Oh but I can't answer that question as stated because I can't answer it "regardless of forum." It depends a lot on the forum. Even here in ChristianChat, different subforums have very different cultures.

I usually stay in Singles and Misc. forums. The atmosphere there is cool, friends chit-chatting mostly.

Every time I poke my nose into Bible Discussion I see a LOT of bad vibes. Everybody there has to prove "I am right and you are wrong" and they sling a lot of insults in the pursuit of this goal. That's why I sedulously avoid that forum these days.

And I got news for you about them bad vibes: Some people don't thrive on them and want to avoid them. Bad vibes cause high blood pressure, loss of sleep and poor digestion. And the people who want to avoid them have mostly collected in Singles and Misc. forums.

So could y'all insulters/debaters please keep those bad vibes in the forums where the people who thrive on them hang out? Y'all been messing up this nice, peaceful, informative, cool forum too long already.
I get it. That's why I said there are some people that thrive on the bad vibe. Not all people.

I'm not single but separated so singles forum is out. I'm not big on bible necessarily but I hang there to take on what makes people defend the bible without thinking. And too I have to admit, to see if they realize it looks really bad to defend being a Christian using language that would constitute a sin. There's an old Monty Python yarn in there somewhere if I look hard enough I just know it.
God love BBC America. They're rerunning the movies and the Flying Circus series.

I believe that this member you responded to was born and raised a Catholic but no longer considers himself one. He's actually quite knowledgeable on aspects of the Catholic Church. He certainly is not a bigot.
A former Catholic. That makes sense then as to the animus. Which doesn't explain the why of it if they think they've found peace in the Christ of the Protestants and still hold that anger for their former self.

And as for the bigot remark, bigotry, intolerance toward those who hold different opinions from oneself.
I say they qualify judging from their posts.

Hey Subhuman, I'll stop you right there because you don't actually see the irony in those words in this thread, with its title, and all those anti Catholic replies. You know, those who presume to know the heart's and motives of numerous people that you all don't know in the slightest. Except for what makes them worthy of your contempt. They're Catholics.
Guess what? According to the bible you all are Catholics.

And your creed was created in Rome under a Roman emperor's authority.
That would make you all who hold to the Nicene creed, Roman Catholics.

And no, wrong again. My goal isn't to cause problems. Your blind bias fails to recognize that discussion titles like this one and others here, like about women preaching, are designed to cause problems. Don't like people pointing that out, don't cause problems by making discussion topics designed to belittle the people you all want to insult.

And adding this to say, low and behold a new discussion knows what it is talking about as pertains to this and others like I've mentioned already. From that first posting. “Their throat is like an open place of death; with their tongues they have said what is not true: the poison of snakes is under their lips: whose mouth is full of curses and bitter words:” (Romans 3.13,14).
Let me stop you right there. I'm not a Christian, so tell me again what I believe.
A post against Catholicism on a site whose official stance is against Catholicism is not causing problems. The angry, bitter, argumentative, self righteous Catholic that comes to the site and preaches Catholicism is the problem.
I actually have nothing against people who claim to be catholics. You just have to accuse people of that to justify your own anger.

I didn't make this thread, nor have I ever made an anti-Catholic thread. Don't put the actions of others on me and pretend you've trapped me using my actions. Your words are now pure fabrication and false witness.
Oh, and this thread was created by a Catholic who is as equally pathetic and desperate to whine and complain about not being viewed as part of the Christian church as most Catholics that come here do. It's really rather amazing how often it happens.

But what others stated already is true. Talking to you is pointless. Hateful people are often blind to their own hatred. People tend to assume that others possess attitudes and traits that they possess. If you view everyone as hateful for the simple act of disagreeing with you, then it's likely you presume that because that's how you yourself are.
Hopefully you can work past these issues and get on a better path.

