I went to college in Alabama in the early seventies. When I wasn't in class, I was always in the woods or on a lake. On a hunting trip, I ran out of gas on the way home (about ten miles from home). Several people passed me by, but two black men in a beat up pickup stopped to help me. I have to tell you. I was terrified when they stopped. They drove me to my house to get my gas can, to the service station to fill up my gas can, and back to my truck. They wouldn't accept anything for helping me. I thanked them, and they were on their way. On my way home, all I could think about was would I have done the same if the situation was reversed? An honest answer, no. God taught me a lesson that day.

A few years later a young black Navy officer and I were attending a course in Norfolk, Va. His sister was attending a local college, and he asked me to drive him to visit her. I took him to visit her dorm. Little did I know that I was entering the freshman women dorm of the college, an all black college at that. They had a good laugh, and we all had a great evening. When we got back to the base, and I settled back, again I wondered would I taken him to my freshman sister's dorm. Honest answer, no. Not only that, I probably would not have taken him to visit his sister if I had known we were going to an all black college. God taught me another lesson that day.

It took many more lessons for God to get me where I am today, and I still have a long way to go. Someday, I will be able to walk down a dark street and not quicken my pace when I see a black man following me. I'll be honest. The activities that I have witnessed during the past few days hasn't helped me overcome my fears.

@HoneyDew, I am sorry for any disrespect that you or your family have experienced. There are many of us who are still learning. I pray that the last few weeks doesn't end with more fear on both sides.

I just did some research on the statistics you mentioned and they were shocking, especially the 1000 black babies who are killed everyday in their mother womb.
The other one, was the number of black children who grow up without a father in their lives. I think it was close to 70% so those poor kids never had a father in their lives to teach them values, they have to learn everything the hard way so I do pity them a lot.

Born out of wedlock, parents divorcing or have seperated, although not the ideal scenario, does not mean that the child has no contact or the father is not in their lives. It simply means that the father does not live in the same household. It does not always mean that he is not participating in the childs life.

I don't really know if there is any racism by white Americans towards African Americans, but I do know there are lots of very rich and successful blacks in the US. So I can't see how so many of them became successful, if they were discriminated against to the extent they would have us believe. I mean you recently had a black president, so the opportunities seem to be there for everyone who's willing to work towards achieving their goals.
So because there are some rich black people there cannot be any racism? One black president out of 45 is a wooohooo moment for you hunh?
There's a lot of things which don't add up, in this current crisis. We see Churches and work places forced to close down, then we see people marching with the police in tight formation. It's a real head scratcher

I take your point, every individual is responsible for their actions regardless of their skin color. We have a guilty complex here in Australia, the media bombards us with accusations of racism everyday. So you start feeling guilty for the actions of a few rotten ancestors from 300 years ago.

Our government throws $$$$Billions upon billions at or Aboriginals, they represent 3% of our population of 26 million. So they're a very small number but they make up 40% of our prison population. We treat them like Royalty but they still hate us, for what some of our ancestors supposedly did to their ancestors centuries ago.
Multiculturalism, the system of the Beasts, never works. It is not the correct way of things, and every foolish nation that tried this thing usually has pretty common themes such as you detail pop up.

This thread was put here for no other reason other than controversy. The person who started the thread does not care what circumstances led to this death, or that someone died. But yes, let there be a thorough investigation.

I looked at your profile, but it was restricted. Perhaps I would have PMed you. But really, some things said have to be ignored. Even I say that to myself all the time.
You are absolutely right. :) Thank you

You know, I am not American and so I feel like an observer to the goings on here. I was never prejudiced against black people but honestly? with what I see on tv, I am appalled and I really disagree with the constant barrage against white people and people trying to say that there is systemic racial prejudice etc. If you ask me, they are their own worst enemy sadly enough.

I like to point out that Obama is half white. ;)

Bill are you saying that you would feel no fears if it was a white man?

If I was on a dark street on my own late at night, whether it be black, white, asian it doesn't matter. It could even be a stray cat or dog. I would definitely quicken my steps.

Bill why are you so afraid of black people? Are all your family and friends like that too? What was your childhood like? Did you know any black kids when you were coming up?

Well is there a difference between whites and Cajun in terms of appearance? I'm not very familiar with Cajuns, except hearing it mentioned as food.

Hi Kim,
From my perspective, cajun is a culture not a race. White folks that live in Louisanna on the gulf coast. Tough, hardworking, self sufficient.

