No God calls us to believe... and belief is being persuaded, convinced and convicted by hearing of the Gospel and the workings of the

Holy Spirit...... people respond and receive.

A meritorious act is when one trusts "self" not when one trusts another.
Adding to that, people who trust themselves more than God don’t trust other people.

Exactly. There is no balance without understanding that God wants all to come to repentance. (2 Peter 3:9)

Are you saying God draws everyone to him?

God chooses everyone?...is that what you are saying?,x..everyone’s going to heaven?

Who said I deny the trinity?

Show me where I said that?

I hope you stop jumping to conclusions about me.
That’s your reaction regarding OSAS so it’s easy to surmise that would be your reaction regarding the Trinity.

I’m merely hoping you don’t make the mistake of becoming a Unitarian, or a calvinist for that matter. Don’t get defensive; I’m only looking out for you Jackie.

I've never heard the AMPC version being refereed to as dangerous. Romans 6:23 clearly states that "the gift of God is eternal life" through Jesus Christ our Lord. That agrees with Ephesians 2:8 in the AMPC. The problem with saying that faith "is" the gift of God (and not salvation) in Ephesians 2:8 is that would mean men no longer bear the responsibility to place their faith in Jesus Christ for salvation, because it was completely gifted to us. Only the fortunate few end up receiving the gift and everyone else is just out of luck. That brings us back to fatalistic determination with God.

After A.T. Robertson remarked "Grace" is God's part, "faith" ours on Ephesians 2:8, he also went on to say - And that (kai touto). Neuter, not feminine tauth, and so refers not to pisti (feminine) or to cari (feminine also), but to the act of being saved by grace conditioned on faith on our part. Paul shows that salvation does not have its source (ex umwn, out of you) in men, but from God. Besides, it is God's gift (dwron) and not the result of our work.

I certainly agree Eternal Life is a gift from God.

I don’t really need to read some guy’s opinion about the passage. It very clearly says Faith is the gift.

If Faith is not a gift, then we have something to boast of. We can say “ our Faith comes from within US, and we dug it out, unlike those who didn’t “

So the idea that it isn’t fair to say God chose someone cuts both ways in this debate.

That is not my reaction.

That is God’s truth....there are no words in the bible that say.

Once Saved Always Saved.....I am not getting defensive..I am trying to discuss...only it seems you don’t like what I’m posting....

Hence accusing me of being defensive.

Show me scripture that says Once Saved Always Saved?...simple yes or no...is it biblical?

I don't believe that God has predestined anyone to go to hell.

Is it biblical...if it is...then that is truth...if it’s not biblical then it’s a lie.....maybe preacher can post scripture on it....

I will check out scripture as well.

The phrase is not in the Bible and now you don’t believe in it. So now I ask you, do you believe in the Trinity even though the word itself is not in the Bible? Simple question deserving of a simple answer.

OSAS is not in the bible....Once Saved Always Saved....those words are not there.that is false teaching.
Okay ... if you believe it "represents" a false teaching that is your choice but I am not sure what you see is false about it.... It is a rather simple phrase to uphold eternal security.

I do believe in The Father ,Son and Holy Spirit...no question of doubt about that...all three are one....who doesn’t believe that?

I must do some biblical research on this as well. God can certainly know who is going to hell as a result of willful spiritual neglect but can't see how God would arbitrarily assign a person there.

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16

This is only "1" verse declaring OSAS. Many more.

DorothyMae - God’s AUTHORITY is based on LOVE, not selfish pride. God’s AUTHORITY CAN BE TRUSTED. You are safe in His Love.

To cry, “unjustly” very loudly would only mean I do not know God’s Love for me.......

Pride is after self-preservation which can only be achieved if it has all control and authority - it cannot accept that it is powerless and weak compared to God....it seeks some way to control God.....WORKS is it’s only chance!!!

Pride actually believes it can manipulate God to save it because of good works.....yet, pride will NOT be given mercy or grace....doesn’t matter how many “good works” it does, ONLY when God sees humility and love for the truth will grace and mercy be granted.

It’s the Father’s good pleasure to save you, just let Him save you....trust in His Love for you in the Gift of His Son - The Author and Finisher of your Salvation.
Lafftur

God’s authority is not because He loves. It’s not because He earns or deserves it by virtue of his great love. No higher power grants Him authority recognizing his love. He has authority because He created all life.

Secondly, there are and have been thousands of people in human history who KNEW KEENLY the love of God and still cried “unjust” when they saw injustice. So that’s not true either.

Thirdly no one in the Bible or human history that we know of tried to manipulate God to save them in any way. Your understanding of pride is incorrect. Pride thinks highly of the self in some aspect. It elevates itself above others in its own view.

Fourth, if you’re going to attempt a salvation message, you need to tell people to repent, not “let God save you.” No one in the Bible ever preached that.

I certainly believe that because the bible makes it clear that God is the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Three separate unique entities comprising one God.
