I am already a believer. I am simply requesting that the Pentecostals support their claims with evidence.
the word of God does, and you are not one needing to be convinced. To many far to many have seen and come to know the gifts of the Holy Spirit. The word of of God says to let you be, and i shall.

Obedience to scripture is why tongues with so called interpretation and prophecy are not found in biblically sound churches.

I prefer clergy that is educated to teach and preach as opposed to every one who may have a theology they wish to expound that is not orthodox. Look around this place and see how many folks including many women hold opinions on scripture that are outside the mainstream norm.

Corinth was a church in error and discord not one to be emulated.

Good for you. The prayer of faith will heal the sick. But you should not confuse this with the signs and wonders gifts found in Acts which included tongues and prophecy. These ended in the Epistles and formally expired with the apostles.
only if you could prove that with the word of God LOL which you have not

The only gifts that have ceased are the gifts listed in 1 Cor 13:8. The list has only three gifts that cease or end. All the other gifts continue and will continue.

Roger
wrong you have scriptures to support that claim LOL.

Three have but the rest continue. The perfect is the word of God delivered to the saints. Perfect in this context is complete.

Roger
wrong you can not prove that in the word of God. The word of God has always been perfect from GEN to REV. Paul did not have a new testament you read from. You area control freak and in error.

OK. I was hoping for video testimony of miraculous tongues occurring at your Church but you have rejected that request yet again. Good evening to you.

no you were not

you post that kind of mockery in every thread about the gifts of the Spirit and tongues in particular

as I have said a good many times in this forum, disagreement is one thing, but the mockery and disdain exemplified by certain cessationists brings to mind nasty children poking each other in the ribs with their elbows while laughing at what they think is some sort of trap

thing is, you have trapped yourselves and like Pharaoh, your heart is hardened further

I am aware that you are a drooling Pentecostal and unable to know what verse 8 is teaching because you refuse to believe it. You are an example of the seed that fell among the thorns and fails to grow to maturity. Mat 13

Your babbling will never produce knowledge. Without knowledge there is no understanding and no growth to wisdom.

For the cause of Christ
Roger
we don't drool and it is clear you do not know how to read the Biblical Contextually Because 1 cor 13: 8-10 has nothing to do with the Canon of scripture YOU interjected that into the chapter. The you pull some scripture from the old to again take out of context two verses in one chapter of all the New Testament. LOL it so sad and frankly unbiblical. You have demonstrated more babbling of Gods word than most Pentecostal you claim do. LOL.

They can't because, as you have stated, the age of signs and wonders have passed, since the Gospel of the Kingdom is no longer to be preached today. The nation Israel has rejected their Messiah.

Only after the rapture, when the Gospel of Kingdom will be restarted, then we can see signs and wonders.

Provide one other instance where the gifts came apart from their hands. (Excluding the two outpourings).

“God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will?” Hebrews 2:4 (KJV 1900)

The word "apostle" simply means "sent one". Adding other meaning can destroy the author's intent making its original intent and use without effect.

The laying on of hands is a shadow of or tradition of prayer, like the folding of hands or bowing, or closing ones eyes. It is a outward sign or appeal of the inward work of the gospel. When Paul was moved by God and was given the words of God . "Stand upright on thy feet" it empowered him who never walked to leap and walk .A picture of the gospel the unseen power of God unto salvation..

The power of preaching is the gospel. . . not Paul or any man as if God was served by human hands. Those who did attribute the unseen work of the words of the Holy Spirit to the apostles made them into gods in the likeness of men .We walk by faith the unseen eternal. To attribute the work of God to any man is to blaspheme the Holy name we are called by

And there they preached the gospel. And there sat a certain man at Lystra, impotent in his feet, being a cripple from his mother's womb, who never had walked:The same heard Paul speak: who stedfastly beholding him, and perceiving that he had faith to be healed,Said with a loud voice, Stand upright on thy feet. And he leaped and walked. And when the people saw what Paul had done, they lifted up their voices, saying in the speech of Lycaonia, The gods are come down to us in the likeness of men.And they called Barnabas, Jupiter; and Paul, Mercurius, because he was the chief speaker. Then the priest of Jupiter, which was before their city, brought oxen and garlands unto the gates, and would have done sacrifice with the people.Which when the apostles, Barnabas and Paul, heard of, they rent their clothes, and ran in among the people, crying out,Acts 14:7-14

The signs that follow after or follow the finished work of Christ working in us are metaphors in that parable .A new tongue as desire to preach the gospel. The word of God a antidote against the poison of false prophecy and false apostles.

Signs that follow not signs that confirm .

For instance.

Sign that follows ."You have just left the city of Chicago limit" .

