Well why not……‘tis the season.
Personally my own children enjoyed going out in the neighborhood to ‘trick or treat’ bringing home their plastic pumpkins with candy treasures to be shared with Mom. (Mom, shivering on the sidewalk waiting while they went door to door, should be entitled to a share in the loot)
We didn’t give one thought to Halloween being pagan, it was just a day for costumes and candy corn. My own children did not dress in ugly costumes as devils, skeletons or vampires. My kids dressed up in costumes depicting cowboys, princesses, Disney characters, et all.
Whatever choice one makes, it is to God alone that we are accountable.
We might consider that during a heated debate.
Who are you to pass judgment on the servant of another? It is before his own master that he stands or falls. And he will be upheld, for the Lord is able to make him stand. ... Romans 14:4
"Well why not……‘tis the season."
Not, simply because Halloween involves godless and/or satanic ideas.

Children's worldly joys aren't a measure of what's right or wrong. It is our duty to raise them in God's good, away from Satan's evil.

That's exactly how Satan gets you. By not giving enough thought to whether something you do transparently serves God or Satan, you fall into Satan's ploys. I know kids who grew up into adults who appreciated Halloween as a fornication party ritual. People who avoided Halloween altogether when they were younger prevented that idea altogether.

Every action we take impacts others spiritually whether we see it or not. That is why we are called to operate by faith, not reason alone. It is wrong to do anything that impacts others negatively spiritually and that is not grounded in God. We must live our lives 100% in God's word as there is no good in following or falling for Satan at all, and we hurt others with it, sometimes without them being able to voice a complaint about it.

When someone reminds me of what is right and wrong, they are not "passing judgement". They are simply reminding me of God's judgement (not man judgement), and since we are all fallible beings, instead of being proud and thinking we could play God for ourselves, we could humble ourselves and appreciate our fallibility and the need for correction from others as a result (also known as rebuke in the Bible). I tell people "Thank you" if they correct me for God's sake regardless of whether following their correction benefits them or not. To tell someone "who are you to pass judgement" is very childish and petty. Only Jesus Christ had the right to say that because he was God's prophet and the Son of God. As such, he had better judgement than anyone else of his time. We don't. We are meek fallible human beings.
Keep in mind that it is only inconvenient to avoid habitual wrongs the first few times we avoid them. Eventually, after you have avoided Halloween for a few seasons, it becomes easy and starts seeming like such a childish petty thing to have ever wanted to celebrate Halloween. That's certainly how it is for me now that I've abandoned it for more than 5 years and gotten saved and born again as a Christian. After all, nothing is more enjoyable than The Kingdom of God even for children. And, one may always buy them all the candies they want on any day of the year if candy is the sticky issue (pun intended).
Godspeed.
