It is the work of God we believe...Jesus, John 6So do you think we are saved by the work of believing?
You can put 'work of' before anything in a sentence.

If this is true, no one is saved, because no one can be saved until they repent and come to God in faith, you are not made alive in sinAll of us remain in darkness until we are quickened. We cannot see any choosing by the natural man at the time of his quickening, Eph 2:1.
I do not agree, feeling sorrow would be the result of repentance, not repentance itselfExactly the same as remorse or regret. Being sorry for your sins is changing your mind.
I am beyond grateful that grace is what saves and defines us as his because if it had anythning to do with my efforts or how little I screw up I would not make the cutSalvation is by grace through Faith ( Hence the name i chose )
8For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
No what some do is add ' but '
Does you salvation message include a 'but '
For Example : ' But you have to repent of your sins "
But that faith is never alone ( calvinists)
"But you can't just live how you want and still expect ....."
"But .....
Why are some adding to :
.8For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: ?
Can it be that it really is good news ?
I'm just not sure on that , because it just says ' because they believe not in me ' . Which other verse would you use for ' sins in general ' that the Holy spirit convicts of ?I believe he reprove the world of all sin also, the law can not be a tutor if it through the HS did not show us our guilt
Can the law itself be the tutor to Christ?I believe he reprove the world of all sin also, the law can not be a tutor if it through the HS did not show us our guilt
Sanctification is synergistic
And salvation requires that the person hears the Gospel, believes and trusts in Christ for salvation.
This is orthodox Christianity.
No offense, but I believe that it is you that has it contrary to gospel truth.Once again you are trying to reverse what the Bible teaches. Looks like some people will never learn the truth.
Since Peter made it perfectly clear that their sins cold not be remitted until the repented, and that they could not received the Holy Spirit until they repented, what makes you think that they were regenerated before they received the Holy Spirit? That would be completely contrary to Gospel truth.
Only those who repent and believe receive the Spirit, and only those who receive the Spirit are born again (John 1:12,13). Regeneration is the supernatural work of God the Holy Spirit within the person who obeys the Gospel. And it is the Gospel which is the *incorruptible seed* of the New Birth (1 Peter 1:23-25).
And yet its clear the immature believer thinks foolish of the things of the spirit . With respect, this is the problem with Calvinism, that's why they cannot understand the things of the bible, once the system has replaced the authority of the scriptures. Their is no spiritual growth in Calvinism because they give over their sense making to calvinism. No offense, but I believe that it is you that has it contrary to gospel truth.
I explained exactly why I posted my reply to your post, and do not see any reason to repeat it.
The natural man, before he has been quickened to a spiritual life cannot discern the things of the Spirit, and thinks them to be foolishness. The Holy Spirit is given as part of the quickening process.

If we are not convicted of being sinners, we have no basis to repent or believeI'm just not sure on that , because it just says ' because they believe not in me ' . Which other verse would you use for ' sins in general ' that the Holy spirit convicts of ?
God uses all things, even his creation (Rom 1)Can the law itself be the tutor to Christ?
Not until a man repents can he even hope,to,recieve the spiritNo offense, but I believe that it is you that has it contrary to gospel truth.

I was just looking for a verse though or some verses ?If we are not convicted of being sinners, we have no basis to repent or believe
even the world knows things they do are sin, and are convicted at times, that is the Hs in my view
I just do not see how a person can repent if they are not convicted of sin, if you do not think your a sinner, your either gonna laugh and say Christianity is foolish, or be a modern day pharisee who believes in god but does not need Christ So he will either seek god religiously or be a legalistic ChristianI was just looking for a verse though or some verses ?
