Our protection from the devil is to know scripture, and watch carefully that we do not add to it or take any away.
Agreed. But when you ADD the Old Covenant requirements (Sabbaths, feasts, festivals, holy days, ceremonial observances, etc) to the New Covenant, you are doing exactly the same thing.

You have a very confused idea about the armor of God. Did knights wear armor to protect themselves from themselves? Do you see how absurd your ideas are?

Ephesians 6 even tells us exactly who the enemies are and what is the purpose of the armor of God. So there is no excuse for misunderstanding this.
'absurd.......confused......no excuse for your MISunderstanding'

I would never toss judgmental words like that [or others] to you.
You don't agree? ok by me.

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world

Satan doesn't need permission it's his nature. God restricts how far he can take it.

Satan has his demons , and they enter people...
We wear our armor to protect ourselves from such things , from the fiery darts that are thrown as us...

Satan maybe in one place at one time , but his army of demons are every where...

Let us praise God for His protection , that we are no longer a child of the evil one , but a child of GOD most High...
Thank You Jesus for saving us from that hand of the evil one Amen...

Job is LITERAL? So God has an actual hedge around Job, I wonder if it is a tall one, probably very green and leafy. o_O
Or do you mean some is literal and some is not?

Satan roams the earth.......place to place........so that means you believe Satan has an attribute that only God has (omnipresence)?
So God was having this get-together and Satan shows up to mock God......the Creator of that old dragon.

There is a lot of wisdom in Job but it is still allegory. Like Pilgrim's Progress has great truths in an allegory tale.

By what standard do you judge a book to be literal or allegory?
And what do you use to know the differences in Revelation between literal, symbolic or allegory?
Maybe you haven't thought about the differences.
I just want to know what your thinking is.

Looks like too many people are getting their "Satan" doctrine form Dante's 'Inferno' or Milton's 'Paradise Lost'

To me it is adding to scripture to say that God cancelled all holy days. It was added as a doctrine at the Nicene Council. These days were given to us by the Lord, the Lord tells us so in scripture. There is no scripture saying they are cancelled, that is added to scripture, saying they are only Jewish customs we are not obliged to follow. To say holy days are all cancelled is adding to scripture something that is not there.

You are adding to scripture when you say that when the Lord gave the old covenants the holy days were including in those covenants.

I think it is certain that all scripture is God inspired and truth. I also feel certain that God does not change, God is the same from Genesis to Revelation. No scripture disagrees with any other scripture. That means that the old covenant is scripture from the Lord, and the new covenant is an improvement on that making some things in the old covenant obsolete and of no use to us any more. God didn't change His mind about anything, God is always the same. It is up to us to find the things in the old covenant that are of no use to us any more, like the hard and fast rules being made obsolete by the new way of communicating with us about the laws of the Lord. Now, we know the law of love tops any rule. That is not cancelling anything, but making understanding law better.

When we go to live with the Lord we will know with certainty.

Maybe it would help to identify what parts of the law Jesus fulfilled? Especially with his sacrifice as the last unblemished lamb on the sin altar/cross.

Dual covenant theologies teach the old testament and God's law applies to Jews only. Some Christians, as we know, don't believe any part of God's law applies today. Which leads us to the ten commands that are God's law. And that God told us, in the new testament, he has written his laws on our hearts so that we would not be separated from them.
If they no longer apply God erred in that writing.

Jeremiah 31:33 "This is the covenant I will make with the people of Israel after that time," declares the LORD. "I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people.

Hebrews 8:10 This is the covenant I will establish with the people of Israel after that time, declares the LORD. I will put my laws in their minds and write them on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people.

The first converts to what today is still called, Christianity, were Jews.

Galatians 3:26 So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, 27 for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. 28 There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. 29 If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.

except for the ones He broke
Jesus is God; God is unable to sin.
For our sake He made Him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God. 2Cor 5:21
The Rock, His work is perfect, for all His ways are justice. A God of faithfulness and without iniquity, just and upright is He. Deut 32:7
This is the message we have heard from Him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in Him is no darkness at all. 1John 1:5

The 'devil' abides in fear and trembling at the decrees of God. Satan knows he is a created being under the authority of the Creator,
....remember.....he had to ask permisson from God before he could try Job......because he has no claim in the lives of believers.....Beezlebub may tramp up and down the earth, but he can only mess with reprobates.
he can only mess with reprobates?
Where do you get that?

