Are you cessationist?
Baptist?
There is only one Church- the body of Christ in the which at conversion, we are baptised into. All these denominational tags show the errors of Biblical Truth among themselves. Was Jesus a Baptist, or any of these others? Paul in his day noted the same beginning of errors, and rebuked them as noted in 1Cor. 1: 12,13. and again in 3: 1-5. The Bible warns against all this "fussing'" by saying: "Every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgement". Matthew 12: 36. If one attends a denominal church, one still belongs to Christ, NOT the institution.

That was a lot of work to not answer a very non invasive simple question.

John 7:39 clearly states that the HOLY SPIRIT had NOT yet been given, because CHRIST JESUS had not yet been glorified

that is, had not entered into HIS SUFFERING...had not done the WORK and WILL of GOD...had not yet drank THE CUP...this had to happen first in order for one who believes to be baptized into CHRIST....

Living Water

37In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. 38He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. 39(But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)

The man is right...outward denominations are just that, an outward profession of who we worship and say we belong to in the site of men...

It is the INWARD PROFESSION that GOD sees that matters....

And even if men are fooled...GOD isn´t...HE sees and knows who belongs to HIM...and who belongs to HIM is NOT limted to one outward denominational organizational outward structure of a church, which is not THE TRUE CHURCH...which GOD sees and knows

My answer was referring to the question are you a "cessationist" or a Baptist? I am new at this computer stuff and may have entered another conversation. Sorry about the mix up.

K, but didn't Jesus say [quoted below] this AFTER that ^ point in time ? :

"Now He said this concerning the Spirit, whom those having believed in Him were about to receive; for the Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified." John 7:39
I would be careful how we hear. The Holy Spirit was alive and power.

The Spirit was not given
The Spirit that bring the message gospel was not dead . It is first recorded doing its work in Abel to both will and do the good pleasure of God. He is the first apostle sent with the gospel first recorded martyr. Men saints in the Old testament had the same Spirit of Christ in them as we do today .

During the earthly ministry of Jesus living in his body of death .There was no power attributed to it. Men blasphemed the Son of man Jesus seen, the temporal and it was not held against them . When Jesus left and re-entered the same glory he previously had then or today blasphemy is not forgiven .

He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.) John 7: 38 -39

As long as Jesus was seen God could not be gloried

Verse 39 does not make the previous verse above without effect.(he that believes)

That which was given it was given to would seem to be more of the range .

The gospel hidden on the other side of the 1st century reformation . The mystery of faith (worshipping a God not seen) revealed to all the nations. . . a wedding invitation. . Some received oil for the lamps and a promise of a new wedding attire. .clothed with the light of her righteous husband Christ.

Previously some thought as those deceived by the god of this world God was a God of the Jews and not the gentiles . At that moment when the veil was rent Satan fell never deceiving all the nations hat men must come through the corrupted flesh of a unbelieving Jew.

And cast
him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season. Revealtion20:3

Luke 10:17-19 King James Version (KJV) And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name. And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven. Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

Believers of all time have the Holy Spirit, faith is a fruit of the Holy Spirit. Abel, Job, Abraham, and many more listed in Hebrews 11 had the Holy Spirit. So what did Jesus mean when he told his group of believers "Receive the Holy Spirit"?
Faith is the work or labor of the love from the Holy Spirit. . working in us. Believing (faith) is the fruit of His work that does work in us to both will give us ear or understanding and empower us by His Spirit to do His good pleasure.

He suggests to believe without murrurrring and promises as one of the better things that does accompany salvation he will not forget the good works we do offer towards him when he works with us. Pride comes before the falling away denying the faith that can work in us.

When the prophets like Jesus spoke the words of the Lord the words "Receive the Holy Spirit" those words worked in them again to both give them a good desire and empower them to finished it being yoked with Christ. Making our burden lighter. Pleasing the unseen Father.

The Holy Spirit was with the born again to represent the bride of Christ. ( Revelation 21) A picture to the whole world from Eden on. The old testament signified the bride as gates of the city after 12 tribes. The new testament saints to represents all the nations of the world are given the word Apostles (sent ones)12 to represent wall of the city. We are the temple . Gates for entering in and foundation walls .You could say made up of many lively stones that build up the spiritual not seen, house of God, the church.

You could say like below. he was not approving of the faithlessness but commanded him to beleive

. ohn 20:27 Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing.

Your confusion is getting deeper. You are building error upon error. You need to stop turning Scripture inside out and start accepting what the plain text says.
