And yet: You completely avoid quoting Jesus himself. You are completely happy with all the later developments of the Christian faith, but when we go straight to the horses mouth, directly to the source, the one and only time Jesus was directly asked .... what did he say?

"Matt. 19:16-22, “And behold, one came to Him and said, “Teacher, what good thing shall I do that I may obtain eternal life?” 17 And He said to him, “Why are you asking Me about what is good? There is only One who is good; but if you wish to enter into life, keep the commandments.” 18 He said to Him, “Which ones?” And Jesus said, “You shall not commit murder; You shall not commit adultery; You shall not steal; You shall not bear false witness; 19 Honor your father and mother; and You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” 20 The young man said to Him, “All these things I have kept; what am I still lacking?” 21 Jesus said to him, “If you wish to be complete, go and sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you shall have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.” Jesus didn't know anything at all about John 3:16 or Salvation through grace. That was an invention of Christians that came much later.
Jesus spoke the words in John 3:16. They are not an invention of later Christians.

Jesus tested the man in Mat 19:16-22 to demonstrate to him his need of grace to be saved. The man could not do what the law required. As you will no doubt find out one day you cannot keep the law to the degree that is required to obtain eternal life. You cannot erase a single sin which you have sinned by anything you do.

To deny the necessity of the vicarious atonement of Christ is brazen.

Jesus was and still is the very manifestation of Grace itself, come in the the flesh to do for us what we could never do for ourselves. None of the Scripture that come after contradict this, and neither do I. Jesus always was willing to forgive a repentant heart. The need for a meek and humble spirit does not cease when we become born again.

Lol

New person with an attitude. Welcome?

Yes let’s go to the horses mouth (your words)

You can start with John 3. (Eternal life based on faith)

John 4. (Rivers of living water flowing to eternal life based on asking in faith)

John 6. (Working for food which one can eat and never die live forever never hunger or thirst have eternal life based on seeing and believing)

Yeah Jesus never spoke if works he tried to get that person to admit he failed to keep the law as required. His failure to admit this was his downfall

I do not trust in works for anything. It is a meek and quiet spirit that is always willing to admit wrongdoing and repent that I am promoting. God will gladly keep us and keep picking us back up when we stumble so long as we allow Him to do so. God bless y'all.

What’s amazing about a Heavenly Father is he picks us up no matter what,

that’s what true love does. It does allow a child to fall

better yet though is his love is so powerful no one who has tasted his true love would ever want to completely fall away in unbelief, he may walk as a prodigal son, but he knows his true father and they always come back

I'm back again. Went on vacation. Came back. Now may have contracted Covid-19. Please send up a prayer. My husband and i were tested today. He is scheduled for immunotherapy for his bladder cancer, which will be postponed if we test positive. Oh Dear Heavenly Father, may this year 2020 soon be finished.

have you heard of something called Freewill? :)

Free will - Wikipedia
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Free_will
Free will is the ability to choose between different possible courses of action unimpeded.. An action in the past was freely willed if and only if the agent could have willed differently; that is, not performed the action in question and, instead, done something else.

You forget, those who are BORN AGAIN, WILL choose THE LORD'S WILL. How is that possible ? ? ? The night that I was BORN AGAIN, I willingly, out of AGAPE LOVE for HIM, gave complete control of my LIFE to HIM, and then TRUSTED HIM TOTALLY to run my LIFE.

THAT IS WHAT THESE VERSES MEAN:

Romans 10:8-10 (NASB)
8 But what does it say? "THE WORD IS NEAR YOU, IN YOUR MOUTH AND IN YOUR HEART"—that is, the word of faith which we are preaching,
9 that if you confess {it has to be in your heart (human spirit), that you have RECIEVED HIM as MASTER} with your mouth Jesus as Lord {that means you willing gave control of you life TO HIM as your genuine MASTER, or this verse does not apply to you}, and
believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;
10 for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.

Your so-called FREE WILL is ONLY something that goes on between your EARS. GENUINE FAITH, is something that does not go on between your EARS, but rather goes on in your HEART, which is the seat of your HUMAN SPIRIT. Only then can you Say it as a CONFESSION, Jesus is my Lord. HE is the Shot Caller, from then on, not you.

What goes on in the heart does not happen in a split second. It happens after god works on your mind to change it (repent)

You quote the scriptures..

But you do not have wisdom to interpret the very scriptures you quote.. You don't know what was going on between Jesus and this man.. People need to focus on the question this man posed to Jesus before they can understand the way Jesus responded..

He asked::

“Teacher, what good thing shall I do that I may obtain eternal life?”

The man thought he could attain entery into eternal life by his OWN GOOD DEEDS.. He had a Works salvation mindset.. Basic Christianity 101 is It is what JESUS did that Good thing which obtains for us eternal Life.. From that moment on Jesus replied in a way to convict the man of sin and to reveal to the man that perfection was needed for a man to enter the kingdom of God..

After Jesus finished dealing with this man who walked away defeated the apostles talked with him about it..

Matthew 19:25 "When his disciples heard it, they were exceedingly amazed, saying, Who then can be saved? {26} But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible."

Jesus declares that it is IMPOSSIBLE for a person to secure their own salvation by their own deeds.. But that with God all things are possible.. Hint Hint.. God can do the deeds needed to secure a persons salvation..

You should at least quote finish the passage, before you try to insert Paul's revelation into that passage.

27 Then answered Peter and said unto him, Behold, we have forsaken all, and followed thee; what shall we have therefore?

28 And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That ye which have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

29 And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name's sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life.

