The criminal records associated with the great white throne event depicted
at Rev 20:11-15 likely won't be used only to condemn people's actions, but
also to prove that the people themselves are not the kind of folk with whom
God prefers to associate.

For example; God isn't comfortable with dishonesty. So if the records show
that someone was deceptive and/or told a number lies during their lifetime,
then they will be barred from heaven; not only for their dishonesty, but also
because they are capable of dishonesty.

Matt 15:19 . . For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murders, adulteries,
fornications, thefts, false witness, slanders.

Eddie Van Halen passed away recently. He was a Roman Catholic. It's not
easy to get into heaven via that version of Christianity.

Well; if perchance Eddie didn't make the cut (not saying he didn't; only
saying "if perchance") then he will never again be allowed to even so much
as see a guitar let alone pick one up with his hands.

Can you imagine a talented, pioneering musician like Eddie never again
allowed to do the one thing in life that he enjoyed the most? I mean never
again like as in permanently.

If we weren't depressed before we read this thread, we sure a "HELL" should be now!

I personally believe that the "eternal" hell truly defines "eternally dead," the loss of eternal life, not an everlasting torment. an everlasting torment in my opinion doesn't define a good and loving God, but rather an evil and revengeful God. If the latter is true, what guarantees that his everlasting life will be worth having?

Everlasting life is the nature of a divine being, in contrast to human life
which is the nature of a created being.

Just as human life comes with human nature, so divine life comes with
divine nature, i.e. people with eternal life are destined to eventually have a
personality similar to God's personality.

So then, people with a personality similar to God's will be just as bad, just
as unloving, just as evil, and just as revengeful as God; viz: people with
everlasting life will find it very easy to accept God's practice of slamming the
lost with everlasting torment.

People slated for the lake of brimstone depicted in Rev 20:11-15 won't have
everlasting life; rather, they'll have human life.

Note the grammar in the passages below. The verbs has and have are
present tense rather than future, indicating that believers have eternal life
right now-- no delay, and no waiting period --yet they will die some day: in
point of fact, they've been dying all along.

John 3:36 . . He who believes in the Son has eternal life

John 6:47 . .Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes has eternal life.

John 5:24 . . I assure you, those who heed my message, and trust in God
who sent me, have eternal life. They will never be condemned for their sins,
but they have already passed from Death into Life.

1John 5:13 . . I write these things to you who believe in the name of the
Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.

Everlasting life has to do with one's nature rather than one's body. In other
words: everlasting life doesn't turn people into supermen. They can still die
and they can still be killed. For example Jesus had everlasting life (John 5:26
and 1John 1:1-2) yet he was easily slain on the cross because his body
wasn't immortal.

NOTE: The right-now possession of eternal life is very crucial because
according to God's testimony, as an expert witness in all matters pertaining
to Christianity; people lacking eternal life don't have God's son. In other
words: they are currently quite christless.

1John 5:11-12 . . This is what God has testified: He has given us eternal
life, and this life is in His son. So whoever has God's son has this life; and
whosoever does not have this life, does not have His son.

God isn't going to annihilate beings created in His image.
When Adam was 130 years old, he had a son in his own likeness, after his own image; and he named him Seth.

He (Jesus) is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation.

And just as we have borne the likeness of the earthly man, so also shall we bear the likeness of the heavenly man.

For those God foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brothers.

FAQ: The New Testament says that the lost will be put to death in a lake of
brimstone. (Rev 20:11-15.) If that's so, then why is it commonly believed
that they will suffer till time without end? Don't people have to be alive in
order to experience suffering?

A: People's body and soul are slated for destruction in hell fire (Matt 10:28)
but I have yet to encounter a New Testament passage verifying that people's
consciousness will be destroyed.

FAQ: How can people be conscious when they're dead? Isn't death eo ipso a
state of unconsciousness?

A: I've been under anesthesia a number of times for surgery; and every
time I was totally unaware of anything going on around me and/or done to
my body with knives, needles, saws, probes, and tubes. But I have never
been dead so I cannot speak with authority about consciousness in that
condition. All I know about existence after death is what I read about it in
the Bible.

Matt 10:28 speaks of a human's body and soul. It says nothing of a human's
third component: spirit (1Thess 5:23). I suspect that the spirit is where a
human's consciousness resides when they pass away. If so, then the dead
floating around in the lake of brimstone, like apples in a bobbing tub, will be
aware of their condition, but of course imprisoned in a corpse; thus in a
state of total paralysis head to toe.

You know, at least zombies retain some mobility, but the people slated for
that lake of brimstone won't be able to move even so much as a pinky
finger; plus their corpse eyes won't work so they'll be blind.

A very disturbing movie scene I watched several years ago showed a man
captured by cannibals. The women of the village encased the man alive
inside a thick mud cocoon and suspended him over an open fire. The poor
man slowly baked to death inside that cocoon in total darkness. You could
hear his muffled screams coming out of a hollow reed that the women had
put in his mouth to breathe with so he wouldn't pass out from asphyxiation.

A rich man, in the story located at Luke 16:19-31, passed away and was
buried. (Luke 26:22)

Though his corpse lay in repose; the man himself is depicted in the afterlife
fully conscious and capable of intelligent thought and conversation; with his
memories intact, with eyes that see, a tongue that needs water, a nervous
system sensitive to temperature, and an emotional state capable of anxiety.

