How does Jesus' suffering on the cross compare to an eternity in Hell?

If something REQUIRES faith, that suggests its reasoning is not strong enough. Should I 'have faith' that 2+2=5?

If you're interested in reading about reasoning or a Case for Christ, there is a book by that name by Lee Stroebel. Maybe that will satisfy your intellectual questions.

I'll look into that. Surely though, the Bible should be sufficient. It should speake for itself without any interloper.

No, you should have repentance toward God and FAITH in the Lord Jesus Christ.

How do you know reasoning is a reliable source for discovering truth?

Faith implies lack of belief. Faith is trust. Belief and trust are not the same thing.

So read the gospel of John and then ask yourself... "is this reasonable?" I can testify that when I read it I thought it was the most logical reasonable thing I had ever heard. I wondered why no one had ever told me this before.

Ever been to the Amazon?
Does it exist?

Ever see an electron?
Do they it exist?

Ever sit in a chair?
Did you inspect it first to be sure it would hold you?

Ever follow directions?
...

People take things on Faith all day long.
Faith the ability to receive something you don't know yourself.

If you don't have faith you cant receive something from someone else.
God says you must believe He exists and is a rewarded of those who seek Him,
If you have that then you can start.
If not you have the testimony generations and millions of people that say He does and they have been there and it was like this and like that and have been paying for that testimony even to the ultimate.

For me it was simple.
i heard it all around me all of my life.
I just had to know if it was true.
My one prayer was "God if you are real, I want to know!" and I wanted it with everything I had in me.
I went away with the awareness of the presence of the Spirit of God and realized it was not the first time in my life i felt it.
Now I just knew what it was.

My reason began to open up to God.

Yea,.. that is not the definition of faith. I don't think you are authority on the definition of faith yet. I would wait until you have more experience with it. :)

John opens with circular reasoning. 'There is the son of God who is Jesus, therefore Jesus is the son of God'.

'God's name is BuffyLou, therefore BuffyLou is God'. If that doesn't convince you that I am God, have FAITH.

Erm I can literally google the definition of faith like anyone else.

You can have faith the person you gave the money to will pay you back. That doesn't mean they will.

The bible says this and that and the other thing.
Either you accept its testimony and act on it in order to go and see for yourself or you do not.

You seem to be under the impression that we went about seeking God in the Bible and just happened to find Him there. The reality is many encounter Jesus before they open the Bible and reading the Bible serves as a confirmation of things they already know.

My own journey to faith didn't really begin until I stood in a movie theatre with my arms in the air screaming "MY WILL IS GOD'S WILL." From there He showed me that my will is most certainly not His will and broke me until I declared the Bible a lie.

Each journey is different, but faith is a way of perceiving the world and reasoning doesn't begin until we've staked our faith claim.

Some place their faith in men's ability to argue and reason, other's put their faith in their emotions, other's place their faith in some other capacity of themselves. We choose to place our faith external to us, on the self-revelation of God.

Edit: Just so it's clear, declaring the Bible a lie was a step in discovering it is in fact His self-revelation. I went there but He didn't leave me there.

Man is a spec in the universe
Living as one breath in the span of time.
Living as if his reason is God and nothing exists outside of his own mind and its ability to know.
Or He is a man of Faith.
