Good Question!

It is not HAVE TO, it is WANT TO. Part of our New Nature as a Born Christian, is to Want To confess every sin we find in our lives.

VERY FEW SINNERS REALLY WANT TO CONFESS SIN, when THEY ARE NOT BORN AGAIN.
I totally agree with you.

We confess because we know we have done wrong.
We acknowledge that, say sorry.
To me it's a relationship issue.

Basically to contact confess is to acknowledge we messed up

I am with babes all day, have very little social life and I like to know others thoughts.
Yes your are right I do get anguished at some postings,I am compassionate and sensitive and regret my retaliation. I do like this thread as it gives me cause to search deeper into the word.

We are all growing, hopefully in the good soil, and I never want to become stagnant nor lukewarm.
Thank you for your concerns.🌹

Notice that - If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (vs. 9) is IN CONTRAST TO - If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us (vs. 8) and - If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us (vs. 10).

Some people misunderstand verse 9 to mean that we must confess each sin that we commit as we commit them (keep a specific inventory) as an additional requirement to remain cleansed and if we forget a sin we are toast!
Yep that's how some interpret v9.

Although a lot of commentators believe this was written to the Gnostics who had infiltrated the church.

Searching deeper into the word is a good thing... however I just wish you could reexamine your beliefs to see if they really stand up under biblical scrutiny .... we have all done this...and yes you too can learn from men.

You wrote, “we know who just knows about Jesus, and who actually knows Jesus by how they live.” I thought you were talking about works with the second half of your statement.
I was.
How does that even remotely mean works earn salvation?
It doesn't, of course.

We all get it wrong and react in ways that we know we should not.

We only have to look at a hard headed angry man called Peter.

I myself have been guilty of retaliating in an ungodly manner on this site.
And boy it does not sit well with me when I have. This is true but a times I have woken up in the middle of the night or morning and regret what I have done.

People at times have ripped me apart on this forum and I responded accordingly.

But I have sought reconciliation, even if we disagree on doctrine.

You say "hopefully in the good soil"

I would say you are in the good soil. You have to be based on your post above and the regret for retaliation.

Retaliation tends to be aggressive. Those in the good soil will bear fruit, the fruit of the Holy Spirit.

We all need to seek the fruit of the Holy Spirit. The greatest is love.

Not sure why you need to make it about if I agree with with @dcontroversal .. I am thinking that is part of your game to cause dissension.
Because he is the one who is the most dogmatic and open about a believer not losing his salvation if he goes back to unbelief.

I do find it repugnant how you give little emphasis to Christ and what He has done to secure the salvation of sinners through His all-sufficient work.
This is just foolish talk.
Christ's work is sufficient to save any and all believers, not unbelievers.
You can't go back to unbelief and think you're going to be welcomed with open arms when Jesus returns.
Not gonna happen.
Only believers will enter into the kingdom of God when Jesus returns.

As well, yes I agree with him ... ultimately we not saved by the amount, quality, or how constant our faith is... but by the grace and faithfulness of the One in whom we initially trusted. "If we are faithless, He remains faithful; for He cannot deny Himself."
We know you can't go back to unbelief and still be saved by this simple statement:

"1Now, brothers and sisters, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. 2By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain." - 1 Corinthians 15:1-2

These plain words make your interpretation of 2 Timothy 2:13 false.

Like I stated before your belief is really "unbelief" because it is about YOU and what is required of YOU.
You have yet to prove that.
You have never shown me the scripture that says me obeying the following scriptures is me trying to save myself by works:

"stand firm in the faith - 1 Corinthians 16:13

"building yourselves up in your most holy faith" - Jude 1:20

"holding on to faith" - 1 Timothy 1:19

"hold firmly to the faith we profess" - Hebrews 4:14

"Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess" - Hebrews 10:23

"And now, dear children, continue in him" - 1 John 2:28

"As for you, see that what you have heard from the beginning remains in you." - 1 John 2:24

Im sorry if it really grieves you,I wont ignore you!💕
Accept and embrace the culture of the people we interact with on here.

Out cultures a diffent and responses are different.

In one culture a word is not offensive but in another it is

To me it's only offensive if it's personal and attacking.

As a man who was brought up in the what was known as the hardest and most deprived, depraved in Europe swear words were the norm.

The majority of the time such words were just an expression.

My mother (now a believer, convert from Islam to Jesus which she taught me as I was growing up) used many swear words we consider to be swear words but in fact it was just an expression to her thoughts.

A simple example would be "FFS" Basically an expression of exasperation. That's all.

Rom 8:33 Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth.
Rom 8:34 Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.
Rom 8:35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
Rom 8:36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.
Rom 8:37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
Rom 8:38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
Rom 8:39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Amen!
Good reason to keep believing!

I have only one account on here, regardless of WHO you think I am!
Is this HOW chaps are to be treated on here, malarkey!
You yanks are laughable!

We have had one particular, very STUBBORN, member that KEEPS changing his or her names, and rejoining just so he or her can call us names, and gets BANNED in a few days, and DOES IT AGAIN. That person, we think is a Catholic, that HATES all of us Protestants.

So it would help if you do not emulate that person, and tell us what Denomination or Type of Church you attend ? ? ?

I come from a Conservative Evangelical background and attend a Non-denominational Community Bible Teaching Church, that Teaches
OSAS Theology.

Are you perfect in all your ways?

You started out as the man who asked for mercy. But now you have become the other man. The self righteous man who was thanking God that he was not like the other man who he deemed was a sinner/unsaved.

You started out right. And now that God has purified you and made you clean, through no effort of your own, you want to take His glory by tooting your own horn.

Humble thyself! Hypocrite. Liar. Humble thyself.

If you have made progress in overcoming some of your sinful ways. Then teach others how to do the same. But not to gain salvation, but rather to do the things that are pleasing in God sight.

God did not set you free from your sinful ways just so that you can show off on those struggling or who perhaps have not yet come to an accurate understanding.

God did not change you so that you can now spread lies, that you are saved by doing good works.

So if you don't know how to preach the gospel, then be quiet.

Tell me, when did God appoint you to go about, and say who is saved and who isn't?

Can you see into anyone's heart? Humble thyself and let God do His job. He does not require your assistance.
Why do you get to judge, but I can't?
As you yourself said in your post:
"Can you see into anyone's heart? Humble thyself and let God do His job. He does not require your assistance."

Suffice it so say that you do not understand this at all......

We are not kept saved by the amount, quality, or constancy of our faith, but by the grace and faithfulness of the One in whom we initially trusted. "If we are faithless, He remains faithful; for He cannot deny Himself."

Therefore you will never understand the rest of the New Testament..... not by a long shot.

You fumble around in the dark pulling out verses that in no way support Jesus abandoning His children.

I will not try to prove anything to you anymore you are steeped in confirmation bias.

You just want a soapbox, but I will let people know you are not standing on Truth.[/QUOTE]

A REAL believer cannot fall back into unbelief. A GENUINE believer cannot fall into unbelief. It is only those who were never saved to begin with, that can fall back into unbelief..

I don't see what is so difficult to grasp about that.

Good reason to keep believing!
Adding to "GOD that justifieth", not man's approval.......

The Lord says those who are His are justified, righteous in Christ, then proceeds to inform those who are His there is nothing
that can take me away from Him, or Him away from me.....

Like a son......once a son always a son...