Sign that confirm ."You have entered the city of Chicago ".

And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God. And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.17-20

Signs that follow have no power they show the power of the gospel was given. Leaping and walking by the faith that worked in him

If I believe 'the prayer of faith shall heal the sick in James 5', why would that mean I don't believe in the 'ultimate' healing' at the resurrection?

Why don't we discuss specific scripture. Paul wrote of Christ becoming a curse for us. He writes about the 'curse of the law' upon those who do not obey it. There is also the curse related to Adam. Where does the Bible address the idea of this curse being lifted?

Jesus still had nail and spear holes.

Cessationists have a wide variety of beliefs. Some dispensationalists are cessationists.

I think we need to be careful about blaming the sick. But not having because you have not asked, or not receiving because you have not prayed in faith are two themes found in the book of James. Throughout the gospels there are statements of Christ that indicate healing is related to the faith of the sick individual or others. When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the man lowered through the roof... 'According to your faith be it unto you..."

Even Paul, when he saw that a man had faith to be healed told him to rise and walk.

In James 5, if the elders pray and the sick isn't healed, if they want to blame anyone for not praying the prayer of faith, they should blame themselves.

Where do you get that? Not asking for healing in faith versus hiding a secret of murdering someone or adultery or whatever is not the same thing. Also, one of the promises of healing is about the elders praying the prayer of faith.

I can tell you don't like 'them' very much, or some things about 'them.' I was raised Pentecostal, but if all I saw of it was the Charismatic WOFers on TV, I might have a negative attitude about it. Honestly, I have had a kind of negative attitude toward WOFers, and many of them have brought this on themselves with scripture-twisting on TV. But spending time overseas and going to church with a mix of expats when I didn't know the language. I met some Rhema grads who seemed to be solid evanglials.

Having faith and believing God in spite of the circumstances is a common theme I have heard from both Pentecostal and Charismatic churches. Healing is actually something the Bible says a lot about, though, and we should believe the teaching of scripture on these things as well.

You paint with a broad brush. I could talk about how non-Pentecostal churches teach that gay marriage is good and let pastors conduct those ceremonies, and I heard one of them had a stripper come in and use her 'gifts' and hold to all kinds of liberal theories. All those things are true. There are cessationists who do not believe Jesus rose bodily from the dead (JWs).

Some of your concerns are the kind of things I've read Pentecostals criticizing some of the WOF teachings over, btw.
Would you agree that Kenneth Hagin was a false teacher?

I think he may have even been a demoniac. And I really have a hard time with anyone who would think goofs like this are real Christian believers, let alone teachers. Notice the wild behavior amongst the audience. It all shames Christianity.

Notice this demonic behavior:

Those are quite a raft of hard-hearted condamnations. Nevertheless, I stand by my claim of heartfelt sincerety in making my petition and plea to any and all Pentecostals: give God glory and fulfill your duty and publish and broadcast all signs and miracles for the sake of the Body and Christ.

Ouch! no poking .Its only funny when two people are laughing .LOL

That reminds me of the foundation of the tongue doctrine . Faithless men mocking God with stammering lips . So he promises them with mocking lips they will be exposed to mankind a s those who hold to the tradition of men making His tradition "sola scriptura" The word of God without effect . In that way no man can serve two teaching masters.

I would think we would warn them. They who make all things written in the law and the prophets without effect would seem to be mocking God. Why make a sound and fall backward? Would it bring glory to the gospel? from faith to faith ?

The people say, “Who does he think he is trying to teach and explain his message to? Does he think we are babies who were at their mother’s breast only a very short time ago? He speaks to us as though we were babies:

“Saw lasaw saw lasaw
Qaw laqaw qaw laqaw
Ze’er sham ze’er sham.”

So God will use this strange way of talking, and he will use other languages to speak to these people.

In the past he spoke to them and said, “Here is a resting place. Let those who are tired come and rest. This is the place of peace.”

But they would not listen to him. So the Lord’s words will be senseless sounds to them:

“Saw lasaw saw lasaw.
Qaw laqaw qaw laqaw.
Ze’er sham ze’er sham.”

When the people try to walk, they will "fall backwards". They will be defeated, trapped, and captured. Isaiah 28: 9-13

I did it in another post before I got to this post of yours, just a few of them.

But I have to wonder how often you read the gospels if you haven't read these types of statements about the person's faith making them whole, be it unto you according to your faith, etc. It shows up quite a bit if you read through. I wonder also if cessationists just don't pay attention to stuff like that since it doesn't seem to be practically applicable to them. Of course, some cessationists seem to emphasize healing more than you do.

