I think that is why Jesus informed Nicodenmus just after revealing a person must be born again .Marvel not . . but rather believe or exercise work out the unseen will .

Marveling or wondering places a person between to two burdens .(yes or no) Anything that is not of the faith of Christ that comes by hearing God is considered sin . it can break down the armor.

Here's another good example from Calvin's commentaries. He is himself affirming that God refutes his theology:

John 12:47: And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.

Suffice it to say John Calvin contradicted himself frequently on several topics and then struggled to defend his own arguments.

However, I see the bigger problem being the interpretation of his writings to create TULIP and have many of the tenets of this teaching are present in so many churches... "irresistible grace" seems to be the popular one on this thread.
