Isn't God all-powerful? Didn't God make satan? Why would God do that?

Genesis 3

1 Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said to the woman, “Has God indeed said, ‘You shall not eat of every tree of the garden’?”
2 And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat the fruit of the trees of the garden; 3 but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God has said, ‘You shall not eat it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die.’”

4 Then the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die. 5 For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”
6 So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate. 7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves coverings.
8 And they heard the sound of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden.
9 Then the LORD God called to Adam and said to him, “Where are you?”
10 So he said, “I heard Your voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; and I hid myself.”
11 And He said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree of which I commanded you that you should not eat?”
12 Then the man said, “The woman whom You gave to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I ate.”
13 And the LORD God said to the woman, “What is this you have done?”
The woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.”
14 So the LORD God said to the serpent:
“ Because you have done this,
You are cursed more than all cattle,
And more than every beast of the field;
On your belly you shall go,
And you shall eat dust
All the days of your life.
15 And I will put enmity
Between you and the woman,
And between your seed and her Seed(First Prophecy about Jesus in the bible);
He shall bruise your head,
And you shall bruise His heel.
”
16 To the woman He said:
“I will greatly multiply your sorrow and your conception;
In pain you shall bring forth children;
Your desire shall be for your husband,
And he shall rule over you.”
17 Then to Adam He said, “Because you have heeded the voice of your wife, and have eaten from the tree of which I commanded you, saying, ‘You shall not eat of it’:
“ Cursed is the ground for your sake;
In toil you shall eat of it
All the days of your life.

18 Both thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you,
And you shall eat the herb of the field.

19 In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread
Till you return to the ground,
For out of it you were taken;
For dust you are,
And to dust you shall return.”
20 And Adam called his wife’s name Eve, because she was the mother of all living.
21 Also for Adam and his wife the LORD God made tunics of skin, and clothed them.
22 Then the LORD God said, “Behold, the man has become like one of Us, to know good and evil. And now, lest he put out his hand and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live forever”— 23 therefore the LORD God sent him out of the garden of Eden to till the ground from which he was taken. 24 So He drove out the man; and He placed cherubim at the east of the garden of Eden, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to guard the way to the tree of life.

Satan was an angel in heaven. His name was Lucifer, he was the most handsome, best singer, leader of heavenly choir!That's what God planned for him that's why he made Satan. God didn't plan for him to turn away. God didn't make anything he made robots. He gave everything the freedom of choice. Satan choice pride, choice to turn from God. Just as we too can do....

God actually made sin but not through satan :). Read Rom 7, the law brought about sin.

But it was God who made the law anywayz

The bible says "all good things come from God" and "God is light and in Him their is no darkness at all"
The law did not make sin! If your dad tells you not to use his laptop and you use it, you are the one who has started that sin, you have become the author. All God ever said was you shall not eat of the tree of knowledge of Good and Evil. And Adam sinned by not obeying. Sin is doing what is wrong.

The reason why God allowed that to happen is so that He could show you how much He loves you, and so that He could be with you. The reason the world is the way it is now, is so that you and God can be together. There was another way (In Eden) but we got to sin. Anyway God bless

Sorry to say it but GOD DID NOT make sin. That came with satan in his fall his the one that made them ask for the law God just gave them Moses and the pillar of fire that was grace.

At the risk of sounding flippant, why not? For what reason or reasons should God have not created the devil even if he was going to fall? Just because God knows what will happen doesn't mean that the person (or angel) isn't free to make choices. Satan freely chose to rebel against God. God knew this would happen. Nevertheless, let me offer some possible reasons why God would create Satan even though He knew he would fall and rebel.
  1. It was necessary to have the fall so that God could then have a reason to die for our sins thereby demonstrating that God can and does provide the greatest act of love which is to lay down one's life for his friend (John 15:13).
  2. The fall of Satan provides yet another method for God to be glorified in that God can use sin to prove that sin is "bad" and that God's Word about righteousness is true.
  3. If God is to have creatures with free will, then the risk of rebellion is part of that freedom. Satan had that freedom and used it to rebel.
  4. If God had not created Satan and instead another angel fell, then we'd be asking why God made that angel knowing he would fall.
  5. God has reasons about which we know nothing.
I know my children will act badly at times, but knowing that does not mean mean that I shouldn't have kids. Part of the risk of freedom is that rebellion will be a reality.

This is good too.

Selenah, try this: For there to be "true free will" a person has to have the potential to choose to sin. God created us to have "true free will" to choose whether or not to follow or be "in Him". Therefore, He created the "potential" for humans to choose to sin, but He himself is not the Author of Sin.

Lucifer: Was an Arch Angel that chose to rebel. Similar to our Free will. Comparison is the Arch Angel Michael who chose to contiue to serve God. Hope this makes sense.

Well put!

I just read this and this is what I don't understand: If GOD loved his creations so much why did he want mankind itself to fall? Why did he put the tree in the garden purposely which would lead to the onset of sin? ._. Why would GOD want mankind to fall if there wasn't going to be any sin in the first place if he never put the tree in that garden of Eden?
I know that it was was to manifest all his glory in all it's fullness but wasn't it already in fullness?

It was Adam and Eve's choice to eat from the tree, just as it is our choice to steal from our neighbors and cheat on our spouses.

if you think god knows everything and had a part in creating the world, then yes. He created sin, death, and everything like murder, arson, robbery, broken limbs, lost limbs, poked out eyes and stubbed toes. And don't forget the holocaust.
