the "alone" part was added later to make the doctrine work. Luther was a good man but his hatred for Catholics clouded his judgment.
False.....implied by scripture....what has been added -->religionist view that says faith and works needed for salvation!

He was also ignorant

he never had to add alone, it was insinuated all through scripture

Careful not to be sucked in otherwise you'll be going round in circles for hours with these people.

We are dealing with lazy Christians here, who want salvation but don't want to have to worry about keeping God's commandments because that's too hard!

John 14:15
If you love me, keep my commandments

that’s your problem. You focus on one sin. Paul said if you keep the whole law yet fail in just one point your guilty
stop thinking of Murder and think of your own sins

Janes spoke to people who claimed to have faith but had no work HE TOLD them their faith was dead. He did not tell you to play God and judge them
James was just repeating what He learned from the teachings of his brother who just happened to be the Christ, Jesus said the pharisees taught but do not practice.
James and Jesus, along with the 12 and st Paul all had works. what example do you follow?

Believer/Figure one and the same as we were discussing JAMES and him not being a BELIEVER until after the resurrection....and I highly DOUBT James is more Documented Than MOSES, ABRAHAM, JESUS, PAUL and or even PETER.....and who cares....James does not teach faith PLUS WORKS to be saved or justified before GOD!

You do know the word Hypocrite comes from two Greek words right? How would you describe the above false allegations and the quote below?

I feel that our disagreements are beginning to verge on personal attacks

No, not all sin is dealt with at the cross.
This is only true for people who follow Christ.

Are you saying that those who choose not to follow Jesus also attain salvation?

Inexact use of language leads to the utterance of sweeping statements that are not true.

This is your quote... it is not about limited atonement dogma it is about the cross not be sufficient to save and sin not being covered.

HOWEVER, Jesus repeatedly told people to stop sinning, and we are warned that if we deliberately/knowingly continue in sin following the acceptance of Jesus into our lives, Jesus' sacrifice will NOT cover these sins:
Hebrews 10:26

"Dear friends, if we deliberately continue sinning after we have received knowledge of the truth, there is no longer any sacrifice that will cover these sins".
Have you changed your mind now?

your right i made a mistake, it was supposed to be NT figure not the entire bible. it had to do with the whole "the way" movement, James is wrote about a great deal.

Luther thought thats what James taught because he wanted to get rid of book.

I did read the above quote and what you are yet missing, but will find out soon enough is that the person you are coddling, agreeing with will turn on a dime the first time you disagree with his all knowing mind and then will mouth to no end....hence why many have him ignore and or refuse to engage him.....cut and paste this for a future reference!
You may well turn out to be right, but I'm not here to make allies.
I'm here to interact with ALL Christians and chat basically :)

Obviously eleven is speaking in context of Christians and the thread.

I don't understand what the requirement for Christians to keep God's commandments (John 14:15) has to do with Calvinism?

Or is this just another personal attack on another user of this forum?

I don't care what Luther thought, believed, peddled or said. The bible is clear, so is the context of James, ROMANS, Ephesians, Titus, the writings of John etc.....!!!

FAITH PLUS WORKS to gain, keep, maintain, top off, embellish salvation is not given in scripture!

You're misunderstanding what is being said in this thread, despite me clarifying it for you already.

Are you seeking to argue, or seeking to understand?

James stated a fact

if you claim you have faith but have no works, can YOUR faith save you

james and I agree, no

mere belief never saved anyone

james did not contradict paul who said we were not saved by works of righteousness which we have done, but by gods mercy

you have failed to comprehend james, period