Jesus did what the religious leaders at the time thought was breaking the Sabbath. Jesus is indeed God and cannot sin but He did break the rules as they were understood by the religious community at that point of time.

you went ballistic on my thread and I asked you to stop

I never said Jesus sinned

that is your interpretation of what I said. I don't need your corrections. I believe what scripture states

I would advise you to stop condemning others with only half a thought to what you do

I guess you will HATE this...

1 The Holy Spirit and Satan do not "occupy" any person at the same time. We cannot have the devil in our heads when the Spirit is there.

2 We all have a sin nature that endures past the point of being born again. I am not saying we act on it but the temptations of the past are still there. Changed minds produce changed desires.....so some sins are easily overcome but others are not, they are the ones we struggle over with the help of the Spirit.

3 We don't need Satan to tempt us when we have the Holy Spirit to convict us that the temptation is forbidden.

4 Jesus Christ defeated Satan at the cross. He has no claim on a child of God.

5 As born again believers we are justified and have the righteousness of Christ imputed to us...how could Satan influence us? I say he cannot. Our Comforter assures us.

1. God permits satan to tempt and mess with believers. Go to Revelation when satan throws the believers into prison for 10 days but Jesus said to endure to the end. What you've written is not truth, it's conjecture.
2. Those of us who are born again are given a new nature. We become "born of God." We go to the grave with Jesus and rise as new creations. We are still able to sin or God would not have given us 1John 1:9. What you've written here is also not right.
3. ??? Temptations to sin will come but woe to him... What you've written here is also wrong.
4. ??? The flesh is weak; see 1 John 1:9 as well. What you've written here is also wrong.

Someone else has already posted Scripture references to disprove your theories so I won't duplicate the effort.

I suggest you misunderstand 1 John 1:9 Verses 1 through 3 tell us those points being revealed are the objects of the teaching not the subject. (see footnote a ). Which means, this is a teaching to those who are not yet in Christ and are therein sinners who sin and as such are condemned. 5.Now[l] this is the gospel[m] message[n] we have heard from him[o] and announce to you: God is light, and in him there is no darkness at all.[p] 6 If we say we have fellowship with him and yet keep on walking[q] in the darkness, we are lying and not practicing[r] the truth.

God bless you.

No, above you said "except the ones He broke" to break a law = sin. You said Jesus sinned by saying "except the ones He broke."
Breaking the law is sin; you said He sinned by saying "except the ones He broke."

I answer to God; God is my judge and Him to whom I answer. Acts 5:29: We must obey God not men.

I haven't condemned anyone. I gave truth where truth was missing. I have exposed heresy where heresy was posted. You'd be wise to do the same. Always endure sound doctrine.

To God alone be glory.

My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. 1 John 2:1

7But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin. 8If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

No one born of God makes a practice of sinning, for God’s seed abides in him; and he cannot keep on sinning, because he has been born of God. 1 John 3:9
We know that everyone who has been born of God does not keep on sinning, but he who was born of God protects him, and the evil one does not touch him. 1 John 5:18

There is a difference between sinning once / falling into sin opposed to persisting in sin as noted above. We are fully able to sin after being born again which is why 1 John 1:9 was written.

Probably to protect ourselves from ourselves, the sin nature of man, the gullibility of people sitting under wolves (false teachers) et all
The armor is not just for protection......the sword is a weapon of aggression. (in the best sense) fight the good fight
The sword of the Spirit is the Word of God; Holy Scripture; that which defeats satan as evidenced by Jesus' trials in the wilderness when He was led out by the Spirit to be tempted. The Word of God defeats the devil.

The full armor of God is for His saints. Here, now, on earth.

Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. James 4:7

satan prowls around like a roaring lion seeking whom he can devour.

It's rhetorical, but how can satan flee from you if he's not there? And how can he prowl around like a roaring lion to see whom he can devour if he's not there? And how can he be roaming the earth to and fro if he's not there?

Just admit you made a mistake and we can move on.
