That is EXACTLY the way I see it. It's kind of spooky but it's as if you're reading my mind and writing my thoughts! Quite frankly I am thrilled to know that someone else agrees with me about the priority and reality of this present age.

No. He did not say singleness was better for all, and he acknowledges the troubles of the flesh in marriage. Saying singleness is better for all people has no biblical basis at all. You are oveselling singleness and undervaluing marriage. God needs people to marry, that's his plan for creating godly heritage. People staying single is not going to accomplish that.
You are not going to like the sound of this brother, BUT.....
In my opinion the Church the Body of Christ has absolutely no DEMAND placed upon it regarding children and marriage. Worshiping at the feet of Christ and the Great Commission is all that matters. Everything else is noise.

We are not part of this world. This world is not our home. We are only tabernacling here. We have a heavenly inheritance, not earthly. We are in Christ and Christ is in us. We are the culmination of all of Gods work, promises and blessings from eternity past to eternity future. And other than preaching the gospel and saving souls, this life is irrelevant. Our second birth is the only birth that really matters.

Who is saying that marriage and family is the believer's chief calling? Marriage is the default position. Marriage is the grace of life. Most people will do better married, that is the point of 1 Corinthians 7. No where is Paul saying it is better to be single? That's for Paul but he knows it isn't for the majority. How are we going to raise the next generation of believers if people don't get married? Protracted singleness is not God's design.
Yes I agree that marriage and family could be a person's chief calling in this life. Definitely. Marriage as the default position?..... no I disagree with that. There is no default condition for Christians as far is this world is concerned, other than the great commission. Our default condition is glorification in the heavenlies.

We are only tabernacling here.
Yes - and, while we are "tabernacling here" - some of us would like to have a companion to share this life with - [if possible] to encourage us daily - and, to diminish the distractions that we deal with daily because we do not have that companion in our life.

That was Christ's decision. He made Paul the way he was. He gifted him for singleness. Being married would have been a disaster. Married people are interested in Christ. We have to love our wives as Christ loved his bride the church. Jesus was looking for a wife, that's essentially why he came into the world and marriage is a dramatization of the gospel. Marriage is a good and normal thing. It is a godly thing to do.
Great. So is it true that Jesus came and looked for a wife. And it is also true that we are married to Jesus. So why are we bothering to marry anyone else? Again I say we are complete in Christ Jesus.
Just a thought but I doubt very much that Mary Magdalene ever married anybody. She loved Jesus and He was all that Mary ever really wanted!

Not having a proper 'balance' of [certain things] in your life can keep you continually distracted...
Okay. Never had that problem.

I can say with the utmost confidence I made the correct decision!
Good for you, I'm glad! Now run along and go enjoy your married life and stop telling others that they must banish them self to a life of perpetual singleness.

We are spiritually complete in Christ but that is not an encouragement to stay single. I know that is tossed around as if it were but that isn't good interpretation. Complete in Christ means you don't need to do anything to earn your salvation, Christ has completed that by living a sinless like dying on the cross to bear your sins and rose again. That's a wonderful truth but is not a statement of marriage or singleness.

Loving Jesus is a commandment for all people, married people are not exempt from a life of devotion. They are just more likely to do it married than being riddled with unmet sexual needs. This is not a competition. Good (if gifted to be single), Better (if you can't do that) to marry.

I was only comparing singleness and marriage. Adam and Eve were created, that established the norm, the default. The Bible says whoever finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favor of the Lord. I am thankful for that. That truth is for singles and married people. Some here give me the impression being married is a waste of time.

I am truly sorry if I have perturbed you in some way. But correctly stated, I am not telling anybody anything, I am only laying out the scriptures and letting them speak for themselves.

And have a good evening. Singleness is truly fantastic!

7 Now concerning the things whereof ye wrote unto me: It is good for a man not to touch a woman.

2 Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband

After reading the entire chapter I think it is obvious that he is saying "Most Christians would do better to be like him (celibate and single and too consumed with Christ to notice) but to avoid fornication let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband"

Married people and single people have a lot more on their plates than worshipping and the Great Commission. We need to work, shower, buy food, take care of ourselves, serve, help our parents, raise our children, go to school, a lot of things and are to workship and carry out the GC all the while. Married folks and those with children have even more responsibilites and there is nothing evil about any of them. They are necessary. Loving your wife like Christ loved the church is worship. Cleansing her with the washing of the word is worship. Teaching your children the word of God and disciplining them is worship.

God even says having many children is a blessing. The more children the more responsibility God places on the parents. The whole family unit glorifies God, it's his idea and civilization needs it.

You fail to comprehend the uniqueness of the Church. We are not commanded to do anything as regards marriage. In fact we are already resurrected we just haven't quite gotten there yet. And as Jesus makes perfectly clear, after the resurrection we will not marry.

Matt 22:30
"For in the resurrection, neither do they marry, nor are given in marriage, but they are like angels in heaven."

We would do well to remember that we can live life now as we will in eternity future. But will we?

Marriage is ordained of God and the marriage bed is holy and undefiled. To grasp what Paul was saying about the religious benefit of staying celibate does not require one to have a disparaging outlook on marriage.

For Paul marriage was a waste of time. Period.
I don't think I'm going to get any disagreement on that point.

How many of those who asked Paul this question followed his advice and remained like him? We don't know but I am guessing not very many.
