Fallen mankind has fell far short of the image of God. Jesus' righteousness makes up for the gap. Anything less is Pelagianism or semi-Pelagianism. No matter how hard the person tries, he cannot measure up to God's righteous standards.

While believers strive to obey God, they will inevitably fall short.

Genesis 3:15 discusses the "seed of the serpent" versus the "seed of the woman". The elect belong to the seed of the woman. The rest are seed of the serpent.

It was God’s will that Nineveh should be overthrown in forty days until they responded to the word of destruction and repented. Since they repented, God changed His mind. That’s Bible. God has authority to change his mind.

There are a few passages that states that God will not change His mind, and everyone of these have to do with His long term plans for the nation of Israel.
