I believe we can wander off....but he will never let us go....because we are his children.

Do you understand that.....?....we

Are
His
Children......?

It’s also biblical that whoever God gives to Jesus..no one can take them from him.

So....he knows all about us.
This is my understanding as well. Jesus said that He has not lost a single one that the Father has given to Him.

Come let us reason together...
Isaiah 1:18

So he reasoned in the synagogue with the Jews and the devout persons, and in the marketplace every day with those who happened to be there.
Acts 17:17

God has the ability to reason and He gave us that gift as well, while I agree we are in a fallen state and our ability to reason is faulty as well, relying solely on divine revelation apart from reason is not what I read in scripture at all.

As someone once stated to me..............both blades of the scissors are required for them to cut.
...rock and paper.

The two blades of the scissors are The Word and The Holy Spirit. When a person is teaching according to God's Will they will speak The Word WITH The Holy Spirit, just as Jesus did.

The disciple Stephen just before he was stoned presented the history of Israel and the Messiah from the Torah to the religious leaders and at the end of his speech he cried out, "Why do you always resist the Holy Spirit?!"

Those scribes and pharisees clung so tightly to their human reasoning of the scriptures that made them so prideful that they would not receive the Truth that the Holy Spirit through Stephen was trying to tell them.

Holy men wrote the scriptures by being moved by the Holy Spirit, we cannot truly understand them without the Holy Spirit.
Do you think Jesus was not a thinking, reasoning person as well as guided by the Holy Spirit?

I did not state that we resist the Holy Spirit, nor that the Holy Spirit does not reveal, but we need to reason as well or we can just as easily fall into error.

"The written word" encompasses >>>>both the spiritual and reason.

The Book of Romans being a prime example.

I hear these scriptures a lot from various ministries and wonder how you interpret EH?

John 5:30
I can do nothing by Myself; I judge only as I hear. And My judgment is just, because I do not seek My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me.

John 6:38
For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but to do the will of Him who sent Me.

John 8:28
So Jesus said, "When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am He, and that I do nothing on My own, but speak exactly what the Father has taught Me.

John 12:49
I have not spoken on My own, but the Father who sent Me has commanded Me what to say and how to say it.

John 12:50
And I know that His command leads to eternal life. So I speak exactly what the Father has told Me to say."

John 14:10
Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me? The words I say to you, I do not speak on My own. Instead, it is the Father dwelling in Me, performing His works.

Similar to my question to EH, I think.

I do not see how these verses discount that God uses reason and created us with the ability to reason...when discerning truth.

@EleventhHour - you are a very dear and precious sister in Christ to me, I know that you love God with all your heart, mind soul and body....Like you, I too am ROCK SOLID IN FAITH IN CHRIST ALONE.

It's just time for you to come up higher. There's so much more God wants you and all that love Him to know and understand.

Here's a challenge......test the water......see if there's more for you....

Everyone knows Psalm 23, I'm sure you're very acquainted with it and intellectually know it very well, probably even have it memorized........

Go back to Psalm 23 and open your heart and your mind in all humility of spirit and diligently seeking Truth and ask the Holy Spirit to feed you secret hidden manna from the scriptures of Psalm 23......see and hear what the Spirit is saying to you specifically in Psalm 23.........

Don't be in a hurry, just sit with Jesus (The Word) and the Holy Spirit enjoying God's love for you and ask questions about the Psalm and listen.......(y)

All caps is shouting. You don’t want to admit it but it is.

I know you find me loathing. That’s obvious. I don’t loath you or your doctrine. My doctrine doesn’t produce loathing of those who don’t agree with me.
THIS IS SHOUTING:

THEN WHY DO YOU KEEP BRINGING OSAS UP WHEN THIS THREAD IS "NOT BY WORKS"?

I repeat, I refuse to go by FACE BOOK rules, I am OLD SCHOOL, born and raised.

From WIKEPEDIA:
In typography, all caps (short for "all capitals") refers to text or a font in which all letters are capital letters, for example: TEXT IN ALL CAPS. "All caps" may be used for emphasis (for a word or phrase). They are commonly seen in legal documents, the titles on book covers, in advertisements and in newspaper headlines.

Like I said, Do Not expect me to bow down to FACE BOOK RULES, Emphasis was all it meant when I was in High School in the Mid-60's.