That all runs counter to passages in the Old Testament that seem to imply
that people lose their sentient characteristics when they pass away. How do
we deal with this apparent discrepancy between the Old Testament and the
New?

Well, first off we need to deal with the fact that:

1» Christ is God's final word to mankind (John 3:31-34 & Heb 1:1-2)

2» He's greater than even Moses (Heb 3:3)

3» He's the incarnated voice of God (John 1:1 & John 1:14)

4» He's smarter than Solomon (John 3:31 & Matt 12:42 & Col 2:3)

5» He was involved in the creation of the cosmos with all of its forms of
life, matter, and energy (John 1:1-3, Heb 3:3-4)

6» He has actually seen the afterlife for himself; therefore knowing from
experience what he's talking about rather than something he read in a book.
(Mark 1:21-22)

From all that, I think that we are safe to conclude that Christ's teachings
trump everybody else's teachings. So then, when it appears that the Old
Testament contradicts Christ, I strongly suggest that we go with Christ and
begin figuring out how to get the Old Testament in line with him in the New.

God's free will trumps everybody else's free will, and this fact is very evident
in the confrontation that Jehovah forced between Himself and the Egyptian
monarch holding Moses' people captive.

Rom 9:17-18 . . For the scripture says to Pharaoh: For this very purpose I
raised you up, to demonstrate My power in you, and that My name might be
proclaimed throughout the whole earth. So then He has mercy on whom He
desires, and He hardens whom He desires.

That's a reference to Exodus 9:13-17 where it says:

Ex 9:13-17 . .Then Jehovah said to Moses: Rise up early in the morning
and stand before Pharaoh and say to him, "Thus says the Jehovah, the God
of the Hebrews; let My people go, that they may serve Me. For this time I
will send all My plagues on you and your servants and your people, so that
you may know that there is no one like Me in all the earth.

. . . For if by now I had put forth My hand and struck you and your people
with pestilence, you would then have been cut off from the earth. But,
indeed, for this cause I have allowed you to remain, in order to show you My
power, and in order to proclaim My name through all the earth. Still you
exalt yourself against My people by not letting them go.

Some interesting information is tucked away in Jehovah's proclamation. The
most notable is that He could've simply wiped the Egyptians off the map
with just one miracle and been done with it. But instead, Jehovah chose to
whittle them down piece by piece, a little at a time, as an exhibit of His
capabilities: and just to make sure His intentions succeeded; Jehovah
deliberately, and willfully, strengthened Pharaoh's resolve to resist and not
give in.

Someone, somewhere, is sure to demand: How can God condemn Pharaoh's
stubborn will to resist when it was God himself who strengthened the man to
do so?

The thing is; Pharaoh was already condemned for refusing Moses' initial
request. From that point on he was dead meat-- Jehovah could say "I own
you" and it became His sovereign prerogative to do with the man as He
pleased because God's free will trumps everybody else's free will.

Now the situation is this: there are people out and about who have been
presented an intelligent gospel message, and turned from it. Those people
have put themselves at risk of God himself deliberately, and willfully,
stiffening their resolve to the point where they will never be able to accept
the gospel-- ever! Thus their destiny in Hell becomes a sealed fate.

Heb 10:31 . . It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

NOTE: See also 2Thess 2:7-12

FAQ: What if I was born dishonest?

A: You mean like this?

Ps 58:3 . . The wicked are estranged from the womb; these who speak lies
go astray from birth.

Then I suggest you take advantage of whatever time you have remaining to
begin preparing yourself for the worst when you pass on.

Rev 21:8 . . . All liars, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire and
brimstone, which is the second death.

Now we all should know why the scriptures recommend we FEAR God!

Good post Web! T do enjoy your post. You write very well totally understandable and very interesting.

I'll still submit that life on earth is God's test for all of his creation to observe to prove to all intelligent life throughout the universes his power,, his mercy, his love and the fact that his life forms cannot successfully survive and thrive without him. Life on earth is a revealing examination for life everywhere in the cosmos. It's like a tour of duty to be here. We're involved in the heavenly war of good and evil revealed by scripture. When we die our tour is over here in this life until the judgment and the defeat of evil and its demons.

hmmm... maybe i should switch sides, don't want to risk ending up in the wrong place :)
or maybe some random poster on the internet, is just having a bit of fun to see how far they can push it and get away with it so far he has, but maybe the end is in sight?

People incarcerated down in the netherworld really are unloving, evil,
vengeful beings whereas the God depicted in the Bible only seems that way
to us because the human mind's intuitive sense of right and wrong is
influenced by a conscience obtained via collusion with the Serpent rather
than a conscience obtained via cooperation with God.

Gen 3:22 . . And the Lord God said: The man has now become like one of
us, knowing good and evil.

this really isn't right because Jesus appeals to the same sense of right and wrong in his teachings
that sense of right and wrong is God given and comes from Him
once it is argued that human conscience is corrupted then anything can be justified and God's moral law written on the heart means nothing. If humans cannot perceive right and wrong (despite Adam and Eve eating of the fruit that gives that knowledge and despite God given consciences) then would we even be able to recognise God as good? i don't think Jesus was saying what you are saying and the human condition or God's nature is as worthless and destitute as you describe, you should have more faith in God's goodness

Rev 21:1-3 . . Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first
heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any
sea. I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven
from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband.

Rev 21:27 . . Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does
what is deceitful,
