5 if he did not spare the ancient world when he brought the flood on its ungodly people, but protected Noah, a preacher of righteousness, and seven others; 6 if he condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah by burning them to ashes, and made them an example of what is going to happen to the ungodly; 7 and if he rescued Lot, a righteous man, who was distressed by the depraved conduct of the lawless 8 (for that righteous man, living among them day after day, was tormented in his righteous soul by the lawless deeds he saw and heard)— 9 if this is so, then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trials and to hold the unrighteous for punishment on the day of judgment. 10 This is especially true of those who follow the corrupt desire of the flesh and despise authority. Bold and arrogant, they are not afraid to heap abuse on celestial beings;
Noah was a preacher of righteousness. After receiving the message from God about judgment and building an Ark, Noah for decades preached repentance.
Can you imagine the hate and flak that man, his wife, and children received while also building a giant boat in the middle of a desert?
I could imagine the frustration of Noah who cared enough for the people around to preach repentance. No one would listen but only continued in the corrupt desires of the flesh and despise authority that preached restraint.
They would despise, mock, and joke about the knowledge of God and the decrees of God.
Just as the days of Noah will it be again before Christ returns.
Luke 17:26-27 New International Version (NIV)
26 “Just as it was in the days of Noah, so also will it be in the days of the Son of Man. 27 People were eating, drinking, marrying and being given in marriage up to the day Noah entered the ark. Then the flood came and destroyed them all.
Paul explains prophetically the world of the end and as explained it was the world in Noah's day.
2 Timothy 3:1-4 New International Version (NIV)
3 But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. 2 People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, 4 treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God—
I don't know about you but I get frustrated when the message or gospel feels as if it constantly falls on deaf ears. Knowledge is gained from thousands of different sources but wisdom and understanding get suppressed. The world claims to be wise but God calls it foolish.
Will they open their eyes before the end? The Ark has been built. God is patiently waiting for those who will enter. Once God shuts the door then all who lived in rebellion will also perish in rebellion.
