You're definitely missing out. See if you can find a supply of fresh-from-the-tree figs. They're juicy and crunchy and sweet all at the same time.

I currently live in Florida but used to live in Michigan and spent some time in Maine too. I miss the change of seasons. Your snow cone idea is worth considering.The snow that falls from the sky...not sure one could do it now but as a kid I would visit Italy we would go into the higher elevations and gather fresh fallen snow and make snow cones and put fig syrup on them.
