Bulls and bans are one thing: the reality is quite another.

NOTE: I have yet to discover a passage in the Bible that either forbids or
condemns slavery. What I have discovered is much about the treatment of
slaves; and in that respect, California's mission padres have a lot to answer
for.

BTW: Speaking of Pope Leo X, his Bull of Exurge Domine, in the year 1520,
stated, along with some other things, that death is the termination not of
nature but of sin, and this inability to sin makes [purgatorial souls] secure of
final happiness.

In other words: according to Leo X's Bull, the occupants of purgatory are
unable to sin; subsequently, they are sinless and won't commit new sins
while undergoing purgatorial discipline and purification.

I'm sure you can see right off just how essential it would be for souls in a
purgatory to be incapable of sinning, because if they weren't, then Rome’s
promise in
CCC.1030, of an assured eternal salvation for purgatorians,
would be a tenuous guarantee indeed since each new sin committed while
interred in a purgatory would add time to the penitent’s original sentence;
with the very real possibility of potentially snow-balling to the point where
they would never be released.

In a nutshell; Leo X's Bull was basically an expedient to allay the fears of
Rome's followers that purgatory could very possibly become their permanent
abode. But as I said: Bulls are one thing, the reality is quite another.

I see you haven't a clue about Purgatory. Souls in Purgatory can't sin because they have died. They have died in friendship with God. All their sins are forgiven or they wouldn't be in Purgatory.
I have to tell you. When most non-Catholic Christians begin telling me what the Catholic Church teaches or intends I cringe. So much unwinding of untruth to get to the prerequisite understanding required just to begin to explain what is really taught.

You do know that all binding and loosing are not the same thing? Matthew 18 is about excommunication not forgiveness of sins. What's that about understanding context?

Saved unsaved is a non issue. Why be concerned about something that isn't revealed? Those rejected at the judgement thought they were saved. Those that were saved didn't know they were. I'll leave it at that because it is a non issue.
Jesus used the issue to demonstrate His deity.

Lu 5:21 And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, Who is this which speaketh blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone?

You really need to read the bible and forgo the catholic liturgy.

Salvation is not only revealed it is demanded. Jesus stated that a man could not enter heaven in his sinful state. You must be born again into Christ. No other option exists.

Purgatory is outright heresy. Jesus stated that once a man is in the torments of hades he cannot pass into the serenity of eternal life. Luke 16 again if you care to read your bible.

Notuptome, I got a bit testy in my last post and I'm sorry I did. I respect you too much for that. Anyhow.
I am born again and I have received the gift of the Holy Spirit. That really changed my life and my love for Jesus. Plus it made me a bold for witness for Jesus.

Purgatory is nothing more than the testing with fire that burns our useless works of hay and stubble and reveals our works of Gold that Paul taught us about. May the Lord continue blessing you. Grace and Peace

I'm familiar with Pope Leo X's Bull of Exurge Domine, plus CCC.1030,
CCC.1031, and CCC.1032

I was christened an infant into the Roman Catholic Church in 1944, and
eventually attended catechism to complete First Holy Communion and
Confirmation.

My siblings are Catholic, my mother was Catholic, my eldest brother entered
the priesthood and made it to the rank of Friar before passing away in May
2018 of cancer.

My wife is a former Catholic, her dad was Catholic, his wife was Catholic, my
aunt and uncle were Catholics, My sister-in-law was a "religious" for a
number of years before falling out with the hierarchy that controlled her
order, and my wife's cousins are Catholic; one of them is qualified to teach
Catechism.

It's been my experience in church, online, and in person that quite a few
Catholics lack a comprehensive grasp of their religions' beliefs; and in fact
quite a few Catholics I've encountered thru the years believe things that not
only aren't in the Bible, nor in the Catechism, but not even in the Church's
Bulls, Councils, and/or canons; and yet sincerely believe themselves to be
defenders of "the faith". Some of them are so far off track that they're
full-fledged heretics and don't know it.

That is a very immersed in Catholicism

Nope, they never spoke of a place after death where people who have failed can have their sins washed after death

Please show me the verse
Matt. 5
21Ye have heard that it was said of them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment:

So, the above passage sets the stage. Jesus is teaching about the afterlife.

22 But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.

23 Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee;
24 Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.

25 Agree with thine adversary quickly, whiles thou art in the way with him; lest at any time the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison.

26 Verily I say unto thee, Thou shalt by no means come out thence, till thou hast paid the uttermost farthing.

this prison isn't hell or else no one could get out.

One is in this prison until a debt is payed. The debt or reparation a brother may have against you.

No one with unforgiven sin can go to purgatory. Only those who died in Christ go there

Lotsa Catholics in your environment. Holy Orders in your family too.

I'm kind of a lone Catholic in my family since my parents passed.

One brother in law believes in reincarnation and I asked I thought you were Catholic? He said they'll come around.
Peace of Christ.

If it were hell there would be no getting out and no way to pay back the debt. Prison is penitentiary.
The real question is can anyone ever pay for their sin except by death?
