When it comes to this topic I believe many are infected with the leaven of the Pharisees. But the heart of God is to have mercy on whom he will have mercy and to have compassion on whom he will have compassion. To pour out His Spirit on whom he will pour out his Spirit and to Use whom ever He wills for Ministry. And that is a very good thing. And that violates the plain teaching of the Word of God.
I fully agree, many apostate liberal denominations started with women pastors, now it's homosexual lesbian pastors? And that violates the plain teaching of the Word of God.
It is clear in verse 12, that women were not to be allowed to preach publicly, in churches. But it is less clear what verse 11 means, as to the order for women to learn in silence in church. So since the Bible is not clear on that subject, I think women have to prayerfully decide that for themselves.
1 Tim 2:11-12
11 Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection.
12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.
KJV
We have recently started to attend a Mennonite church in town here. I like the church a lot. I admire and enjoy how so many men are willing to preach in the meetings. This is not true in most other churches. I have chosen not to even answer Bible questions that are asked by some of the preachers there, as I'm afraid it would offend some men there or intimidate them. My own dad (now with the Lord in heaven) said he believed women should not talk at all in Bible meetings or church meetings. I also learned from a man (Jerry) that attends the Mennonite church - that he doesn't believe women should speak in church meetings. So I gather that a number of men feel that way.
I am curious to know others' opinions of why it may be that men speak so little in most other churches. What do you think? Do you think it's because in our society - culture - women are largely often overly controlling over men (or insubmissive) , such as their own husbands?
I know their men are taught to preach a lot more commonly in their youth, compared to in Christian families that attend most other churches. I like that, and can imagine that is one reason this Mennonite church has so many men who like to teach and preach.
Also, I notice in the visiting time that takes place outdoors after Sunday AM church services - that the men show a lot more enjoyment for talking together (and discussing spiritual things too with others), as compared to what I see in other churches. They aren't in a hurry to rush home. The women too - of course, enjoy visiting together, too during that time - more than I see in other churches.

Joyce Myer, Multimillionaire?I heard (from Joyce Meyer) that back when that scripture was written, the women were uneducated.
In those churches, the women sat on one side and the men on one side. The women when they couldn't understand what was said, would shout (to their husbands sitting over on the other side) for some clarification.
Hmmm not sure if this was so, or where she got the info from.
But it seems that the women were quite boisterous.
Paul addressed church order, women are to be silent, and learn from their husbands at home. When we read in scripture that is truth, Paul was made a disciple by the Lord. Paul speaks what the Lord tells him. The problem is to understand Paul.
Paul wrote a letter to a church where women were disrupting the service so it ruined that church and Paul told them to stop it and be silent. Paul was not telling women who were not disrupting church and lived 2,000 years later to be silent. We know this because Paul speaks of women who helped him spread the gospel, he approved of them, and they were not silent.

You bet she supports and defends women preachers, look at that lavish lifestyle?

Myers built her empire on the backs of ignorant regarding scripture.I heard she writes a lot of best seller books. If you write best seller books on biblical content would you feel guilty for spending your book money on whatever you wanted to spend it on or would you feel that you should live in a trailer and give the money to the poor?
But what if a preacher does write books and makes millions on the books. Does he owe it to the poor or can he buy a nice house and ranch? I am curious as to what people think. What if he invests money in the stock market and does very well and gets rich. Should he still give it away because he is a preacher? Is he allowed to buy a nice ranch or does he have to stay in a small house in the town because someone might accuse him of fleecing the flock? Inquiring minds want to know.Myers built her empire on the backs of ignorant regarding scripture.
If she didn't have the coverage on television and the media, paid for by the flock in false foundation, she never would have sold a book.
The claim that all these fleece the flock preachers are seeking books, that accounts for their entire wealth?

Joyce Myer is fleecing the ignorant in the name of Jesus Christ, deception in the prosperity gospel. So What? Good for her. The people that are giving know all that. They want to give anyway. They have that right. The assets are not that impressive anyway. People buy tickets to see entertainers and don't care that they are making them rich. People who give to her ministry are glad she is doing well and like it. They give extra becuase they want her to keep preaching and they dont care if she is also getting rich. They have that right.
NONE of this has anything to do with the topic of the thread. How about you take your personal beef with Mrs. Meyer up with her personally instead of spewing filth here.Joyce Myer is fleecing the ignorant in the name of Jesus Christ, deception in the prosperity gospel.
I have the right to voice my opinion, and your claim of slander is a big laughable distraction!
A believer is a follower of Jesus Christ, Jesus having nothing on this earth, where a man's treasure is, thats where his heart is, the camel and eye of a needle.
"The Assets Aren't That Impressive", the info is from 2003, could you imagine the present?
$20 million estate, $10 million jet, just to mention a few.
I better understand who you are, and your position concerning Christianity and being a Christian.

It doesn't look good if a preacher is too rich, as it looks like money (god of this world) has some control over him. He can have one really expensive home in a posh neighborhood and maybe a couple of fancy cars and maybe a boat, but definitely not multiple rich homes, a jet, etc. He certainly shouldn't become rich from church tithings and offerings. If he is rich from other business that is fine. If he is getting rich from other business which relates to God's work like book sales, he shouldn't get too rich from that either. That is a bit like offering. Being a preacher, he should give a lot of his wealth to charity, etc.But what if a preacher does write books and makes millions on the books. I appreciate your input. I suppose it will not matter if the preacher lives in a 500K home there will always be people who live in 60k homes are going to automatically say he spent the members offerings to buy it and they will not even feel ashamed if they find out his dad died and left it to him as an inheritance. They will shift and say..."well a preacher should not have that kind of house because it looks bad" That is why I believe that preachers have to expect to face constant criticism. They have to just keep their eyes on Jesus and seek to please God and let the tongues wag because they will always wag no matter where he lives, what he drives or what he preaches. Pastors have to have really thick skin.It doesn't look good if a preacher is too rich, as it looks like money (god of this world) has some control over him. It's easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven.
Store treasures in heaven, where moth, rust, thief, doesn't destroy or take.
A $900,000 salary, $20 million dollar estate, and $10 million dollar jet, $9.5 million net worth?
That was in the year 2003, that was 17 years ago, "WOW"!
That could feed thousands of hungry children in the world?
