You are judging those who speak their convictions as having wrongful motives. We are to speak the truth in love. It would bother my conscience not to speak out against the Charismatic movement, knowing what I know having survived it. You need to look at history and ask why all churches are not Charismatic. I would think attacking the body must be defined. Iron can sharpen iron and cause a little heat. I think the whole body is on a learning curve But without heat the iron cannot be purified.

The question I would ask is. Why would any denomination or person after searching the foundation of the doctrine (Isaiah 28) Continue to make a noise like a baby fall back as a way of mocking God. The sign he has given to the believers pointing to those needing to hear the gospel (sola scriptura) And not mock God with the oral traditions of men who refuse to hear all things written in the law and prophets, the one witness of God.


Isaiah 28:9 EVR The people say, “Who does he think he is trying to teach and explain his message to? Does he think we are babies who were at their mother’s breast only a very short time ago? He speaks to us as though we were babies:

So God will use this strange way of talking, and he will use other languages to speak to these people. In the past he spoke to them and said, “Here is a resting place. When the people try to walk, they will fall backwards. They will be defeated, trapped, and captured.

People shouldn't despise other Christian groups which is plainly stated in the above verse. It's also worth noting that the letters of the New Testament were directed toward different groups. You will find things in some books of the Bible that were not written in other books. The recipients of these letters were not necessarily aware of the letters other church groups were getting because since churches are made of individuals who face unique challenges, it behooved the writers of these letters to tailor them to their audience.

Plainly, this is why the Bible as we know it is a collection of writings with profoundly different scriptural interpretations depending on how the reader understands them relative to their situation in life. There are non-negotiable core tenants in Christianity, but there is also a lot of freedom.

How we're told to interact with those who we are in disagreement with is with the humility to know we cannot have all of the answers unless we were blessed with all knowledge and wisdom beforehand, grace to understand that sanctification is process and accumulation of wisdom is incremental through experience, forgiveness to those with condescending pride and judgement, and above all else Love which unites us and motivates us to uplift and encourage each other as member of the body of Christ.

You are using an old sales technique, called bait, and switch. Trying to sell Pentecostalism on the merits of genuine first-century Christianity, even including Jesus. Show some of today's alleged miracles to back your claims.

I sympathize with you on a human level (though I disagree with the Charismatic sect).

Unfortunately it's the nature of this type of non-face to face communication. Years ago, before becoming a believer, I participated in worldly discussion forums (Home Theater topics, etc.).

But years later, after becoming a believer, I decided to join a discussion forum relating to Christianity. I think I posted one response to a topic (probably the only post I ever made on that site years ago) and I was shocked to find the same type of rudeness as on the worldly sites I used to frequent. I stopped posting on that site (probably around 2008) and I only now just recently decided to explore the Christian discussion boards again. After finding this one I decided to give it another go; especially since I am now much more acquainted with the scriptures.

But I was once again seeing spirit troubling behavior by professed believers on this forum as well. I nearly abandoned this site as well, but decided to stick it out and quench those fiery darts with the shield of faith.

I have many unbeliever friends.
I have many cessationist friends.

I am as tolerant and patient as anyone.

What I have trouble with is a blanket indictment.

The body of christ is all denominations...catholic included.
Are all saved ? No probably not.
Is there a remnant in each denomination? Probably.
So the body is huge and diverse. I kinda like it up to a point.
But attacking is a ffg form of cancer in the body.
Evil men going after good men.

Half a gospel? Are you suggesting that the gospel must include a baptism of the Holy Spirit and evidence of speaking in tongues?

The gospel is the death, burial and resurrection of Christ. Salvation is by grace received through faith.

They were in the presence of Christ, who is God. But you are still missing the point. They were working for Christ's enemies. So if you want to take that example, then all who fall down in those Charismatic meetings are working for the enemy (the devil). Is that what you wish to conclude?

This whole "slain in the Spirit" business is not from God. So you can draw your own conclusions.
