I would think they could be waiting because they understand they have the responsibility to watch and work at getting the wedding invitation (the gospel )out.

Daniel says the Kingdom of God came in the time of the Roman Empire. The Jews thought it should have been physical and could not see it. Just as they could not see Christ and killed him because they didn't recognize the Kingdom he preached. He said only the born again could see it. This is why you have millennialism today. They seek a kingdom of sight while the born again know the kingdom arrived along with Jesus.

They had! As you say, killed him . And it was at his first coming that they were guilty of this...but they (The Jews) aren´t the only ones guilty...

The dead have no voice.
God chooses whom he will save. And to these, he Gives the Holy Spirit. They can then discern spiritual truth. One way to tell if a person has the Holy Spirit is their ability to understand Christ and see his kingdom.
