The mind is where humans justify, think, create, reason, understand, process, scheme, deceive, decide (to help).

An unsaved person can justify not believing in God because they help others and do good. But that is more because their mind understands by doing these things they equal themself to God. And they are trained by seeing others help, so they can choose to follow that example.

We Believers on the other hand, can feel convicted by choosing not to help. This is SOUL. It's a direct connection to God through the Holy Spirit. When we choose in our minds to not help, to ignore, to do wrong, our SOUL speaks to our Consciousness. Our own Consciousness then sends thoughts and feelings to both our thinking portion of the brain and to our heart where our emotions come from.

Therefore, if the Soul is connected to the mind at any specific place, it's within our Consciousness. But, I do not believe the SOUL is part of the mind, I believe it is a function designed for God to speak to us by thoughts and emotions from the Consciousness.

When we were convicted and chose to be accept Christ for Salvation, it took place first within the SOUL, and then from there went to our Consciousness. So, the SOUL and Mind are separate, but the SOUL converses with the Consciousness, and then that travels to the thinking side/reasoning side of the Brain and then it goes full blown to our heart where our emotions make us feel guilty, good, happy, elated, relieved, etc.

When we die, the portions of our body that think, create, reason, etc plus the heart where the emotions come from are all buried. But the SOUL moves on. So the Soul is God's Creative speaking point. If we Believe in God, we Believe first from our Consciousness. If we do not believe, we do so from our Consciousness. Once we shut the SOUL down, our Consciousness stops speaking to us. It's why humans can murder and feel justified. But for the Believer, doing wrong results in God speaking to our SOUL, who speaks to our Consciousness, and then we ask for forgiveness.

Thank you for the explanation but i just want a simple yes or no to me question in post #512.

It's not a simple yes/no answer, because without the entire process being made aware, it makes no sense to answer.

How about your answer yes or no....Then in a separate paragraph, you can elaborate. I literally don't know what you believe because you go into so much detail about irrelevant things. They might be related things, but for the purposes of this discussion, they are not relevant.

If you ever meet people who want you to believe they are genius, educated, intelligent. They have shut down their Consciousness. They have concluded God is a silly novel idea. Their SOUL no longer is connecting to their Consciousness by choice.

The Believer on the other hand, relies upon the Soul conversing to our Consciousness. Because this is where GOD SPEAKS to us at!

I majored in Science and Biology and Mathematics. The functioning of the Mind is one of my favorite topics. Therefore, a simple yes/no is misleading when trying to answer.

A simple yes/no literally means you are answering with no idea to how the Brain actually functions.

It's like the Narcissist. The left side of the brain is where ideas come from. Let's say you are entertaining murder. The right side of the brain is where your reasoning exists at. This is where your right side literally speaks to the left side by saying, no, we do not do that.

But the Narcissist, Mentally Ill, many times there is a disconnect between the 2 sides. It's why you see someone in court for murder and they act like they did nothing wrong. Well, without having a right side communicating to the left side, they do truthfully believe they have done nothing wrong.

And I am a student of Neurocardiology and Biblical Studies. What's your point?
If you explain something simply, then you don't understand something well enough to teach it to others.

When you have a person whose brain is basically in laymen's terms, disconnected, you know the SOUL is not in the Brain because the SOUL is what speaks to the Consciousness.

And by your own admittance, you claim to be dyslexic. If you need simple answers, the Brain is not where you should be studying at.

The soul is either
1. Analogous with the mind
2. Separate of the mind
3. A branch of the mind (one of the part of the mind)
4. The source of the mind (the inverse...."the mind is on of the parts of the soul")

There are no other alternatives. Name one if you think there is. After we chose of these paths of reasoning for this subject then we can move on. But we have to establish some common ground first.

The Souls is Separate from the Mind and it only communicates to the Conscious!

Ok, thank you for answering simply. Now we can move on.

I can read and reason just fine. But when people are grammatically incorrect or misspelling words or communicating in fragments....it can be difficult to know what someone means. That is true for most people, not just me. And for the record, my teachers tell me I am an excellent student. That was very condescending of you.

I apologize!

But the functioning of the Mind is literally in thousands of layers. Each layer is specific. It's why they will take the mind of someone who has suffered from concussions or the jolting of the Brain after death. Slice it into thin layers. And analyze how many layers the
Brain has been affected by the damage.

You can do this to those who also suffer from Psychological Disorders.

We are discussing the most powerful organ of the human anatomy. When I studied, it was a dog eat dog classroom environment because the Mind controls everything about us.

Moving on now.... (Just to make sure I am understanding your view)...
The Souls is Separate from the Mind and it only communicates to the Conscious!
This would entail that the soul and the mind do not overlap in their function. ....This is what you believe?

Yes, because the soul communicates to the Conscious, who communicates to the Processor and relays from that point.

Understood. That being said, lets test that with Scripture: (we're gonna do this one verse at a time ,to keep things simple for the other members reading this...

Matthew 22:37 Jesus tells us that the mind and the soul have the capacity to function in love. I.e. we can love with our soul... And we can love with our mind. How can this be true if "the soul and the mind do not overlap in their function"? (which you admit is your belief)

Jesus is also saying the mind and soul are not working together in this function of love which verifies a separation of the soul to the mind. If we are saved, we give our entire being to God. God loves us to the Soul for us to relay that to our mind. When we love God with our Mind, our Soul acts like a confirmation. This is how I see this verse.

Thank you for sharing how you see this verse, but it didn't answer the question.
