ours. We would not restore Israel. Besides breaking all the Law, they are the only nation that changed their God. Not even the heathen idol worshipers did that. But Romans 11:29 says; "For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance." God has devised a plan for Israel's recovery. And according to Isaiah 55:3-5 the solution lies, not in David himself, but in "the sure mercies of David" - Jesus of Bethlehem-Judah, and of the House of David!

According to Acts 15:14-16, when our Lord has reached the full number of the Church, He will RETURN and build up David House again. David was a king over united and combined Israel. Jesus' death was no only for us who believe, but for the "sin" and "sins" of the world (Jn.1.29; 1st Jn.2:2). The work of Jesus allows God to JUDICIALLY have mercy on who He wants. Israel will receive mercy and be restored.

That verse does get used allot in so many different areas of mans life. What was happening then as to Israel? Its written "
But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man The things which God has prepared for those who love Him. But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.

So as believers in Christ that He is one with the Father the Father one with Christ and we are one with Christ. We are one. And have the sweet holy Spirit... so His ways better be ours. I have the mind of Christ.. He died.. I died.. He rose.. I rose. We are one. For the Spirit searches ALL THINGS..yes the deep things of God. For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God.

Do I really need to go on? We are not of this world.. and all of Israel did not have the Holy Spirit. So they were crying out about what was happening to them.

As I see and understand it :)

I found 54 Scriptures from King James that speak about "hell." Here are a few:

Matthew 5:22, 29 and 30
Matthew 10:28
Matthew 11:23
Matthew 16:18
Matthew 18:9
Matthew 23:15 and 33
Mark 9:43, 45 and 47
Luke 10:15
Luke 12:5
Luke 16:23
Acts 2:27 and 31
James 3:6
2 Peter 2:4
Revelation 1:18
Revelation 6:8
Revelation 20:13,14

Reading these, I firmly believe that "hell" is a real place and that what Jesus taught about "hell" is Truth. I also am convinced "hell" is NOT a place I want to seek to visit, or become a citizen of,