Peter and the others did forsake all and followed Jesus, unlike the rich young man, and Jesus replied that they "shall" inherit everlasting life.

What?So you're saying that John 3:16 or salvation through faith is just some made up stuff by Christians later?🤦🏼‍♂️

It happened in about 3 hours with me. After my third attempt at suicide in a week, I was weeping and bawling like a baby, as wave after wave of GUILT overwhelmed me. I was begging for forgiveness, even in my Vision or Dream, I was still begging for forgiveness as HE transferred my Human Spirit to the Literal Cross. I was on my knees begging for forgiveness, with my arms raised to HIM, when blood from the nail holes in his wrists, fell and splashed on my Forearms; and the BLOOD FELT WARM. That is where the Vision or Dream ended. I knew I had been forgiven for all my sins, and there were so MANY. During that three hours, I had prayed a prayer that the Holy Spirit Gave me. It was: LORD, FORGIVE ME, PLEASE FORGIVE ME! If you have a purpose for my life, then you are going to have to come into me and do what you want with me. I CAN"T live the way you want me to. I AM MAKING A TOTAL MESS OF MY LIFE.

That was a TOTAL SURRENDER TO HIM, out of LOVE FOR HIM, and I meant that Pray with my whole being. NO one ever thought me to pray like that in the Lutheran Church, so I knew it came from the Holy Spirit. He gave me a gift of total TRUST IN HIM, and I never have doubted.

That did not just happen though, the fact you called out to the lord means God had been working on your spirits drawing you to himself, teaching you about him, and at the same time, bringing you to spiritual bankruptcy,

I would say those final three hours was the most intense, but certainly not the completed work of God in drawing you to fall on your knees like you did

NO, YOU do not understand me, you see I had fallen for a FALSE GOSPEL, and it totally did not happen, until I was willing to surrender to HIM. I WAS PROUD OF LIVING MY LIFE MY WAY! You see the Church that I was a member of, TAUGHT to tell people they need to SURRENDER to JESUS was WORKS RIGHTEOUSNESS. I committed SUICIDE THREE TIMES in on week, the last week of 1977, two months before my 29 birthday. Yes, I was raised in a Church, and thought I was a Christian, because I took up space on a pew, and day-dreamed through every SERMON. I was NEVER A CHRISTIAN, but THOUGHT I WAS, ONLY BECAUSE I WAS IN CHURCH MOST SUNDAYS.

The reason for my SEVERE DEPRESSION was my wife told me On Christmas Eve, after we married six months prior to that; that SHE wanted a divorce, because I could not earn enough money to buy the things she wanted to buy. Some Reason! I hit bottom BIG TIME, and did not care if I hurt my parents, or brother and sister, or even my friends. I JUST DID NO WANT TO SEE ANOTHER DAY, and I REALLY WANTED TO END IT ALL, AND CEASE TO EXIST! The first two times was with a Pistol with a hair trigger. I had the Pistol against my temple with the trigger half pulled, WHEN SHEAR TERROR OVER CAME ME, and I Dropped the Pistol. That TERROR was way beyond what even a Mass Murderer could put in my heart, with KNIFE TO MY THROAT, could EVER PUT IN ME. I tried it again two nights later and the SAME TERROR OVERWHELMED ME.

PLEASE, NEVER TEST GOD THIS WAY, BECAUSE THE BIBLE SAYS, NEVER:
Matthew 4:7 (NRSV)

7 Jesus said to him, "Again it is written, 'Do not put the Lord your God to the test.'"

The Third Time I attempted SUICIDE was after I had saw a Road Crew pour a layer of very thick Gravel on a Dirt Road near my place, and I KNEW the Loose Gravel was the MOST DANGEROUS SURFACE TO RIDE ON. I went to my favorite watering hole on my Motorcycle, and continued to drink until I was three times as drunk as anyone had a right to be. We the Bar Closed I went home, ONLY to drop my Helmet OFF. And then went out to the loose gravel road. Thinking GOD probably did not exist, I looked up at the Sky, and TAUNTED HIM, as I cranked the Throttle WIDE OPEN a few yards from the Lose Gravel: "If you exist, YOU CAN TAKE ME ANYWHERE YOU WANT ME ON THIS MILE!" I shouted it at the top of my voice.

I kept the throttle wide open, and somewhere about the half mile mark, I remember thinking, "This feels like Pavement." So I continued full throttle. When I got to the end of the mile, I briefly stopped perpendicular to the Mile of loose Gravel, just wondering what had just happened. So I slowly went home to think about what happened, and to SOBER UP.

It was about 4:00 in the morning, when I started to go to bed, because it all had still, MADE NO SENSE, and when I crossed the threshold of the doorway something IMPORTANT HAPPENED TO ME. I believe THAT IS THE MOMENT THE HOLY SPIRIT TOOK UP RESIDENCE IN MY HEART. Wave after Wave of GRIEF and SORROW kept coming into my heart, for a couple hours; far greater than I have ever EXPERIENCED. That is the moment the HOLY SPIRIT made my SALVATION REAL, starting with DEEP CONVICTION, and because I could not believe HE could forgive a GREAT SINNER LIKE ME; HE gave me the Vision or Dream of Being at the CROSS.

You can believe what you want, but that MOMENT in time, is HOW I KNOW MY SALVATION WAS REAL, NOT BEFORE THEN. I KNOW I WAS STANDING IN THE GATES OF HADES AND HELL, BOTH NIGHTS I HAD THE PISTOL TO MY HEAD, READY TO WALK IN.

See Post #149,057 for the rest of the testimony.
