In acts the baptism in the H S was recieved by laying on of hands.
So you are saying you were not properly saved since nobody laid hands on you?
Or were they confused in the first church?
And what deposit did Timothy receive or need to recieve from his grandmother?
(Remember we supposedly got it all at conversion)

Your paraphrase is not what Jesus said it is what you want to have Him to say.

Preachers need the gift of preaching and the anointing of God to preach. The church is a mess because many men promote themselves to be preachers whom God has not anointed and not gifted to the ministry.

Preachers do not preach with gifts but by rightly dividing the word of God workmen that need not be ashamed.

Context destroys your pretext. Historic and biblical context demonstrates that the laying on of hands was not for the souls who were saved but for the circumcision present. Unbelievers needed to see God working and saving souls so they would carry the witness back to the religious leaders in Jerusalem.

If you do not see can you still believe? Do you believe Gods word because it is Gods word? Or must you rely on miracles and other such things before you can believe?

Like HE did?
HE actually said in the upper room that HE would send the HOLY SPIRIT...

It is also written that the HOLY SPIRIT could not come because CHRIST JESUS had not yet entered into HIS GLORY...(the GLORY which HE had from the beginning)...

And HE also explained in that upper room dialogue that while HE was in the world, HE kept HIS disciples...

No...JESUS did not have to wait (like us) for THE HOLY SPIRIT

It is a permanent and one time baptism ONE BAPTISM into CHRIST...we are baptized once into CHRIST...

There is another giving of the Holy Spirit by God that belongs on the list.. Jesus had risen! Yet the Apostles had locked themselves in a room for fear of the Jews. Jesus appeared among them and said.."Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me I now send YOU." And when He had said this He breathed on them and said, "Receive the Holy Spirit. Whoever's sins you forgive shall be forgiven; and whoever's sins you retain shall be retained." (John 20:21-23) The Holy Spirit is the very breath of Jesus Christ! And the Scriptures say that Jesus Christ, the High Priest, breathed into these men the Holy Spirit..to enable them to hear our sins and then judge whether to forgive them or to retain them. By the grace and the mercy of God you will find men, enabled by the Holy Spirit, waiting for you. Waiting to hear your sins in the Confessional in the Catholic Church. "The Spirit and the Bride say, "Come." (Rev. 22:17)

So what are you saying? That you have a mystical understanding of what the passage says, gained through some mystical means, even though the words in the passage do not match up with your interpretation? That is ironic considering your position on spiritual gifts. The passage does not match up with what you say it means. You even agreed that you know in part, which is the way Paul described the situation before the perfect comes.

If you want people to follow you, to think that your special insight-- even if it doesn't match what the scriptures actually say-- is true, why should we do that? You frequently respond toward others with snark and condescension and what you are saying just doesn't match the words of the passage. Why should someone trust a stranger on the Internet to mediate their understanding of the Bible when their interpretation doesn't even match the words on the page?

Would I suggest that a soul in search of salvation seek such in a Pentecostal church? Soul winning is the responsibility of individual saints who know the Lord as Savior. Sending new believers into churches where the discipleship is suspect is a large part of the problem we have in todays church. I would not send them to catholic churches, JW assemblies nor most mainline denominational churches. Pentecostal churches and reformed churches are not much better. I would advise them to seek an independent Baptist or independent bible church as having better prospects of having sound doctrine.

Sending people to church to 'get saved' as opposed to sharing the Gospel with them first does not seem to be the apostles' approach to evangelism. There do seem to be some kind people in independent Baptist churches. The Druggar's seemed nice, though one of them was in the news for some stuff that wasn't so great. But the movement is also a hub for country boy ignarant theology, like radical King James only-ism, and there are also churches that are tolerant of 'tell it like it is' (or 'aint) know-it-all ornary preachers. My sister went to one where a preacher at a 'revival' used the N-word to refer to blacks. I've never seen that in a Pentecostal church or any evangelical church I've attended.

There is guy on YouTube who got YouTube famous after getting bashed up when he wouldn't open his trunk for law enforcement who preaches lots of crazy stuff, some of it quite unbiblical, and not suitable for church-- like saying aspects of the holocaust didn't happen, who berrated some guy and kicked him out of the church in an ugly manner for hearing second-hand that the man had talked about him or the church without following anything resembling Matthew 18 or allowing a chance for reconciliation. Some of the churches don't seem to be a culture open to Biblical plurality of elders and a number of Biblical doctrines.

I have no interest in people following me. I present the truth of the scriptures and let the Lord lead them. Your opinions are yours and you will continue to shield yourself from the truth to preserve your behavior that is not biblically sound.

most people post in this forum what they feel in their heart has merit and spiritual effect
upon others, and they simply desire to share what they believe or have experienced.
so, even if some don't agree with them, just try and keep this in mind and learn to
use your discernment at all times,
this is what makes one who is seeking Jesus special...
some times right behavior trumps being 'right'...

So, "WHO" do you think Yeshua/Jesus is telling you(miknik5) from WHOM you(miknik5) can get LIVING WATER to drink? :unsure:

Baptized with the Holy Spirit happens only once - it's the FIRST TIME we are filled with the Holy Spirit.

After that, we are to be continually FILLED with the Holy Spirit.

Just for clarification.....

We are SEALED with the Holy Spirit when we first believe and are saved by receiving our Savior, Lord and King - Yeshua/Jesus Christ.

Next, we are BAPTIZED with the Holy Spirit which is the FIRST TIME we are FILLED with the Holy Spirit. This is the indwelling and empowering of the Holy Spirit in us to witness of Yeshua/Jesus Christ in the Earth.

Last, we are to be CONTINUALLY FILLED with the Holy Spirit DAILY with singing songs in our heart to God in worship, reading, studying and meditating on God's Word the Bible, fellowshiping with other believers, etc.

It's a choice daily. If we neglect the Gift of the Holy Spirit in us, our flesh gets stronger and we backslide. We need to be filled with the Holy Spirit so we can walk by the Spirit and not fulfill the lusts of the flesh.

Nope, the sending people to a Pentecostal vs. a Baptist church was something you brought up. If you consider it uninteresting, don't bring it up.

No, this was the topic. You have called opinions yeast, and I press you for scripture for one of our own opinions/theories, and you do not back it up.

I don't see a problem with having an opinion, but it is not appropriate to present them as scripture or to share opinions and call others' (alledged) opinions yeast.

Oh I did...which is why, just like that woman at JACOBś well (who clung to that well as if this was her lifeline to GOD), I can´t keep my mouth shut.

That woman was the first evangelist...and the people of the town asked HIM to stay with them..
Afterwards, they turned to that woman and said, we no longer believe by your word, but we have heard HIM for ourselves, and believe this is the Savior who was to come into the world.


They had ears to hear....

Clinging to Jacob's well isn't going to do much good - Yeshua/Jesus said anyone who drinks from Jacob's well will thirst again........:unsure:

Yeshua/Jesus didn't tell people He was the Messiah, yet He told her - plainly, but secretly - no one was there except Yeshua/Jesus and the Samaritan woman. I love that He told her plainly.

This was unusual behavior..... I like how the disciples just watched and kept their mouth shut. God is so much fun, just when we think we got Him figured out........ He'll do the unexpected! lol! :giggle::love:(y)

Isn't it interesting that the Samaritans were looking for the Messiah, as a Savior, yet the Jews were looking for a Messiah as a King that would set up His Kingdom......:unsure:

Samaria was a great place for Yeshua/Jesus and His disciples to "hide out" because the Jews would not go near Samaria. :giggle::love:(y)
