Doesn't sound like "good news" to me either. Sounds like fear and bondage to IN-security, which is no good news at all.
Everyone who is holding fast the conviction of faith they started out in has nothing to fear about whether they are saved or not.
Let go of that faith, then you better start fearing.....and stop being so arrogant (Romans 11:20).

Strong's #859: aphesis (pronounced af'-es-is)

from 863; freedom; (figuratively) pardon:--deliverance, forgiveness, liberty, remission.
Thayer's Greek Lexicon:

aphesis

1) release from bondage or imprisonment
2) forgiveness or pardon, of sins (letting them go as if they had never been committed), remission of the penalty

Part of Speech: noun feminine

free gift of God is eternal life (not temporary life)
Eternal life doesn't mean you will possess it forever.

If I gave you a flashlight that will shine forever does forever mean you will always possess it?
No, of course not.
Hebrews explains how eternal life means the life you partake of through Christ never ends, unlike the life that the old covenant gave.
It does not say eternal life means you can't lose it.

John 14:27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. (per example, to take it away or destroy it in time and just generally toy with you... :)) Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid...

So "eternal" life means "temporary" life? o_O If you can lose eternal life, then it was never eternal. Salvation is not probation. Eternal life is not temporary life. Jesus is the door. He is not a revolving door.

Honestly, you are the one who is being arrogant.
What makes you claim that other members here who discuss with you don't hold fast to faith? Just because they don't agree with you on every matter, or what?

Eternal means eternal.
You are making the mistake of saying your possession of Christ's life is what is eternal.
But it is Christ's life that is eternal, not your possession of it (in this life).
This is all explained in Hebrews.

If the believer stops believing, Christ's eternal life will go on and on and on without you.
Eternal life does not mean you will always have it (in this life) and can't lose it.

He is not a revolving door.
That's right.
Once he turns you over to your choice to go back to unbelief you are not allowed to come back.

Yet these unbelievers you say Paul is addressing in Romans 11 continue in God's kindness they will be fine.
Sorry, but your doctrines just don't add up.
My doctrine adds up just fine. You just remain naive to the fact that it's not hard to make believers mixed in with genuine believers in just about any group of "professing" believers. We saw this with Judas Iscariot and the 11 remaining disciples in John 15, yet the faith of Judas was spurious and he was an unbelieving, unclean devil who betrayed Jesus. (John 6:64-71; 13:10-11)

We also see this in 1 John 2:19, in which we read - They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us; but they went out that they might be made manifest, that none of them were of us. Did you see that? 1 John 2 is addressed to "My little children" (believers) but as you can see, not everyone in this group is a genuine believer. You can also see that IF THEY HAD BEEN OF US, THEY WOULD HAVE CONTINUED WITH US.

I did not know I made the claim there are some here who did not hold fast to their faith.
What I have said is adherents to the new osas believe that you can stop believing in Christ and you will remain saved.

Wonderful.
Now address what I said.

Eternal means eternal.
Amen!

You are making the mistake of saying your possession of Christ's life is what is eternal.
But it is Christ's life that is eternal, not your possession of it (in this life).
John 5:24 - Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life. So much for temporary possession of eternal life.

This is all explained in Hebrews.
I've already heard your biased explanations on Hebrews numerous times. Not convinced.

If the believer stops believing, Christ's eternal life will go on and on and on without you.
Yet genuine believers do not stop believing. Those who stop believing had a shallow, temporary belief that had no root.

Eternal life does not mean you will always have it (in this life) and can't lose it.
Then it's not eternal. Your obsession with losing eternal life is nauseating.

That's right.
Once he turns you over to your choice to go back to unbelief you are not allowed to come back.
Genuine believers don't go back to unbelief.

Let’s go through it. What do you want to look at first? You should have a KJV or you’ll miss some important details of the chapter.
17And this I say, that the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect." - Galatians 3:17

You say the law does disannul the Covenant of promise and that the Jews are not under that covenant and that justification for them is through works, not through faith as it is in the Covenant of promise made before the law was given.

John 5:24 - Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life. So much for temporary possession of eternal life.
....if you keep believing.
You are convinced there is no other way to see these passages about eternal life.

And don't you dare argue the point about 'if you keep believing'.

Either Jesus is a liar, or He isn't.. Either He died on the cross to save us, or He didn't..

Certainly easy to tell who here totally believes in Jesus and who doesn't.. sad but true.

Sorry I misunderstood you. It really sounded like you were refering to us here. We often get rude remarks.

Well, literally nobody on the forum believes or promotes what you just said so no much use focusing on that on this thread because it turns into a strawman discussion that just annoys all participants... a saved person is not going to stop believing.
