Why do people keep insisting this

if your obeying them out of gratitude and love and expect nothing in return, it is works of righteousness. And will be rewarded

if your obeying them because your trying to gain or maintain your salvation it is works of self, because your trying to gain things for self,

as scripture says, “not by works of righteousness which we have done, but by HIS MERCY. He saved us, (titus 3: 5)

and we have been saved by grace through faith, not of works, but we are created anew, to perform works, (Eph 2: 8-10)

You mean...born again...not saved....ed past tense, forever, without recourse, etc.
I doubt God would appreciate that conclusion.......because of this....."it is appointed unto man once to die...then the judgement....'.
After His judgement we may then be...saved.

Acts 2:38, Peter commands “Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ.” In Acts 8:16, Peter and John “baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.” In Acts 10:48, Peter “commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord.” In Romans 6:3, it declares “that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ.” No Water.
...is .....no water...a statement or a question?

I am sure god would not appreciate you taking his promises as stated in John 3 4 6 and other places and placing conditions on them thus making him a liar

And you are willfully completely skipping over the whole MEANING of the word "baptized". To the first century folks, there was NO misunderstanding what it meant. It meant immersion in WATER. ONLY THAT. Baptism in the name of Jesus is to be immersed (baptized) under the authority of Jesus... not under John's authority.... but God's. It's STILL BAPTISM.... immersion in water. No matter how badly you wish it was not so. This is what the church practiced for almost 2000 years without question. THEY understood it... but they were not as "educated" as you are, I suppose.

Can't be because water baptism is not taught in any of the Epistles written by Paul or any other Apostle. All that can be known for the Church of God concerning the gospel of Jesus Christ is in those Epistles. And water is not in there.

If it were your Bible would fall apart because there's nothing in water that makes any sense with what is considered our walk in the spirit. Pryor to the Church Epistles is where there was no spirit of Christ available because Acts chapter two had not yet come. So before spirit you had water. If you still have water today than spirit means nothing to you.

Water baptism is not taught in Acts either. Two guys just did it because they wanted to. Philip and the new guy. And it was probably in the beginning which a few people were still doing, but not once the New Testament got started.
It's not taught anywhere and that includes Acts.

Hi Peldom10, and welcome to CC...

As you're new, allow me to offer a word of caution: it's generally frowned upon to approach a stranger and tell them what they mean. They are likely at least as smart and thoughtful as you, and likely considered their words. Here too, it's better to ask or to offer your own thoughts than to tell them theirs were "wrong". :)

Despite the fact that it literally says WATER in Acts. Look here is water, if you believe in Christ you can be BAPTIZED in this said water.

You are IGNORING words in the Bible, you are ignoring Church history and appealing to common sense. You are leaning on your own understanding, thats where the error is, when you say stuff like:

It does make sense, and teh sense is, you are baptized in WATER and SPIRIT. No problem and no confusion. You do know that baptism is part of the great commission? Go into all the nations and baptize them, AND teach them.

no forbidding of water baptism and no teaching against water baptism is found anywhere in scripture. So all we know from scripture is what actually is written about it, which is in 100% of cases positive and in fact commanded to be done. There are no scriptural grounds for your argument, Peter, there are only scriptural basis against it.

appealing to common sense.
I disagree with this statement. I think he's neither using nor appealing to common sense. He's using transparently flawed argumentation. ;)

The whole New Testament teaches against water which was an Old Testament concept. Today we have the spirit of God that they did not have before it was given in Acts chapter two. To still think water means something is to not understand the spirit of God that the Epistles written by Paul teach. To think water is necessary can only be believed by those who walk in their own flesh and do not understand that which is spiritual. The New Testament teaches how to walk in the spirit of Christ which is to put on the new man and be in fellowship with God. Water has nothing to do with the new man. It's carnal thinking. Many of you people have called me a fool because I tell you the truth. This is okay with me. It puts me in good company because men did the same thing to Jesus.

I stopped reading your babblings after that bombshell. You just dont know anything about the Scriptures, thats your problem. Maybe its the teaching people to disobey against God's commandments that has blinded you?

Water baptism is always portrayed in a positive light in the NEW TESTAMENT. Give it up, no one who is born again will fall for this. Granted you may lure some unsaved people to your false religion.

really?
surely you can give an example, then. point me to a single verse in the epistles or the gospels that says no one should be baptized in water.

So am I understanding you correctly in this? and forgive me if not but are you saying we are born again but not actually saved until we die?

And again I ask you which you didn't reply to before do you not count the book of acts?

Paul baptized how? With water or in the name of Jesus Christ? Does it say? Did Paul teach water baptism to anyone?
This only shows you really not acquainted with what you are sayin even tryin to impress me with your Greek knowledge applied wrongly. The question is, did Paul baptized? The Bible says YES in affirmation.