Jesus believed His Father can heal. I did not say that Jesus could not heal apart from the individual's faith. He did raise the dead, also.

Jesus said 'he that believeth in me, the works that I do shall he do also, and greater works than these shall he do'. That's a mind-boggling scripture, but it is in John.

But I think whether Jesus' ministry is normative is beside the point, since the elders are to pray the prayer of faith in James 5. James teaches about the need to pray in faith while teaching in praying for wisdom in chapter 1, also.
Here's where it seems like any sane person would realize that charismatic teaching is wrong.

There is not one single person who can do the same works as Jesus did when he walked on earth. It could apply to the Church as a whole in a limited manner. Or, perhaps what Jesus is saying is through union with Him, any miracle could be performed that corresponds with God's sovereign will. The problem is that God could simply perform the miracle himself without the person's involvement whatsoever.

By the way, my point regarding that Scripture is that you applied it to the WRONG EVENT. I will go back and re-post the question. Go back and research the inference you made.

Let's stick strictly with the topic of the gifts of healing, tongues, interpretation of tongues and prophecy.

I think you mentioned that there was proof of these gifts in the apostolic error up until the 3rd century.

If I am correct in your comments, then let me ask the following:

1. what evidence past the apostolic era?
2. what about between the third century until the 1800's?

If you point me to Montanists, they were heretical. Montanus said "I am the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit". What kind of nut says that?

There’s a doctrine going around called Cessationism which teaches dat spiritual gifts such as speaking in tongues, prophecy and healing have ceased since pentecost. This is completely bogous and asinine and unbiblical, even I speak in tongues sometimes and after I was born again I started seeing visions which were prophetic and actually came true aswell.

just like the bible says in Joel 2:28 And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:

the only thing dat has ceased is peoples faith in Gods power as the bible says in 2 timothy 3:5 they have a form of godlyness but they deny the power off.

Lets go 2 the scriptures where there were many miracles done with the power of the holy spirit and where the holy spirit was poured out onto people after pentecost.

Also just 2 mention a prophecy from david in pslams Acts 1:16 Men and brethren, this scripture must needs have been fulfilled, which the Holy Ghost by the mouth of David spake before concerning Judas, which was guide to them that took Jesus.

Acts 2:1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.

2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.

4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

Acts 5:12 And by the hands of the apostles were many signs and wonders wrought among the people; (and they were all with one accord in Solomon's porch.

Acts 5:15 Insomuch that they brought forth the sick into the streets, and laid them on beds and couches, that at the least the shadow of Peter passing by might overshadow some of them.

16 There came also a multitude out of the cities round about unto Jerusalem, bringing sick folks, and them which were vexed with unclean spirits: and they were healed every one.

Acts 6:5 And the saying pleased the whole multitude: and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Ghost, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolas a proselyte of Antioch:

Acts 6:8 And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and miracles among the people.

Acts 8:5 Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them.

6 And the people with one accord gave heed unto those things which Philip spake, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did.

Acts 9:40 peter raised a woman from the dead.

Acts 10:43 To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.

44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.

45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.

46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,

Acts 19:1 And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding certain disciples,

2 He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost.

3 And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John's baptism.

4 Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.

5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.

6 And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.

So u see hear folks, many works and miracles and out poring of the holy spirit after Pentecost in acts.

Don’t be fooled by these silly erroneous doctrines which go totally against the bible which are purposely made by the enemy 2 deceive you and turn u away from the truth and 2 destroy ur faith.

Take authority against the demons God has given it 2 his children and don’t be fearful, don’t be weary, Luke 10:19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

By the way, to make your claim that the gifts of tongues, interpretation of tongues, healings, and prophesies continued unceasingly since Pentecost, what historical evidence or Scriptures can you present?

That is the real issue.

By the way, my faith is intact regardless of my opinion about charismatics and their claims. I believe Jesus died for my sins, and was resurrected the third day. I believe his sacrifice on the Cross paid my sin debt, and that I am living in union with him. This is true despite any charismatic claims. I believe the Church has been given the spiritual gifts that will bring them to the consummation at Jesus' return. I don't think babbling, and interpretation of babbling, and errant prophecies, and an individual healing someone matters in the least toward the achievement of the consummation of my faith. I am convinced that believers will die without receiving the end of their faith in this world, as Hebrews 11 teaches. Nothing a charismatic/Word of Faith/Pentecostal says about trivial gifts such as tongues, healings, and prophecies matters in the LEAST concerning my faith.

Instead, I view these claims as occasions for bragfests. Often these types are interested in proclaiming their spiritual superiority regarding these teachings. I have little regard for their false claims. Even more, I consider those claiming to be apostles and prophets to be LIARS.