I look forward to knowing one day you'll tell God why you said all this.
You need to realize you have no authority to tell me to cease anything. You should cease being a proud bigot that besmirches the title of Christian due to your personal ignorance. Your loathing of Catholics stops you from gleaning the education that would change all that.
Catholic is a biblical term. You don't know this. I dare you to cease your hatred of Catholics and your deplorable name calling, which God says tells him that you do not know him when you hate your brother and claim to love God, and search this word out. καθόλου.
I don't look forward to the day when i will see you stand before God and try and justify your defense of the Roman catholic religion which lies about the will of God and your efforts to hinder and sabotarge the efforts of a Christian to give warning to those decieved by the catholic religion.. I don't look forward to seeing anybody cast alive into the eternal lake of fire.. Why because i love my fellow humans and i don't want to see anyone cast into the eternal lake of fire..

I dare you to cease your hatred of Catholics and your deplorable name calling
I will let my LORD Jesus provide me with solice and assurence from facing this kind of false accusations..
(Matthew 5:11-12) "Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. {12} Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you."

All Praise the Ancient of Days :D My LORD and Redeemer :giggle: I have been found worthy to face evil accusations against me falsely for His name sake.. :)

All I know is my aunt and uncle are Catholic and they are pretty cool people. There are also some Catholics on this site (shhhhh, I'm not telling any names) who are pretty cool people. So I do know it IS possible for a person to be a Catholic and not be argumentative, spiteful, insulting and name-calling... despite the examples I so often see.

Probably a reason John the Baptist or Jesus isn’t mentioned much in those cool forums, they used words like viper rather than vibes hehe

Also, I love how the extreme Christians think that the absolute only way to be a Christian is to argue about the Bible.

I heard some pretty shocking and horrible stories from ex catholics myself that are absoluely horrendous so I can kind of understand why some people would hate on the catholic church.

things like child abuse from priests and nuns. If they told anybody that was catholic they wouldnt be believed and it seems none of them were, and they had to live in silence for so long. It sounds like a brutal religion in some aspects of it. Its not all 'sound of music' which is what a lot of people think when they dont know much about catholicism. These victims were betrayed by the very church they grew up believing cared for them. sadly.

and this happens in some other denom churches too.

Hate is hate. There is no excuse for it. And God does not approve.
It is okay to hate the things that God hates. God hates those who shut up heaven and prevent those who would seek to find.

Mt 23:13 But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in.

You ain't dead yet!
Many a Catholic were slaughtered by the Protestant Reformation terrorists.
You all here are violent in your words toward Catholics and others who don't see God your way. Are you really surprised your mindset on a forum didn't act with murderous contempt in person? Look it up! Protestant is nothing to be proud of thinking it superior to those evil Catholics. The Reformation era history records Protestants slaughtering not only Catholics, but the non-religious.

What with their ignoring what God said about those who hate, come the day they'll all be surprised! Not fabled heroes of the Reformation, just according to the bible, damned terrorists whom their God never knew. Thou shalt not murder!

in Ireland the divide is more political and cultural than religious. You do get people marrying in those churches on both sides but one has to convert either to catholicism if they marry or leave catholicism (or lapse) if its the other way round. that is with english/irish marriages.

my neighbours parents are like that, his dad was irish catholic and his mum english protestant (or anglican) and they raised their children to be irreligious. It can become quite confusing.

in England the default church everyone is raised in is Church of England. instead of the Pope. they have the Queen or whoever is her or his royal highness in line to the throne

Am not a royalist but lots of people are in my country. the royal family is treated with high regard kind of like the Pope in catholicsm, but that doesnt mean all members of the royal family are christians.

In america, the white settlers broke away from England and the crown and want to become independent to worship how they want. also many Irish catholics fled after the potato famine and went to america too. In america you have all different kinds of worship. You can even study scientology or be a mormon. and thats ok. you can do whatever you want even be a wiccan adn worship satan.

I AM NOT! Point out one thing I said that was violent toward Catholics or anybody.

You said "You all here" and that includes me because I have participated in this thread. You need to be careful with that broad brush. You wind up painting people that don't deserve to be painted that color.

That from Matthew isn't hate. That's God forewarning hypocrites of their fate.
Where does God tell the redeemed it is OK to hate anyone?
Conversely, what are those scriptures wherein God condemns hate toward anyone?