The verses are only about Jesus. I would hope that we use reasoning and discernment too. 😉💖

Everyone of us makes judgements all the time about words spoken by others. Most of the time we don’t respond to them unless we have an opinion that warrants a response.

Here we should be comparing scripture with scriptures and most of us are doing this. So it’s not judging the person but the words.

When someone twists another’s words, it’s upsetting. People aren’t wrong in this case.

no, i don't know that they are completely wrong... but it is rather confusing to read at times. people seem to be treating Dorothy in ways that do not sound good and yet also accusing her of the same.:confused:

I don’t use Facebook and have no idea of their rules. What you wrote shows deep anger and shouting louder although you were demonstrating. I was in high school in the 70s and kursive was used for emphasis which is what I recall reading in books by known authors. They switched the font, not the caps.

You PROVE how little you do actually know about OSAS.

2 Timothy 1:9 (HCSB)
9 He has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace, which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began.

Titus 3:5-7 (HCSB)
5 He saved usnot by works of righteousness that we had done, but according to His mercy, through the washing of regeneration and renewal by the Holy Spirit.
6 He poured out this ⌊Spirit⌋ on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior,
7 so that having been justified by His grace, we may become heirs with the hope of eternal life.

Romans 5:8-11 (HCSB)
8 But God proves His own love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us!
9 Much more then, since we have now been declared righteous by His blood, we will be saved through Him from wrath.
10 For if, while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, ⌊then how⌋ much more, having been reconciled, will we be saved by His life!
11 And not only that, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ. We have now received this reconciliation through Him.

John 10:27-28 (HCSB)
27 My sheep hear My voice, I know them, and they follow Me.
28 I give them eternal life, and they will never perish—ever! No one will snatch them out of My hand.
{It is not ETERNAL, if you can lose it.}

1 Peter 1:3-5 (HCSB)
3 Praise the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. According to His great mercy, He has given us a new birth {It is the HOLY SPIRIT Who birthed our Human Spirit.} into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead
4 and into an inheritance that is imperishable, uncorrupted, and unfading, kept in heaven for you.
5 You are being protected by God’s power through faith for a salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.

Romans 11:29 (HCSB)
29 since God’s gracious gifts and calling are irrevocable.
I know more than those believers about it because I look at the fruit whereas those adherents only see the individual scripture they like (ignoring the others) and church startements. Original and thoughts are rare.

For example, the idea that Jesus taught that a man CAN FALL AWAY or walk away not being snatched but leaving on his own doesn’t occur to them. No one can snatch FROM THE OUTSIDE OF YOU but you can still CHOOSE TO LEAVE is not tolerated.

Is that Biblical language? What does "call fall away" mean?
That’s the term Jesus used. To fall away from the faith means one was a true born again believer who gave up their faith for reasons He said happen and separated them selves from faith making them no longer a believer.

What did you get from Jesus? What has he done for you?
Is that all you guys can think of such that this is the question you ask? This is why I posted as I did initially. Such repeated cry’s discouraging doing good lest one be “working for salvation” and the world misses out on blessings God would do through His people. My Bible tells me to encourage others to do good works not warn them against doing them as they are meaningless to God as it concerns salvation and salvation, for the OSAS believer is all there is.

It’s also biblical that whoever God gives to Jesus..no one can take them from him.

Jackrosie, He knows all about everyone so that makes no difference in our eternal destiny. He never promises his children cannot leave. The prodigal son left and the father DID NOT go after him. The 70 left Jesus and Jesus did not go after them. Paul listed people who had left and offered no hope that God was holding them tight.

I know OSAS theology well and you won’t find those promises. He won’t reject you but you can resist and reject him. And changing your mind is also possible. I know you don’t believe this.

Thank you, you have answered my question, if only you had said that in the first place.

Now I believe a genuine beliver cannot fall away from faith. Yes he may wander off the level path but God will bring him back.

If I'm wrong why so?
God never promises he will bring you back. The men Paul says had left the faith were not spoken of those God would bring back no fear. Jesus spoke of the faith of some from the imperishable seed, the Word, that perished and he offered no comfort in God reviving them.

I know you believe it. God does pursue those who leave but He doesn’t guarantee He will override their decision. One of your team says she resisted him for 28 YEARS. They are those who resist until the end and they become lost.
