How about just replace the word tithe to what it really mean, which is "ten percent"?

Giving 10% of your money away is certainly not a requirement. But there are benefits if one does so.
Typical charismatic Churches will tell you that "tithe means 10%".

Do your research my friend.
The definition of a 'tithe' has three facets, one of which is 10%.
But you're missing the other two.

See my original post and attachments.

If you are arguing that it should be more than 10%, as I have already stated, go ahead and give more than 10%.

Thanks for quoting one of the few verses that is repeated by folk who sign up to the prosperity gospel.

See my OP and attachment for a formal definition of a tithe.

Let me ask you this, would you be happy for me to continuosly donate fruit and cattle to my local Church, or would you say it has to be money?
I have read the attachments. When the Believer faith is not placed and maintained exclusively in Christ and His Finished Work at Calvary Cross (the Blood of Jesus - 1 Cor. 2:2) where the victory was won, they will only see, hear, and understand from the letter of the law (the law of sin and death) and not the SPIRIT OF THE LAW THAT BRINGS LIFE. The Law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus - Romans 8:2.

AHH yes, the argument that 'true believers' ought to tithe because they have the law "written on their hearts".

Just more manipulation.

Do YOU wear clothes with more than one fabric?
Do you believe in stoning for adultery?
How about circumcision?

When Faith is misplaced Christ becomes of no benefit to them. They are being seduced by demon spirits. Gal. 5:2, 1 Kings 22:21-23

What are the 3 facets that define a tithe?
I know, but do you?
It is obviously important enough for you to know. Do you need everyone else you interact with to care for it as much as you?

As a Christian, understanding the intricacies of the Bible is important to me, yes.

Have a nice day.

Okay, you disagree with my view. I am fine with that.

Do you have any view on the parable of the unjust steward? What do you think the Lord is teaching there?
Nothing about tithing.

What about stewardship over money?
This thread is specifically about the claim that some Churches and denominations make about the requirement for modern Christians to tithe.

I recognise you have already stated that there is no requirement for modern Christians to tithe, but can you at least make an effort to keep this thread on topic.

That is up to him whether he wants to reply. If he doesn't, I am fine too.

As the OP noted, this thread is about tithing. You're welcome to start a new thread about financial stewardship.

Jesus said a new commandment He gives the saints that they love one another.

Love works no ill towards their neighbor, therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.

Paul said out of faith, hope, and charity, love in action, charity is the greatest.

Which Paul said he could have all faith so that he could remove mountains, but if he did not have charity he is nothing.

And said if anybody preaches that God blesses with money for their wants to withdraw yourselves from them, having food and clothing be content.

For the love of money is the root of all evil for it neglects the poor and needy, and anybody that goes by their wants have erred from the faith.

James said if they do not have charity their faith is dead.

John said if they do not have charity then the love of God does not dwell in them, so do not love in word, or in tongue, but in deed, and in truth.

Some people pray amiss to heap it unto their lusts.

God said He wants equality among the saints so they all prosper equally.

The ministers are not to be in the ministry for the money.

The rich should distribute their money.

The saints appear poor to the world but possess all things to be given them in the future.

God shall supply all our need., and if a person seeks the kingdom of God, and His righteousness, food, and clothing will be added unto them.

The early Church sold all they had that was not a necessity and they distributed to the saints that had need, and shared everything.

Paul said he coveted no gold, or silver, or apparel, but labored with his own hands to supply his needs, and others with him, and as an example for the saints to labor to supply their needs, and to help the weak that have a need, because it is better to give than receive.

All money that goes to the Church is for helping people with their needs, and to further the kingdom of God.

God only supplies our needs, and not our wants, and people that go by their wants do not love like they should for they put their wants which is not a necessity above people, and love is greater than faith, and love is the fulfilling of the law.

So what do tithes mean in that sense that we can only go by our needs, so all of our resources is only for our needs, and the needs of others.

The tithes were to supply the priests with their needs, but if the saints are supposed to help each other with their needs then maybe tithes is whatever is above your needs.

But if the preachers and people acted like they did at the early Church the preacher would only go by their needs, and all the saints would have their needs met.

2Co 8:14 But by an equality, that now at this time your abundance may be a supply for their want, that their abundance also may be a supply for your want: that there may be equality:
2Co 8:15 As it is written, He that had gathered much had nothing over; and he that had gathered little had no lack.

Rev 3:15 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.
Rev 3:16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.
Rev 3:17 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked.

But this is what is going on a lot.

But many people that say they do not believe in paying tithes do so because they do not like giving up ten percent, but they are only to go by their needs, and help people with their needs, so they are not to have money for their wants anyway.

For love not the world, and the things of the world, and if anybody does the love of God does not dwell in them, which wants are of the world for they cater to our selfishness, and has nothing to do with love.

it is not entirely true because Jesus did indirectly command us to give a tithe or 10% of our resources in Matt 23:23

“Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices—mint, dill and cumin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law—justice, mercy and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former.
But the Old Testament was still in effect when Jesus was on earth.
