mmm some people think that if you are single, it means you are 'keeping your options option' i.e they are like, you're secretly desperately wanting to get married right, because *everyone* wants that.
I dont know where people get that idea from.
Maybe its because many churches have been traditionally places where people DO get married or at least have weddings.
Probably more unbelievers get married in churches then believers?
I think its more to do with culture than anything else. In Indian culture for example, they still have arranged weddings and mothers are desperate to have daughters married off (even if they are christians. not hindus). In western cultures, wedding are often associated with churches and big white dresses for the brides, and extravagant receptions. But on the other hand its also associated with money and land titles. If you are an heir or heiress you HAVE to marry to pass down your land, your name and your fortune. Its just a given..plus you are told to marry someone with just enough assets to contribute to your land title, otherwise with no heirs it wont belong to anyone anymore and have to be sold.
Then anyone can buy it.
In the Bible, it talks about the land being married. Well land lasts a lot longer than people do, although, the way people abuse it, it seems the land wont support people for too long who dont love it.
