Why stop your ears and attack me without hearing a different view? And don't care to know
This happened with the Apostles. Go drink some gasoline if you think it's for you.[/QUOTE]
Why stop your ears and attack me without hearing a different view?
Have you looked at the foundation view in Isaiah 28 in regard to those who fall backward slain in the spirit ? It can useful to use against the poison drinkers that stop up their ears and make the word of God without effect..
Will you search it out?
Psalm 58:4 Their poison is like the poison of a serpent: they are like the deaf adder that stoppeth her ear;
“You will see no more the fierce and insolent people, a people of a speech too deep and obscure to be comprehended, of a strange and stammering tongue that you cannot understand.” Isaiah 33:19 (AMP)
I think 28 refers to judgment and occupation by foreigners. Also exile. That's how Paul uses tongues as a sign to unbelieving Jews in 1 Corinthians. A sign of occupation by foreigners.Good place to begin speaking about those who mock others because they cannot understand them.(The understanding hidden)
But again looking to the foundation of tongues in chapter 28 . Why is God with stammering lips or mocking lips mocking those brothers and sisters who fall backward slain in the spirit?
Perhaps the doctrine of tongues could help them if they knew what the sign represented . . .to not make a mockery of sola scriptural by adding oral traditions of men which does make the tongues doctrine without effect.
For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people. To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear. But the word of the Lord was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken. Wherefore hear the word of the Lord, ye scornful men, that rule this people which is in Jerusalem Isaiah 28:11-14
The next chapter he reminds us of those who refuse to hear all things written in the law and the prophets, without the oral traditions of men. As some do make the word of God, the Tongue of God without effect.
For the Lord hath poured out upon you the spirit of deep sleep, and hath closed your eyes: the prophets and your rulers, the seers hath he covered. Isaiah 29:10
The whole world spoke one language until the judgment of God on Nimrod at the tower of Babel. Diverse languages can hardly be seen as a blessing from God.Good place to begin speaking about those who mock others because they cannot understand them.(The understanding hidden)

So what Scripture did Philip's daughters write? What Scripture did the Corinthian believers write?Tongues and Prophecy were scripture before they became written and passed around. They ceased when scripture became complete.
So then it is clear that Scripture does not limit to the ways mentioned, correct? This is the bare bones record in Acts we have scripture to prove. Scripture only supports this much.
Wrong. That's when they were SEALED. Yeshua/Jesus appeared to His disciples after His resurrection and breathed on them and said Receive the Holy Spirit. (John 20:22).
In Acts 2 was the outpouring of the Holy Spirit - they were baptized and filled with the Holy Spirit.
The Greek clearly shows you to be in error.
Jesus did in fact appear to His disciples and breathed the Holy Spirit upon them. This is the moment they were born again and sealed unto eternal life. What followed is clearly explained in Acts as a filling not a baptism because that occurred in John 20.
Acts is the full endowment of the Holy Spirit that the disciples might minster to all the people. Power to be witnesses and proclaim the gospel message.
There remains only one baptism of the Holy Spirit and it is a baptism unto eternal life. Many fillings of the Holy Spirit for power to be the witnesses for Christ we are called to be.
For the cause of Christ
Roger
This is all we have from scripture. No scripture = no faith, no faith = sin. We sin if we fill in the blanks with our own ideas. So then it is clear that Scripture does not limit to the ways mentioned, correct?
You simply place the cart before the horse. One is baptized unto eternal life the moment they believe on Christ and bid Him save them from their sins. The filling with power can happen at any time.Wrong Roger, you are in error.
In John 20:22 - Yeshua/Jesus SEALED His disciples with the Holy Spirit.
In Acts 2 - They received the BAPTISM with the Holy Spirit which is the FIRST TIME a believer is FILLED with the Holy Spirit.
We are to stir up the Gift of the Holy Spirit within us and be CONTINUALLY FILLED - it's a daily choice.
We are to be filled with the Holy Spirit so we can walk by the Spirit and not fulfill the lusts of the flesh.
Show me where the Bible says whether they spoke in tongues or not. How do you know? Were you there? The OP is trying to promote false doctrine. So how about this:
THE HOLY SPIRIT GIVEN TO OVER 3,000 BELIEVING JEWS AND NOT ONE OF THEM SPOKE IN TONGUES!
If that is your theory, then you must feel rather dirty and sinful with all those theories of yours not backed up by scripture. This is all we have from scripture. No scripture = no faith, no faith = sin. We sin if we fill in the blanks with our own ideas.
I never read anything about them bringing snakes to Azusa Street. It is unlikely that any of those fellows in that picture ever went to Azusa Street. They all come from Azusa Street.
Yes everyone received the baptism of the Holy Spirit the moment they believed on Christ.
The Holy Spirit quickens the lost soul the moment one believes in Christ. One is not saved until they are baptized by the Holy Spirit.
Titus 3:5 explains it as a washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit.