You all are a bunch of hateful people. Not one kind word from the lot of you. Stop deflecting. If I were a new Christian none of you could tell me a thing about Jesus. I do not see him represented in any of your comments. I could through out some statistics too about non black people but for what? Some of you think your are so superior and a bunch of no it alls. Not one of you spent a day in a black person shoes yet you have all of the answers and know what it is be black. You all are rude and obnoxious and full of yourselves. 6 black men in a matter of a week or 2 were found hung from trees in different states and you all believe that it is suicide? SMH

Free to do what we want? Yeah okay, but we can't go anywhere to a park or beach or a pool without someone who cannot mind their business asking us what are we doing there and calling the police. We can't walk around stores without being followed. While they are watching us a non black is robbing them blind. We can't even go into the building that we live in without people asking what unit do you live in and thinking we are tresspassing. We can't do are job and deliver things to someones home without being questioned and the police called even while in uniform. How about mind your own business and leave people alone who aren't bothering you.

One in paticular doesn't even live in america but their disdain for black americans is ridiculous. It's probably just blacks in general because they reach deep down to pull out the most hateful things.

My mother is almost 80 and she stopped to get gas. I guess she was taking to long at the pump and instead of asking if he could help her some white man told an almost 80 woman to go back to africa. Really? Why, over gas? My mother was born here as well as her mother and her grandmother and so on.

Nobody is asking for your apology. Noone asked you to change your skin color. Nobody cries "All lives matter!" when someone says Blue Lives Matter. So the problem you have is with the black. I don't care what you bring up about black people it doesn't mean that they deserve to die. UGH and believe it or not you put your pants on one leg at a time just like we do.
I'm sorry for your mothers experience, is she a ''born again '' Christian ?

i think suicide is sad for anyone, most people that commit suicide feel that their lives dont matter

it could be a myriad of things that trigger suicidal thoughts but the one thing is they feel they dont matter.

when you are minority often you feel you dont matter cos you are smaller than everyone else, so your vote doesnt even count either as it can just be overruled by the majority.

The saddest thing for anyone is to be overlooked and neglected. But God knows every hair on our heads, even not one sparrow falls without Him knowing, do not our lives matter to Him more than the birds?

as humans we are made in His image, and that come in many colours.
I cant think of how hard it must be to be black in a white world, when white people go to africa they get treated really well, but when black people go to america they get treated as slaves. somethings not right.

nz has one of the highest youth suicide rates in the world...and young people were dying because they felt they had no future. this was because economics had been geared to only favour the baby boomer generation. among other reasons but this was what it came down to.

Black cats taught me a lot about how humans can be racist, and some of the problems black people have when people dont see them as people.
for some strange reason, our family have always had a lot of black cats.

fluffy was a black cat who kind of chose to be with our family. she was like a queen and acted a bit like a queen, she was so soft and beautiful with amazing black fur. unfortunately fluffy found that being black has its problems because her fur was like an afro for cats.

it got really hot in summer and she would sunbathe on the shed roof and her fur would go brown. now white people when they get a tan they go brown so they kind of do it in reverse. if they dont go brown they go red like lobsters and have to use a lot of sunscreen. white cats also have porblems mostly they go deaf and get skin cancer because they dont have melantonin.

anyway fluffy had some cat friends that were also black, one would come over and his name was Blackie. He was shorthair but black as midnight. the thing with black cats is they have unfairly been reviled in history as being bad luck. But when we had Fluffy we had nothing but good luck.

Sorry for the delay in response Kim.

Today I quicken my steps when anyone is following me late at night. Things are so bad in many areas, I avoid them altogether.

I grew up in the forties and fifties in the deep south where segregation was deeply ingrained in white people. It has been a long journey and God has dealt with my fear with many lessons. I just posted a few examples.

We raised our daughter and granddaughter in the same part of the south. Many of their black and Hispanic friends have spent nights and weekends with us. I've worked with, gone to church with and visited them (in their homes and ours). I am not afraid of black people. I am afraid of some people (many are black) who threaten my well being.

I would love to post many more of the lessons, but I am not physically able to.

I will leave you with another lesson from my time with my black friend in Norfolk. He needed a car, so we went car shopping. On the way to the sales lot, he told me that he wasn't (his words) going to be a "n..." and buy a Cadillac. When we got to the lot there was a beautiful used white Cadillac on sale. We went through all the cars in the lot, and he left with the Cadillac. When we got back to our quarters, he got out of the car laughing. He told me that I was right when we drove into the lot. It was a beautiful Cadillac. God taught me to be myself, and let my friend be himself. He also taught me that the "n..." word was derogatory to black people.

But they are not buying it and now crying justice for Robert Fuller.
Even after two autopsies? Los Angeles had become *lawless Angeles* a long time ago. And let's keep in mind that blacks are murdering blacks even while shouting "Black Lives Matter."

Also what is "crying for justice" when Anarchists have taken control? When there is no law and order, no rule of law, no police force, and no prisons, then no one should be "crying for justice". "Crying over our stupidity" would be more appropriate for Anarchists.

But white peoples are the majority. It’s the minorities getting a hard time. The majority is not falling on hard times.

Saying that the majority is suffering in America is simply not true.
