God is listening to the faithful one praying, not men.

We are instructed to pray in the spirit.
According to the bible praying in the Holy Spirit is not praying in an unknown tongue.

Prayer is for our benefit as God already knows our heart on every matter. Prayer reveals to us that which God already knows.

Those who obediently walk in this gift, as we are instructed, walk in the power He died to bring us.
Jesus was clear that many in these last of the last days would hold to and outward form of godliness and deny the power.
best wishes

Bible gateway is hardly a reliable source for commentary on the bible. 1 Cor 13 has great bearing on 1 Cor 14.

I agree that many will not endure sound doctrine in the end times. I just believe you are on the wrong side of the equation.

By the way biblical soteriology precludes being a Christian from birth.

We are required to take all things to Him in acknowledgement of His truth, not lean on our own understanding, the majority who hold only to an outward form end up with your position.

God gives His truth in His word. Believe it or not it's up to you. Like it or not it's up to you. Change it you cannot.

If you ever choose to grow His meat will be available to you.

What a snarky condescending remark.

Joh 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

When people think of tongues and speaking in the spirit they think of unknown utterance words or babbling like an infant, however there is not very many instances when this is how it happens and even then the reason for it is not what people think.
I do not have the gift of tongues in that way but I do have it in another way.
When you draw near him and you and him are in that moment of great intimacy where it is as if you are no longer two seperate hearts but one that is when there are words that cannot be expressed in the human tongue, there is a graoning in the spirit, things you want to say to him and pour out to him but have not the words.

There are times when we want to express our love for him in these moments and the only way to even try is a language of the heart. Words are poured out to him with no voice, things are said and spoken to him that have no sound but the depth of what is spoken far exceeds what anything we could ever say could.
The word love instance simply doesn't do it justice it isn't even the same feeling it is so much deeper so much richer so much more beautiful.

I wonder if it isn't an act of the adversary to throw off people from exercising this gift He has provided and commanded us to use. seems when the subject of prayer language comes up immediately someone pipes up with a misunderstood scripture that it isn't available, or the scripture about public tongues for the body.
As close as we are to Pentecost it is well to bring it up as He is growing and pouring out Spirit upon His own in these last of the last days.
I recall the scripture of the Disciples asking why He spoke in parables to the masses and not to them, He explained how it was not given to the masses to understand but it was given to the disciples, and the difference I can see is the Holy Spirit was given to Jesus by John, Jesus imparted Holy Spirit to His own the Father had given Him, that was before Pentecost, now we all have the opportunity to become Holy Spirit filled, but so many stop at salvation and refuse to grow.

Out of all the gifts the tongues is the one that is most disliked and put down, people have given up on these things because they have not seen it or experienced it and their interpretation of scripture is based on what they themselves think and so the truth is blinded.
The gift of tongues may be one of the more rare types and I have seen my fair share of it ebing faked but I have experienced it once before and I can say for sure it is very real.

Jesus doesn't work against it, His own, don't work against it.
" their interpretation of scripture is based on what they themselves think and so the truth is blinded." Seems this rings so true, even in this thread, we are to take everything before the Lord, not rely on our own understanding, we saw that early on in this thread, and this is how the enemy fights this gift, and he fights it as it opens the heavens for the believer to walk in His power.

The Holy Spirit does not work outside of the confines of the word of God. The Holy Spirit serves Christ and the Father. The Holy Spirit does not make doctrine contrary to the word of God.

Technically tongues and it's debate is not a doctrine more of a belief and understanding of it. And yes the spirit does not work against the word of God but the word says it will cease when things are complete and judging from the looks of things in the world it is not complete.
